To answer the question, Jacksonville is a shit hole of a city and the players are just getting caught up in the environment. The city was at one point a complete cesspool.

My girlfriend lives a couple of blocks away from the New England Coffee Company. If I'm sleeping over there, I'm always woken at 5 A.M. by the noxious coffee smell that apparently no one in that city can smell but me, either because they're used to it, or they've resigned to living in a stinky city and just cope with it.
