Title: He's NO GOOD: Former Dolphins kicker Jay Feely, given the boot in Kansas City Post by: DolFan619 on August 26, 2008, 08:08:01 pm After only one day of being with the Chiefs, he gets cut.
http://chiefsblog.kansascity.com/?q=node/167 Feely's out of here The Chiefs released veteran kicker Jay Feely today, one day after signing him. Feely went 11-15 on field goals Monday and 13 of 15 today but that wasn't as good as either Connor Barth (28 of 30, including a perfect 15 of 15 today) or Nick Novak (27 of 30). Barth and Novak will kick for the job in Thursday night's game against the Rams at Arrowhead Stadium. Much more to come, including some interesting comments from Feely's agent, in Wednesday's Kansas City Star. Feely loses shot at revenge, redemption By Edgar Thompson | Tuesday, August 26, 2008, 08:04 PM Kicker Jay Feely has lost his chance to upstage the Dolphins and Bill Parcells, who cut him two weeks ago. It didn’t take long. Feely was released by the Kansas City Chiefs today, a day after he signed a one-year deal with the team. The deal put Feely in a position to face the Dolphins on Dec. 21 in Kansas City. No doubt he’d have wanted a shot at a game-winning field goal after Parcells axed him in favor of undrafted rookie Dan Carpenter a season after Feely hit 21 of 23 field goal (a Dolphins’ record 91.3-percent rate). But Feely was brought in by the Chiefs to compete the past two days with two other kickers, Connor Barth and Nick Novak. Feely finished in third place. He was 24 of 30 the past two days, while Barth was 28 of 30 and Novak 27 of 30. Barth and Novak will be competing for the job Thursday when the Chiefs play host to the Rams in the final exhibition game. Feely, 32, likely will get another chance in the fickle, high-pressure world of NFL field-goal kicking, though it did take him nearly two weeks of waiting for this shot. Feely is a career 80.8-percent kicker in eight NFL season. He’s coming off his three best years, including 2005 with the Giants when he tallied 148 points and was a Pro Bowl alternate. They seem to be into over the hill Hasbeens lately. :o >:D Title: Re: He's NO GOOD: Former Dolphins kicker Jay Feely, given the boot in Kansas City Post by: YoFuggedaboutit on August 26, 2008, 10:19:50 pm I don't know of any team that has a need for a kicker. I hope he learns his lesson and has to sit out this season.

Feely in at KC on Monday out of KC on Tuesday Former Dolphins kicker Jay Feely was signed by the Chiefs on Monday. He was cut Tuesday. "It's shocking," Feely agent Glenn Schwartzmann told ESPN.com. I would say, but the agent's shock would probably wear off if he saw the kicking numbers at Chiefs camp the last couple of days. Feely connected on 11 of 15 tries Monday and 13 of 15 today. Pulling out my slide ruler, that is 24 of 30. Connor Barth connected on 28 of 30 and Nick Novak was 27 of 30 the past two days. So Feely was third in a three-man race the past two days. Given the numbers, maybe his agent shouldn't be shocked. Upon leaving the Dolphins Feely ripped the Dolphins, saying it was obvious to him how bad the team was going to be because of a lack of talent. Then, of course, he signs with a team the Dolphins dismantled, 24-0, and seemed much less talented than Miami. So while his agent is shocked, Feely should be thrilled he was cut from a team less talented than Miami. Title: Re: He's NO GOOD: Former Dolphins kicker Jay Feely, given the boot in Kansas City Post by: fyo on August 27, 2008, 03:27:15 am Elam has missed a 49, 54 and a 33 in preseason for the Falcons so far. They have Koenen to do kickoffs and really need a reliable high-pressure kicker. They've had to sign Morten Andersen mid-season a couple of times after Koenen has shown he couldn't handle the pressure. Might be a good spot for Feely.
And then there are all those teams with young kickers who looked great in practice and preseason, but will bomb once the season comes around. Happens every year. Feely will get a gig, no question.
