Title: Your posting habits. Post by: Dave Gray on April 21, 2008, 04:35:48 pm Do you notice any patterns on the way you post / the threads you post in?
I notice that I rarely, rarely post in Lil B's off-topic threads. I read them, and they're interesting, but I usually don't have knowledge in his question areas, and am just not able to help him. Usually, where he has questions, I have no knowledge. And his stories and stuff about his job or personal life are so out of the realm of what I do or know about that I wouldn't be able to post anything intelligently. In terms of Dolphins stuff, I don't have a lot of back and forth in my chats, like I do with off-topic stuff. Usually, I pose a question and then just listen. ...or if I have an opinion, I just post it, but I rarely debate any of that stuff. You? Title: Re: Your posting habits. Post by: StL FinFan on April 21, 2008, 05:16:59 pm I have quit posting so much. At least I think I have cut down. I read a lot on other sports and anti-fins but rarely post there. I feel like I am reading more and writing less.
Title: Re: Your posting habits. Post by: Brian Fein on April 21, 2008, 05:36:51 pm I rarely post in the football forums anymore, since there's not much to talk about there. I like to post about controversial stuff or get experiences from other people.
Title: Re: Your posting habits. Post by: bsfins on April 21, 2008, 07:08:50 pm I'm not sure how to take Dave's comments.....But I guess I could say the same for alot of the game, and movie threads....I love reading Movie reviews, and there are some movies that I've gone and rented just based on a review I've seen on the board....Unfortuantely I can't really comment,on directors, the writers, and in depth details of a movie.... :-\
I,like St.Louis tend to read alot of the anti fins, other sports sections, but rarely post there....I do admit,I very rarely like getting into the the politics, and religion threads...they tend to bore me to death.... I guess I'm going to start thinking about my post habits more, from now on .... modified to add...I do miss hearing some peoples opinions in the Dolphins sections...Alot of people that I really respect, and enjoy hearing their opinion..don't say much there any more....I still wonder who they'd like to see drafted.... Title: Re: Your posting habits. Post by: cyan on April 21, 2008, 07:23:14 pm I'm sort of in between Dave and Lil B, apparently.
I've got the knowledge to discuss the movie and game topics, like Dave. But unlike him, I do tend to enjoy debating the back-and-forth of those types of things. Sometimes those kinds of extended discussions (here, on other boards, and in real life conversation) have led me to change my stance on something, or at least realize something I didn't previously. Also, some movies or games I'd never consider seeing or playing, I've actually gone out and bought as a result of learning something about them through a discussion. Title: Re: Your posting habits. Post by: Defense54 on April 21, 2008, 07:39:32 pm I notice People either really like me or they hate me. :P
I really dig the place though. Title: Re: Your posting habits. Post by: Buddhagirl on April 21, 2008, 08:45:49 pm I've been cruising through and hopping in what I want to hop in. I've been avoiding most of the religous stuff for some reason.
This is the only spot I go. I've never even been in the other topics. Title: Re: Your posting habits. Post by: Sunstroke on April 21, 2008, 10:18:50 pm I have an intricate posting pattern that can only be discerned by reading the odd numbered posts followed by the even numbered ones daily, while looking at the screen sideways using only your peripheral vision. Yeah, yeah, you laugh, but a year or so after my death, someone will actually try this, and you'll all see the clear path of the mad genius who wandered among you. ;) Title: Re: Your posting habits. Post by: fyo on April 22, 2008, 05:01:47 am I generally stay clear of any threads that get into religion.
I read and post in these forums for the debate (and news, to some extent). True debate requires the willingness of participants to be swayed by other people's arguments. By that logic, debate isn't possible in religious threads. You can extend this away from religion (as in Christianity, Buddhism, Islam etc) and apply it to people who are "religious" in their belief that their opinion on something is the absolute truth. Those threads decay into meaningless headbutting pretty quickly as well. Title: Re: Your posting habits. Post by: Thundergod on April 22, 2008, 07:57:46 am Politics and religion threads, no interest.
Love off topic. Dave's and Guru's threads are always somethin' to look forward to. And since Cyan's really the only other multi platform gamer (especially PC), I tend to like to see what he has to say. Dolphins talk gets boring during the offseason, as does any sport of course. And sometimes the homerism gets a bit frustrating, so I steer clear of certain things. Anything else is up for grabs, it has to really be interesting. I try not to repeat what others say if I absolutely agree, which is why most of my replies are mostly numerous variations of "word". Yeah yeah, I won't make a big deal when I hit a milestone post count since those don't count. :D Bottom line is this is the only message board I've actually stuck to for more than a month. Even though things sometimes get a little rough there's alot of respect here between people and I dig that. Title: Re: Your posting habits. Post by: MaineDolFan on April 22, 2008, 11:20:08 am I avoid any post that has the letter 'e' in the title. That is my rule of thumb.
Actually - my trends: I post a lot in this forum and 'other sports.' Man...I better. I'm the moderator in that one. I almost never even view anything in anti-fins. There is only so much forced pot stirring I can take. I read most of the topics in around the NFL and almost never contribute. I contribute a little more in the Fins thread but not by a lot...but I read just about every thread in that forum, too. |
