I had a gift card from Costco for some time now, and I was waiting for the Wii to come in stock.  So, I stopped in yesterday, and it was there, so I grabbed one.

It came with Mario Galaxy, Wii Sports, and and Wii Play, with 2 controllers and 2 nunchucks.  So far, I've only done the initial setup, browsed the various features of the weather channel, stores, etc, and played one level of Mario Galaxy.  I'm surprised at how bad it is visually.  At the same time, though, Mario Galaxy is still fun, and a very different way to go about a platformer.

I am planning on picking up Wii Fit when I can find it.

I visited a friend in tampa over the weekend who had Wi. We played bowling until about 4am Saturday morning. I love bowling, and the game makes you feel you're in a real alley. I have Xbox 360 so i dont ill be purchasing Wi, but it looks like fun.

Dave - it's not supposed to rival PS3 or 360 in visuals.  Part of the enjoyment of the Wii is that the graphics are a little...well...Atari 2600.

When you start getting 'normal' games for it  - it gets a lot better. 

We bought the Wii Fit last week and it's awesome.

I know it's not supposed to be graphically on par with the others.  ...which is fine.  It's just sort of jarring to play PS3 and 360 during the day, and then hook up the Wii on my 42" HD.  I was like..."damn."

But, I think it's going to be kinda like my DS.  At first, I was trying to find traditional handheld games for the DS, but ended up having more fun with puzzles, suduko, crosswords, etc.  ..basically, finding what works best for the system.  I imagine I'll do the same thing with the Wii.

EA Sports Tiger Woods '08 is frikkin' addicting.  It's so hard that it is frustrating as hell.

and you're right about finding the right games for the system.  the wii is about having good times and playing fun games with others.  there's just something appealing about cracking a few beers and playing wii bowling or home run derby

The LEGO Star Wars game for Wii is fun. Me and Josh play regularly. And Rock Band comes out next week!

I was thinking about getting the Lego Indiana Jones game.  I played a little of it the other day and it was pretty fun.

I bought Mario Kart Wii, and that's pretty cool.  Tried a shooter game on it and it was really tough to move the character with one control and aim a gun with the other...I'll figure it out.  The Wii's a nifty little console.

Dave, you may want to check out Boom Blox as well. It was designed by Steven Spielberg and its very addicting. Great party game too.

I've heard good things about Boom Blox.  I'm hesitant to spend 50 bucks on it though.  It just doesn't seem like it has a lot of depth.  I'll grab it eventually, I'm sure.

I'm loving 2k8's baseball game on the Wii.  Once you get the pitching down it's a lot of fun.  And...it's really hard!

I've read the best game so far is No More Heroes (or something like that).  It doesn't incorporate the Wii-mote as much but its supposed to be pretty awesome.  Tiger Woods is fun.  Not exactly the best thing but Ms. Guru and I have spent some good times swinging an invisible golf club.  :)

Rock Band rocks!

I am curious about this console, what I have seen the graphics are lacking, but the games are interactive. So how do you rate it so far ? Sounds like Tiger woods and bowling rocks.

It depends on what you're looking for.  If you want to play the best video games, it's not for you.  If you don't really play many games, but just want something that's approachable and fun, it's great.  The games don't have the same amount of depth, realism, or connectivity with competition, but it's very "pick up and play" and accommodates multiple players very well.

I did pick up Boom Blox tonight, by the way.  ...haven't played it yet.
