Title: Olindo Mare to have FA visit with Fins Post by: Slippery Soap on March 26, 2008, 04:28:51 pm I saw on NFL Network last night that Olindo Mare was going to have a free agent visit with the DOlphins today. Apparantly Mare may be coming back and Feely is out. I think Feely pissed off the tuna spouting out on local talk radio. Olindo was one of my favorite players I hope he resigns. Title: Re: Olindo Mare to have FA visit with Fins Post by: Defense54 on March 26, 2008, 04:32:51 pm he's been to too many teams lately. Olindo needs to open a restaurant already and be done with it.
Title: Re: Olindo Mare to have FA visit with Fins Post by: StL FinFan on March 26, 2008, 04:34:35 pm Just say no to Olindo.
Title: Re: Olindo Mare to have FA visit with Fins Post by: DolFan619 on March 26, 2008, 04:36:13 pm I would rather take my chances with Dave Rayner than Olindo Mare. Mare is done.
Title: Re: Olindo Mare to have FA visit with Fins Post by: Slippery Soap on March 26, 2008, 04:40:12 pm Oh C\'mon Olindo was great!
Dont you guys remember the kick against the Broncos in 2002? Or all those winning fieldgoals? When he had to punt? His charitable contributions? Title: Re: Olindo Mare to have FA visit with Fins Post by: StL FinFan on March 26, 2008, 04:44:18 pm WAS is the operative word here.
Title: Re: Olindo Mare to have FA visit with Fins Post by: Dave Gray on March 26, 2008, 04:57:28 pm I really liked Olindo at one time, and didn't even mind paying big money for a reliable kicker. However, something has happened to him and he just can't get it done anymore. I don't think it's worth entertaining bringing him back.

Its just lately he has been suking donkey-nuts. Omg his stat from the Saints says it all. He was suppose to be a hell of a lot better at indoor kicking than outside. I also like Jay Feely but his kickoffs really sux. He lucked up against Baltimore! I thought Miami Had a Plan to let Brandon Fields take kickoff duty ??? Maybe he should be brought in as a punter and we should get rid of Brandon Fields. Title: Re: Olindo Mare to have FA visit with Fins Post by: Dolphin-UK on March 26, 2008, 05:43:19 pm Brandon Fields has a cannon leg, he just struggles to convert that cannon into a trajectory conjucive to height AND distance.
Title: Re: Olindo Mare to have FA visit with Fins Post by: Slippery Soap on March 26, 2008, 06:05:02 pm We cant get rid of Brandon Fields he is was a huge part in the big train robberry of 2007 which Scam Cameron got suckered into by Bill Belicheat.
Title: Re: Olindo Mare to have FA visit with Fins Post by: fyo on March 26, 2008, 06:11:51 pm Let's hope a new special teams coach can get that part of our game in gear again. We've been sucking for years in special teams.
Wrt Brandon Fields, I'm not convinced the problem is his trajectory. Over the past 3 or 4 year, we've completely gutted our special teams. All those guys whose sole contribution was on special teams, well, they're gone. I'm thinking of guys like Tony Bua, who really delivered on special teams, providing energy and great tackles, but who failed to catch on outside of special teams. Well, the new management has certainly done a lot in that area already (in addition to getting us a new ST coach), acquiring guys like Keith Davis, Nathan Jones and Tab Perry. All guys whose success has been almost exclusively on special teams. Title: Re: Olindo Mare to have FA visit with Fins Post by: BigDaddyFin on March 26, 2008, 07:24:46 pm I don't understand that at all. How are they going to bring Mare back AFTER they ran him out of town? I think someone's agent is floating rumors again. Mare as I recall wanted to be among the highest paid kickers in the game, (in one of their better decisions) the TEAM (my front office/coach recall is a little blurry these days) said "Adam Vinateiri you ain't, take a walk." And he went to New Orleans and was terrible there.
What exactly is wrong with having Jay Feely as the kicker? He did a good job for us last year considering all the first downs we didn't make. This may be unrelated but what exactly did Feely say that now he's in hot water? Title: Re: Olindo Mare to have FA visit with Fins Post by: TonyB0D on March 26, 2008, 07:35:55 pm oh hell no, he SUCKS!!!!
Title: Re: Olindo Mare to have FA visit with Fins Post by: DolFan619 on March 26, 2008, 07:44:29 pm Brandon Fields is not a bad punter. Now Mark Royals, that IS a bad punter. I think the punt coverage teams really hurt Brandon's net average and inside the 20 statistics. Granted, Brandon had his bad moments, but his upside is tremendous. Brandon is going to be one of the NFL's top punters. He has that kind of talent.

Why would we want to get rid of our 2007 team MVP, yeah sadly he was our best player. I assume you are talking about the Welker trade. First off, a lot of people feel it was a good trade, as it netted us Satele. Secondly, Fields was not in any way connected to that trade. Fields was selected with the pick the Fins got from St. Louis for signing Donnie Jones (he was a restricted FA). Title: Re: Olindo Mare to have FA visit with Fins Post by: fyo on March 26, 2008, 09:51:59 pm I assume you are talking about the Welker trade. First off, a lot of people feel it was a good trade, as it netted us Satele. Just for the record, count me in as one of those. And I STILL think it was a good trade. The only thing I don't like, and didn't at the time, is that he was exactly what the Patsies needed: A good slot/possession receiver. If he winds up parlaying his success in New England into a big contract somewhere, I predict he will crash and burn in spectacular style. Title: Re: Olindo Mare to have FA visit with Fins Post by: doctord56 on March 26, 2008, 10:32:00 pm I don't think Welker will "crash and burn". Wes is a good player and a hard worker. This past year he was in the perfect situation in the most productive offense in NFL history and with Randy Moss drawing lots of attention. As a result, his stats were gaudy. But wherever Wes is, he'll play hard and make a positive impact.
Be that as it may, I don't regret getting Samson Satele with that extra second round pick, and in a decade I predict we'll look back and see that the fins ended up with the better end of the deal in the long run. At least I hope so. Title: Re: Olindo Mare to have FA visit with Fins Post by: fyo on March 26, 2008, 11:26:46 pm I don't think Welker will "crash and burn". Wes is a good player and a hard worker. I think he'll do great as a slot receiver wherever he goes. He's perfect for that. But if you look at the hype he's getting, he's not being called a slot receiver. Even the Patsies' depth chart started referring to him as their #2 WR. That's all fine and well, but he rarely lines up wide. All I'm saying is that IF some team decided to buy into the Welker hype and make him their #1 receiver.... crash and burn, baby. Even as a real #2, I doubt he would be very successful. Title: Re: Olindo Mare to have FA visit with Fins Post by: MUCPhin on March 27, 2008, 09:15:29 am Olindo was one of my favorite players I hope he resigns. Let me guess, you used him on Madden '08 and he was rock solid in the kicking game? Title: Re: Olindo Mare to have FA visit with Fins Post by: CF DolFan on March 27, 2008, 09:38:40 am Feeley for FGs and Mare for kick-offs would be awesome if we could do it.

I think that's exactly what he did!!! LOL Title: Re: Olindo Mare to have FA visit with Fins Post by: Defense54 on March 27, 2008, 01:51:09 pm Maybe the Tuna just needs a caddy..................

Fields was selected with the pick the Fins got from St. Louis for signing Donnie Jones (he was a restricted FA). That was one of the stupid decisions of the Cameron/Mueller Era. Why the hell would you take a punter with a pick you got for a punter? Why not just resign the good punter (Jones) Title: Re: Olindo Mare to have FA visit with Fins Post by: StL FinFan on March 27, 2008, 02:43:36 pm money
Title: Re: Olindo Mare to have FA visit with Fins Post by: Rick on March 27, 2008, 10:20:10 pm ESPN.com reporter John Clayton is reporting that Olindo Mare has signed a 2 year deal with the Seattle Seahawks. He will not be back in Miami, thank god.
