Title: Red Sox @ Tampa Post by: Pats2006 on September 15, 2008, 10:07:20 pm Is this a baseball game or a Home Run Derby? Sox crushing the ball tonight. Tampa fans not saying anything tonight.
Good game. Still allot of baseball left sox can retake the #1 spot. Lets see what happens! HR's tonight! Ortiz Lowell Bay V-Tek Ellsbury Youkkkkkkkkkkk....... . Keep them bats hot (http://mlb.mlb.com/images/2008/09/15/JBlNbRCf.jpg) Title: Re: Red Sox @ Tampa Post by: EDGECRUSHER on September 15, 2008, 10:51:30 pm Tampa is sinking fast. I think there is better than an 80% chance the Sox win the division, with Tampa being bounced in the first round of the playoffs.

Dont know how far they will make it in the playoffs. Sox offence will have to score allot. I dont like the Sox bullben this year but anything can happen in the playoffs. Title: Re: Red Sox @ Tampa Post by: Thundergod on September 16, 2008, 02:35:34 am sonofa... fukkin Red Sox... >:(
Title: Re: Red Sox @ Tampa Post by: SportsChick on September 16, 2008, 08:55:04 am It was a statement. It's nice to see the bats finally come alive a little bit, as there have been questions about their offense lately.
The pen is a huge question mark for them as they haven't exactly performed well this season. Heck, even Paps has blown a few games and seems to be relying on his fastball too much. Makes me wonder of there is an underlying injury there Title: Re: Red Sox @ Tampa Post by: MaineDolFan on September 16, 2008, 09:28:33 am The only way Boston and Tampa Bay see each other in the playoffs is in the ALCS. Some of you might not want to see Tampa for what they are. I do.
I want nothing to do with this team. Boston's can't get away from Tampa fast enough in my opinion. Anyone that thinks otherwise is nuts. Tampa is also playing without Carl Crawford and BJ Upton right now and just getting Longoria back into the flow of things. Write off this team and you'll regret it. Title: Re: Red Sox @ Tampa Post by: SportsChick on September 16, 2008, 10:42:16 am Tampa has very good pitching and great young talent. I don't want to face them in a 7 game series
Title: Re: Red Sox @ Tampa Post by: Tenshot13 on September 16, 2008, 04:01:48 pm ^Glad at least some of you sox fans have a brain in your head...Kazmir got crushed, but don't expect that to happen again...let's see how Sonnenstein does tonight...I love how people are still underestimating the Rays and they haven't even lost the division lead yet.
Title: Re: Red Sox @ Tampa Post by: MaineDolFan on September 16, 2008, 04:05:39 pm I love how people are still underestimating the Rays and they haven't even lost the division lead yet. Actually - yes they did. The Rays were up 5.5 on the Sox at one point and are now tied. Not sure what else they need to do to "lose the division lead." As much praise as I am willing to heap on to the Rays, and I've been doing that all season long (actually before spring training started) I would also toss this little warning to Rays fans that think over running Boston is going to be easy: You aren't dealing with an upstart team in Boston, one with a bunch of un proven vets. You are dealing with a largely in place team that won the World Series last season... is very battle tested. Boston has run uphill with a stiff breeze in their face a time or two. They were down 3-1 last season going TO Cleveland in the ALCS and pulled it out. They won't exactly be stepping aside easily just because Tampa is the sexy Cinderella team. Trust me...I worry about Boston more so than any other team...Not a team to overlook by any means as last night proved. Perez is one fast mo fo. Good game for Sonnenstine. Navaaaarrrrooooo!!!!

Navaaaarrrrooooo!!!! I was at that game with some members of my wife-to-be's family. Wow. Title: Re: Red Sox @ Tampa Post by: MaineDolFan on September 17, 2008, 08:45:46 am Good game. Last time Sonnenstine and Beckett locked up it was about the same thing. Funny thing about Sonnenstine, I actually got to spend quite a bit of time with him. He pitched for the Sanford Mainers in the 2002 season. He's a good kid, I'm glad to see him doing well.
Title: Re: Red Sox @ Tampa Post by: Sox_girl555 on September 18, 2008, 01:01:42 pm It would be nice to see Tampa win if the sox can't do it. We all know how it feels to be heart broken by your team, (for me it was 24 years before the tables turned,) so kudos to them for taking the necessary steps to turn the club around.
BUT I don't think the Rays have the stamina to make it another month, the sox do. Papi may be coming alive now, Pedrioa has been insane, Beckett is great as always and Wake we just have to hope its a good day-last night was not:( Title: Re: Red Sox @ Tampa Post by: YoFuggedaboutit on September 18, 2008, 01:05:07 pm It would be nice to see Tampa win if the sox can't do it. Title: Re: Red Sox @ Tampa Post by: MaineDolFan on September 18, 2008, 01:14:57 pm BUT I don't think the Rays have the stamina to make it another month, the sox do. I really don't want to pick on a newbie, but I guess I am getting a little tired of hearing statements like this on my show, on NESN and now peppered on this message board. What, exactly, does stamina have to do with? Experience plays some role but, in the end, talent trumps experience. I don't suppose any Sox fans that make comments like this one remember 2005? Boston took on the upstart and 'inexperienced' Chicago White Sox. You know, the same White Sox that lubed up both feet and shoved them up Boston's collective asses while sweeping them out of the playoffs in embarrassing fashion? Facts are facts. Tampa Bay is unreal at home. Boston has one win at the Trop all season. In the past six games Boston managed to win twice. Tampa Bay won in every way possible in the other four games. They blew Boston out, they won close games, they took Boston to extra innings, they won in walk off fashion. May I also remind some of you that Boston's likely round one draw is going to be Anaheim. The same Anaheim that is 8-1 this season against Boston? Here are some realities: This offense needs JD Drew who, at last check, is MIA. This team needs help in the bullpen which has been shakey, at best, since the all-star break. Even Papelbon has been struggling. Matsuzaka is lucky to not be 2-17 with an ERA of 7.65 at this point. He's the #2 starter on this team on paper and can't get out of the 5th inning. Boston's offense has little to no punch in batters 7, 8 and 9. Tampa, meanwhile, has strength in starters 1, 2, 3 and 4. They have great depth in the bullpen. Solid defense. I think it is pretty important to look at these teams objectively and that seems to get lost.
