Title: NFL Network question....
Post by: Frimp on October 28, 2008, 09:30:39 pm
I just got the network for the first time. It seems that they are only showing 3 games from the weekend. I thought they showed all the games. What gives?

The way they pick the games to replay is that they pull them out of their asses.

That sucks. I agreed to the extra 5 bucks for it. But, I've had it on for 4 hours now, and not one mention of the Dolphins. I'll give it another week, and I'm taking it off.

If you want to hear mention of  "dolphins" you will have better luck with Animal Planet than NFLN or ESPN.

Sometimes on the Classic TV channel you can get old episodes of Flipper..........

I can't imagine having a TV that I CAN'T watch NFLN on...nor would I really want to. The replays are great, but there are only 3 per week, and they are usually based on what NFLN feels will appeal to the whole country. It is all "the other" programming on NFLN that makes it a must-have though...from Total Access to the team cam segments, to Playbook...everything.

Frimp- who told you they play all the games?
I agree with Stroke, its all the other things which make the channel worth it. (Of course, its part of the basic Direct TV package, so I don't pay anything extra for it.)

You will also appreciate it when you get to watch the late season Thursday night games which are broadcast on there only.

I just assumed they did all the games because of those stupid commercials a couple years ago with Warren Sapp and Chad Johnson.

For a Long time...Dish Network, being sold through Radio shack used to say If you got the NFL network, you get to see all the games.....The Dumb asses at Radio shack would try to sell me Dish network...and I'd ask them everytime (knowing they didn't) Do you have NFL Sunday ticket? They'd Say Nope, We've got the NFL network, and they show all the games...I told them I get it with my Direct T.V. and They Don't show all the games...then they throw me out of their store.....

sorry for the hijack....

I watch NFL network every morning, so I would say it is worth it.  I think of it sort of like my homepage on my computer.  I turn on the TV, it goes to NFL network and wahla, I am totally up to speed within 30 minutes.

Don't forget that you can only get preseason on NFL network as well.  You may have to record it in the middle of the night, but you get it.  I also prefer the pregame stuff more than ESPN, FOX, CBS, etc.

Although sometimes it seems like they pull the 4 games per week "out of their ass".  I think they usually get 3 out of the 4 best games of the week fairly consistantly.

This morning the NFLN was playing last weeks pregame show.  They all picked San Francisco to roll over Seattle.

Warren Sapp is way out of his league on the NFLN.  Perhaps if they teamed him with Deion and Michael Irvin then he wouldn't seem so out of place.  His childish antics while the others were talking where humorous at first but quickly grew tiresome.  Except for being jovial, he didn't add much to the conversation.  Between he and Marshall Faulk, who he was on with today, it's easy to tell which person went to school to study, and which went to school to play football.

Both hilarious.

I like the old school bloopers and follies.  Ever see the one from the 60's with the Bears mascot that talks shit every time the team isn't doing well?  How Butkus didn't kill him is beyond me.

You paid an extra $5, and thought you were going to get every single game on the NFL schedule? Really? Also...you've watched for a whole whopping four hours before being ready to give it up? Nice staying power there. ;)

NFL Network gets you the Thursday night game that you can't watch anywhere else, and a condensed replay of 3 other games from the weekend, of which at least one was a nationally televised game. This is in addition to ALL of the other great shows, from Team Cams to Playbooks.  You want to get EVERY game? DirecTV and Sunday Ticket...and the Sunday Ticket package is $299 per season.

$5 per month for all the games in the NFL would be wonderful...but not very realistic.

You can watch the majority of the game on NFL.com on Thursday nights live streaming...all though it is annoying that they go to the studio in the middle of the game, you usually only miss plays that aren't a big deal, and when it comes down to crunch time, they don't go to the studio.

Having any sort of television setup where I can't watch the NFL Network would simply be an unacceptable situation. I'm on that channel more than any other, including ESPN.
