Us Dolphins Fans are a diverse bunch spread out all over the Country (even the world). Whats your favorite Baseball Team? I grew up in NYC and Hate the Yankees with a passion almost as much as the dreaded Green Jets, But I LOVE the Mets. (last year was a tough one for me after that missed playoff choke and the 1-15 season :P :'(

The early 70's I was 1 happy 7 year old! The Mets and Tom Seaver in the world series, the 72 Dolphins.

Who's your favorite MLB team?

Red Sox.  I support the Patriots, Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics and Revolution.

I respect that. I'll never understand people who support every home team, and hating a certain one (usually NFL). Strangest thing.

Like me?  Simple explanation :  Bill Bidwell took the Cardinals and left.   I needed a new team.  I picked the Dolphins.  Rams moved here.  Everyone jumped on the bandwagon and started acting like idiots.  I stuck with my adopted team.  The end.

^^^^ Everybody had different reasons for adopting teams.  I think I am Red Sox fan more b/c my dad is Yankee's fan than that I lived in New England. (I love my dad, but everybody goes thru those phases growing up)

My dad is a Giants fan.  But he was also briefly a Patriots fan, and then a Jets fan b/c of his admiration of Bill Parcells.  He stuck with the Giants though when BP coached the hated Cowboys.  I haven't asked him if he is a Dolphin fan this year. 

I know one lady who became a Dolphin fan at age 4 even though the only thing she knew about football is her dad watched it on TV.  Her motivation for the team was solely based on a love of flipper and his ilk. 

The Cubbies, but I have always had a sweet spot for some reason for the KC Royals.

even though i am technically in Red sox country, i became a blue jays fan because i am comfortable with the team, i never go with the home team, just the team i am comfortable with. and a little bit could have done with the fact that i was on a tee ball team called the blue jays. can't really pinpoint why i chose them, been a fan my whole life.

My fav team overall, raptors, maple leafs, blue jays, Sabercats (Arena Football), New Hampshire fishercats and any team in the blue jays system. and Dolphins. i am all over the place. But i do cheer for the home town team the University of Maine hockey team.

Padres sine Nate Colbert was our best hitter...

Marlins since the early 90's, when I lived in Portland, ME and got addicted to their AA Seadogs squad.

Giants...I lived in San Fran and used to go to their games all the time.  This was like 1 or 2 years after Florida got the Marlins too, so they were always my second team.

Thats me. I'm 3 for 4 as far as Philly teams go. Flyers, Phillies, Sixers, Fins. Thats my teams.

I rep my hometown teams. (even though I was a Cowboys fan growing up, and realized it was stupid rooting for a team I had no association with. It was like rooting for China in the olympics lol)

I am curious, what turned you off of the eagles and on to the dolphins?

Its sometimes the silliest things. When I was 5, someone bought me a Dolphins sweatshirt for Christmas (no idea why they did it). But that became my team.

Cincinnati Reds.I used to go to their spring training back when they were the"big red machine".Ted Kluszewski was their hitting coach and he made sure all of us kids got to meet and get autographs from the players.I can remember meeting Griffey SR. and him having to turn around and tell his boys to behave when Jr. was about 5.And before we moved to Florida I was listening to Al Michaels (before he became famous on MNF)and Joe Nuxhall call the game on my little radio with my earpiece when I was supposed to be asleep.

My team is on My Sig.   Before  Baseball came to South Fla. , I was a  NY Met  Fan !  Miss the good ole days of Strawberry, Gooden , Howard Johnson.  Ahh good times man ;D

I don't really follow baseball.  I am a much larger rugby fan.

Couldn't help but become a Mets fan. My father and Grandmother were HUGE Brooklyn Dodger Fans. They were crushed when they left for California. I was brought up to Hate the Yankees. They didn't like the Mets at first but were soon won over by some pretty great teams early on. Cleon Jones, Ed Kranpool, Rusty Staub, Felix Mian, Dave Kingman, Tom Seaver , The 70's ruled!  86 Mets were not to shabby either! Todays Mets have No personality whatsoever. Good........far from great and VERY boring to watch.

The Giants (NFL) don't count as NY teams to me becuase they play in Jersey. Why do they syill hold on to the Name?  I just never liked the Jets from day 1. I was6 yrs old and shopping in Sears for a Winter coat with my mother. I flatly refused the Green Jacket. I hated the color and still do to this day.  I almost got the Bears jacket becuase I liked the bear's Logo but when I saw the Aqua and Orange Dolphin it was all over!  My mother just wanted me to get something I liked so I wouldn't lose it. 

Thats all there is to it for me.  Been a fan ever since. By 78 I was draging my dad to Shea stadium to watch the Dolphins play the Jets . God I hate that team. It will crush me if we don't get a championship before they do.

Why don't you dig the Eagles? Nothing wrong with it....just wondering why? Thats a HARD place to be a phins fan bro...........

I could have sworn the Jets and Giants collectively play at the same Jersey stadium.

They do.  The Giants moved there in '76, the Jets in '84.  For some new yorkers who football formative years where between 76 and 84 went with the Jets b/c they were a new york team (unlike the Giants)

Neither team lot many fans b/c either move b/c this was not seen as abandoning the fans (unlike the Colts midnight move)

As soon as the Bills move to Canada New York will have three teams that don't even play in there state, I guess only in New York.

I don't have a favorite MLB team, but my favorite baseball team is the Seattle Mariners. 

I started off a fan of the Red Sox.  When I first got an interest in sports, it was basketball and baseball.  At the time, the Lakers/Celtics rivalry was big, and I started to follow Larry Bird.  At the same time, I used to watch some baseball and liked Roger Clemens.  It was really more of a collecting thing, with baseball cards.

There were no Marlins or Heat at the time.  So, since the Heat and Marlins have been around, I cheer for them, as well.

That makes the Jets an even bigger Joke.  Its called GIANTS STADIUM.  When the Giants play the Jets guess who is in the visitors Locker room?  The Jests. Can you imagine Playing in the Vistors locker room in your own stadium?   I used to go to all the Dolphins/Jet games there. The just put up Big Green pads to cover up the Blue and Write Jets in the Endzones.  They are the ONLY NFL team without their own stadium. Even new teams like The Arizona Cardinals are getting a new stadium and the Jets remain homeless.  Most High school teams I know even have a Home Turf.

Isn't that determined by who is scheduled to be "home"?  When NYJ and NYG played this year, according to the schedule it was a "home" game for NYG and an "away" game for NYJ.  Similarly, when NO played their "home" game @ NYG after Katrina, weren't the Giants in the visitors' locker room?

Anyway, as for the topic:

I don't like any of the local teams (my opinion of them varies between indifference and utter hatred, depending on the team).  My favorite teams are:

Cleveland Indians
Seattle Supersonics (for now)
Miami Dolphins

I cheer for anyone Soriano is playing for. I heart him.

Actually Giants stadium has a grand total of four locker rooms.  Giants, Jets, Visitors and a second visitors one for when there is a event not involving either team.  (e.g. a soccer game) When the Jets play the Giants, the visitors locker room is not used. Who is "home" determines whose season ticket holder get to go to the game. 

The Name up on the Stadium is GIANTS stadium. The Jets are a bunch of Homeless Gypsies as far as I'm concerned.

How did a thread about baseball turn into a discussion of Giants Stadium?

I like Cleveland.  The Indians got me into baseball largely because of the movie Major League.  Favorite Indian of all time: Jim Thome.  I played first base and left field in high school I also had a similar open stance that mimicked that swing of his.  I wore number 6 (my favorite fictional player, also Major League, Clue Haywood)

It's still one of my favorite movies.

I also may be the one person in America who is Yankee-neutral.  I get bored with them when they win all the time but they've had so many historically significant players that it's hard not to have some form of respect for them.  I particularly admire Babe Ruth Mickey Mantle and Lou Gerhig. 

Anytime we can turn anything into a Piss on the Jets thread..........its a good thing.  ;)

Well, I can't argue with that, but I do like other sports, too.
