Does anyone do this?

I recently went through my garage and pulled a bunch of crap out that I no longer want, but may have value to someone else.  I have been posting stuff on eBay and I have been selling things pretty well.  I sold an old-ass tape deck stereo from my first car ever which I had in storage for like $10.  That's like trading the old-ass stereo for 3 gallons of gas! 

So far, I have probably made close to $200 by selling old crap I don't want.

So, anyone else ever have any success selling stuff on eBay?

I've sold stuff in the past, and had a lot of success. Usually I sell items that do have value- like an $250 ice hockey goalie mask that I used for one season of roller hockey and then sold for $200.
I have a ton of stuff in the basement that I never threw out because I always thought "I can sell it on eBay".

Make sure to report the income to the IRS!

I've been selling all my old books on Half.com. I've made about $100 or so. I like it.
Up next, selling all of the crap my ex left in my house. Yay.

I sell stuff on Ebay, but it's usually tech stuff, like games or something.

If you get a game, beat it, and then sell it back on Ebay, you can get good, good value for it.

SportsChick and I recently sold a crap-load of games back to GameStop and made enough money to pre-order GTA4.  I wasn't having much luck selling them on eBay, so I took what I could.

Yeah, old games aren't great on Ebay.  Gamestop is convenient, but the amount you get is very little.

I bought Bioshock for $50 bucks, played it for 2-3 weeks, and then sold it back for $42.  You have to do it for games that you don't plan on holding on to for years.

I held Bioshock too long, thinking I'd play it again.  I sold it back for like $25, but it woulda been worth a lot more had I sold it right after I beat it. 

Brian, if you're looking to trade/sell games, I recommend a site called GameTZ.com.  It's really cool, and it's free to use.  It's not great for getting new releases, but if there's that 6 month old game you always wanted to try, it's a good place to pick it up for your old games.

The ebay fees,the shipping fees,waiting to get paid....

Most of the stuff I want to possibly sell,I'm just not sure it's worth putting on Ebay...

I recently sold my old lawn mower through a Local T.V. stations website,where they have free online classifieds..(that was Last week).I also sold my old dodge truck through a classic Autos Website where it was free,but paid like $10 for some extra features..but the Add wasn't going to run out till it got Sold..

If you price you item right, your fees will be covered by the buyer.  You need to play a game of trial-and-error, and most people inflate their shipping charges to cover the paypal and ebay fees.  In addition, the use of paypal makes it alot easier to accept payments and ebay and paypal are hand-in-hand now and very well integrated.  not only that, but paypal allows you to pay for shipping and print prepaid labels for your shipments so you can just have the postman come and pick them up from your house.

It has gotten a lot easier than it once was.

And Dave, I have tried GameTZ but people wanted to trade Fuzion Frenzy for Halo3 and no one was very receptive to "fair" trades.

I use to sell DVDs internationally through ebay and I ended up making a profit of 110%.  One time I made a ridiculous sale. I bought this one DVD for 15 bucks and sold it to somebody from Australia for 75.  If you can find an item that is hot and cheap, you can make a pretty penny off of ebay.

I prefer Craigslist because it is free, and as a buyer you can see the merchandise before paying and you don't have to pay the inflated shipping fees.  I've had moderate success selling some crap on ebay - but I'm more of a buyer.  2-3 years ago it was Thomas the Tank Engine characters.  Last year it was slot car racing stuff.  This year... Hot Wheels track.
