Title: Doing the right thing?
Post by: bsfins on April 22, 2008, 02:24:45 am
I'm laying on the couch flipping between NFL total access, and one of my favorite movies Stir Crazy..It's hot I have my front door open, but the screen door locked...I suddenly hear...I hear something outside...."Sir!"...I'm thinking was that outside or something on T.V. I hear it again..."Sir!"
I get up to see, what it is..My two Wonderful watch dogs fast a sleep...There is some lady standing there by my truck,"I'm pregnant, and my car is out of gas can you give me a ride somewhere?" I peer to the left, and to the right and don't see a car,and she doesn't look very pregnant at all......(I'm a half a block away from a convenience store) My dogs finally wake up...and start growling....I said to her,Sorry I can't afford to help...She replies,I don't need money, I need a ride....I said Sorry I'm in for the night.....Then my dogs go nuts Barking...She turns and walks away...

I feel guilty, for not helping...If it was daylight..I might have acted differently.(it was just about 12:30 am).....but I just had a bad feeling like I was going to get mugged,or my truck stolen....

I know most of you live in larger cities,am I letting my small town Golly shucks,I should have helped her out get the best of me?

Dude, in these times you just never know.  For all you know that belly was a bag of weed and her boyfriend was hiding in the bushes with a shotgun or something.  And even if she was legitimately pregos she still coulda been a crazy with a meth addiction.  I woulda offered her to call a cab and see her reaction then...

(I'm a half a block away from a convenience store)
Major set up.  She gets you out of the house and her accomplices clean you out.

My dogs finally wake up...and start growling....I said to her,Sorry I can't afford to help...She replies,I don't need money, I need a ride....I said Sorry I'm in for the night.....Then my dogs go nuts Barking.
Never doubt the dogs.... (and I hate dogs - all they do is poop and rip up your yard.  I haven't yet met a city/suburban dog that isn't called  "shut up", "get down", etc.).

I think you did the right thing. Why would you go to someone's house if there is a convenience store up the street? It makes no sense.

Good call B. From what you described everything just seemed wrong. With the way the world is nowadays, it is the reason I trust no one.

I grew up in small town America, so I connect with a lot of your stories. I wouldn't have helped either.

B- I wouldn't have helped either. It all seems too fishy to me.

Who goes up to someone's house?  Red flags everywhere.  You can't be too careful these days.

I would have turned on my flood lights that make night seem like day in my yard.  Grabbed by 9mm.  Slowly walked outside screaming "put your hands up!  Get them up!  UP I SAID!!!!!!  Pee on this stick!  PEE ON IT, BITCH!"

If the test came back positive then I would apologize for calling her a bitch and then I would drive her to the store.

I did the same thing the other day Maine, except it wasn't a stranger and we just used a stick out of the yard.

Hmm....I probably would've done some third option.

Like let her use the phone, or offered to call her a cab.

smart move B. But I don't like the idea of leaving your front door open, even with a screen door.
