Title: The Redskins looked terrible. Post by: Dave Gray on September 05, 2008, 02:23:59 am God. What a beat-down.
I don't even think the Giants played particularly well. Eli was lucky not to have 3-4 picks...he hit the other team in the chest on more than one occasion. * Washington's O-line is pathetic. ...no pass-protection. * Their QB sucks and scrambles around unable to make a throw. He was 2-6 in the first half. Two completions in a half -- Horrible. * Their coach doesn't know what he's doing, constantly mis-managing the play clock at the end of the game, taking too much time, and allowing his QB to throw the ball for 5 yards when you need 15. Why any receiver cuts off a route before the first down, when they need it to convert, I'll never know. The Redskins are in for a long, long season. The Giants surprised me on their D-line with how much pressure they were getting. With both of their superstar starters from last season gone, either they're really good, or Washington just blows goats. I'll take the latter. Title: Re: The Redskins looked terrible. Been saying it for a couple years now. Dude blows regardless of the line. Even T. Collins last year had a good go at it in Campbell's absence. If they can build up that line, Brennan should be fine (next year?), cuz they seriously need to come to grips that Campbell's just a good back up. Title: Re: The Redskins looked terrible. Post by: CF DolFan on September 05, 2008, 07:06:20 am The Giants gave up 45 points or something in last years season opener and finished with the mosrt dominating defense in the league. We typically look pretty good on our opening games but have failed to live up to it for numorous reasons. I wouldn't put too much credence on the first game of anyone in the NFL.
Title: Re: The Redskins looked terrible. Post by: dolfan13 on September 05, 2008, 08:20:07 am wow, taylor sure doesn't know what its like to play for a team with a crappy offense, crappy qb, and sorry coach that doesn't know what he's doing. ;D if all they have at qb is jason campbell, man it's going to be a long year for them. fins will win more games than the redskins this year...

Title: Re: The Redskins looked terrible. Post by: Phishfan on September 05, 2008, 08:56:05 am I turned the game off and watched a movie I was so disinterested.
Title: Re: The Redskins looked terrible. Post by: Frimp on September 05, 2008, 02:10:05 pm ^^^
I watched the whole thing to see if Madden dropped a Favre bomb. Scorecard: Madden, 0 Michaels 2 Who woulda thought? ;D Title: Re: The Redskins looked terrible. Why any receiver cuts off a route before the first down, when they need it to convert, I'll never know. I noticed towards the end of the game, when Campbell was throwing the ball for 5 yard gains to Antwaan Randle El, after one particular catch, he turned back to Campbell and made a angered motion downfield, as if to say "stop throwing it to me, asshole, throw it downfield, we need more yards!"Point being, the receivers run the route according to the play call. Its the QB's decision who to throw to. Title: Re: The Redskins looked terrible. Post by: Dave Gray on September 05, 2008, 05:55:38 pm ^^ Yeah, but I put that decision on the coach for calling plays the have a receiver run a 5 yard in, when you need a 15 yard out in the first place.
That was just one issue, though. The line couldn't stop anything, the QB couldn't throw or make decisions, and time management was terrible. It's going to be a long year for Skins fans. Title: Re: The Redskins looked terrible. Post by: dolfan13 on September 05, 2008, 06:24:05 pm its a west coast offense, with a lot of 3 step drop and out. very short and short routes, that is highly dependent on timing and quick decision making. towards the end of the game i think it spoke more towards campbell not having a good command of the playbook. he made terrible decisions and just really sucks...
the receivers did have some issues though. you don't cut off a route a foot in front of the marker, you gotta be more heads up than that. Title: Re: The Redskins looked terrible. Post by: Pats2006 on September 05, 2008, 08:40:33 pm There O-Line and D played like shit. 1st game,I think their D started getting better towards the middle of the 3rd, think they will be ok but the O-Line needs to give Campbell time to get a pass off.

Post by: VidKid on September 06, 2008, 03:47:42 pm that game could easily have gone 40 -0 if the giants maintained there tempo from the first couple drives. But in typical Coughlin fashion, he went conservative and that could have lost the game.
