I still think the Patriots can win the division.  The AFC is a toss up right now.

Watch out for the Steelers. No one is really talking about them but they are talented.

The Patriots are still the favorite.  Until Cassel shows me that he can take a great team and single-handedly make them terrible, the Patriots are still a great TEAM.

I agree Landlocked....The Pittsburgh Steelers have a very solid and well balanced  football team that will be a force in the AFC.   They are my pick to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl this season.

I think all the "top AFC contenders" have problems...
The Titans looked good, but lost Vince Young...
The Jaguars O-line looked shaky..
The Colts O-line looks like it could have problems, and you have Peytons' knee, rust,Addai got hurt lastnight.....
San Diego has the Least problems right now....Even with Merriman's Knee....
The Patriots without Brady....
Pittsburgh is a good choice....right now....

The biggest thing is you can't judge the season from the first week.  I'm thinking San Diego will eventually shake out on top. Some of these first week winners will fall while some of the losers will quickly rise.

There is a huge range between great and horrible.

Cassel won't turn the team into a 2-14 team, but you really can't consider the Pats the AFC favorite.  Not that I am writing them off as a possibility. 2001 could repeat itself, but they are not the favorites.

I still consider them the AFCE favorite.

Chargers I would say favorite for the AFC.

Boooooo.

Watch what the Jets do to that 'great' team this weekend without Brady.

Funny - of the three "powerhouses" in the AFC - only one of them won yesterday.

I think Patriots' fans are just doing the old "pray for the best but expect the worst" thing.

I think losing Brady does open up the AFC.

I don't trust the Chargers.....maybe it's because of Norv.  Indy looked terrible on Sunday night, but they are proven winners and I wouldn't count them out.  Titans?  Jags?  Nope.

That leaves the Steelers.  Even with Brady in NE, the Steelers would be contending.  Without Brady, I think the Steelers become the favorite.
