Title: Update on Bond 22 - Quantum of Solace
Post by: ethurst2 on May 05, 2008, 03:16:50 pm
From what I've been reading, this movie is supposed to rival the best Bond movie of all concerning content (On Her Majesty's Secret Service). Dave is the resident Bond expert so Dave, correct me if I'm wrong.

After the Casino Royale book written by Ian Fleming, wasn't "On Her Majestys' Secret Service" supposed to follow that? In Casino Royale, he's hurt as far as the death of Vesper Lynd swearing he would never love again until he meets Tracy (The Princess....etc). Then once Tracy dies at the hands of Blofield, that makes him more harder and he turns to using women as objects, not wanting to ever be heartbroken again.

When Connery started the Bond series, they were introducing Dr. No as the first film when it should have been 'Casino Royale", "On Her Majesty's Secret Service", "Thunderball", 'Diamonds Are Forever" and then "Dr. No".

Craig is second to Sean Connery because he's playing James Bond by Flemings novels and not according to what most fans grew up on (Roger Moore, Pierce Brosnan and even Connery in Diamonds Are Forever).

Craig is closer to Timothy Dalton who tried to resurrect the vision of Ian Fleming through "The Living Daylights" and "Licence To Kill".

And Quantum of Solace is  supposed to pick up 20 minutes after the ending of Casino Royale.

Look out for Quantum of Solace!

By the way, best James Bond song for a movie? Paul McCartney and Wings, "Live and Let Die"

I'm the resident expert?  It sounds like you might have that job.

I didn't know that Quantum of Solace picked up on the heels of Casino Royale.  I heard that it was an Ian Fleming short story adaptation.

I think that Craig is my favorite Bond.  I liked Brosnan, but it was a different time, and he was a super-hero type.  I liked Moore, too.  ...and Connery.  And the others.  I've been fine with the different Bonds, but I like the Craig direction they've taken the series.

There are many good Bond songs.  Some of my favorites include:

You Only Live Twice (probably my favorite one)
A View To a Kill
Live and Let Die
The World is Not Enough
