Before all the debates I was all for McCain.  Then he picked Palin as his VP.  I figured this was his game plan to get all of Hillary's votes.  So as the debates went on and Palin kept running her mouth and making a fool of her self I said defiantly not VP materail.  As I watch the VP and President Debates McCain and Palin looked to me as they were making a ass of them self's.  Palin with her "Mavericks" and McCain with "Joe the Plumber". As the debates went on it looked to me that McCain was looking worse every time. 

As I watched the debates I was growing more and more on Obama.  I seen my self agreeing with the different topics that he was bringing up during the debates. One of the things that I don't agree with is how Obama is that he wants to pull the troops out of Iraq.  But all and all I like Obama.

I don't like any of the VP's god forbid something should happen to McCain or Obama I don't think Palin or Biden could fill in as President.

No you are one of the ones who have been repeatedly attacking Obama as much as the self admitted Repubs without equal ferocity against McCain. Also I have yet to see a clear indication in your posts that you were a decided third party voter, yet you make a huge proclemation covering all of us. Hell you even made a thread about the GOP being racist and then cherry picked which posts to respond too. That comes across as a real Libertarian there

Voted this morning, not terrible of a line but still took just over 2 hours

I voted.  Line was about an hour. Got there at 7, right when the polls opened.   Looking forward to watching CNN tonight and the states on their election map turning blue. 

I waited 3 hours to vote on Saturday. Obama, of course.

I was in and out in less than 5 minutes....
I went Obama...The Health care issue was the deciding factor for me...

I am heading out in a few minutes.  Mr StL said the parking lot was so full on his way to work that people were parking wherever.  He gets 2 hours off work today to vote, if he choses, so he is leaving work 2 hours earlyl.  I will have my 4 year old with my so I am praying the lines are not too long.

I went with Obama. Why would you people stand in line for hours, especially voting early? I drove to my polling place, voted, talked to two friends, paid my water bill next door and drove home in less than 30 minutes.

There are 1-2 hour waits here on voting day. My mom waited 2 hours at her polling place. I don't get time off from work, either. I also have a drs appt today I need to take care rather than vote.

It was more a matter of convenience for me.

you should try to reschedule your doctor's appointment if possible.  Voting is important.

You do know that by law, your employer does have to give you time off from work to vote.

Fair enough. You took your time . listened to the issues and picked the best of the two. Mucho respect here for that. I was on the fence for most of the election becuase of my hatred of the last admin . Once again the Dems have not given us anyone of quality to vote for.  Once I listened to the debates and realized I was not going to vote for Bush or Palin but John McCain........John Got my vote.  The Palin thing still bothers me but at least she's honest. I DO NOT like Joe Biden anymore then DICK Cheney.  (What a perfect first name huh?)

Either way the Change in giverment will be welcome as GW goes down as one of the worst presidents in History.

The only hourly jobs I have had were I was allowed to take time off from work to vote, I was in a union. 

I have had salary jobs were I pretty much managed my own time, so if I was out of the office for a dentist appointment, voting or pretty much anything else it was not big deal as long as it wasn't too often and I got my work done. 

I turned around and came home.  I gave myself an hour to vote and I couldn't even get in the parking lot.  I guess I will try again after work.  >:(

Until a major overhaul of the voting system occurs, I refuse to vote or participate in the election process. Our voting system is suited for 1850, and even for those times it probably sucks.

I want to log-in, enter in my name and SSN #, fill out an online ballot, hit "Submit" and be done with it in less than 5 minutes. There is no reason why this cannot occur. If you say "someone could hack it", tough shit - get some excellent programmers and security systems in place.

Until this happens, there is no way anyone of you can be guaranteed that your vote was counted or accurately tabulated. A 3.5% Margin of Error or more from any individual precinct is reprehensibly unacceptable.

NOT voting is what we need to be doing in order for the system to change. Voting in record numbers only guarantees the same broken, shitty, time-wasting, inaccurate voting systems are still used.

I am a liberal, and vote Democrat.

However, sometimes, I vote for a guy who I think is good, but not the best.  Gore was boring and didn't excite people.  Kerry was weak.  I agreed with them on major issues, however.

Obama, though, excites me.  I think he has the potential to be the next big name in American politics.  Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, FDR, Kennedy, Reagan, etc.  I think he probably won't be able to fix everything, but that he will bring us a paradigm shift that we so sorely need and will be able to follow for the next 20 years.

I think back on big efforts -- Coming back after the depression, Creating the space program and going to the moon --  And how my generation doesn't have that big united push for a goal.  I think that green energy can be that new thing.  And I think that we need a leader with new ideas and support to get that done.

I am so excited for the prospect of Obama.  For those of you that think he's just another politician, I see it the other way.  I see multiple crowds of 100,000 and I think that this country needs that excitement to take on new challenges.  I am glad I got to say that I voted for him.

Agreed. Obama has me pumped. I think a politician that can get the people pumped is huge. Why? Because when people are pumped and see something other than status quo, they get active. People that weren't interested now are. That's how things get done in my opinion.

Lets just say ...........Iran made a fool of him.  The country went into a huge energy crisis, unemployment was off the charts, it was the birth of outsourcing products.........and don't even get me started on Disco. But he was a nice guy so that made it allright.  :|

And what about people who don't use computers? It would be a non-inclusive method and leave absolutely no paper trails. Something tells me you would have something to complain about even if they adopted your idea.

Do you think that those who are getting in power via a shitty system are going to try and change that system?  No way.  Start voting for candidates that support voting reform, if you want to change.  They aren't going to come to you.

I really liked Carter until recently. Being young and a democrat I always thought he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time and Reagan scared the beJesus out of me.  After 8 years of Reagan I realized I was wrong on both fronts... though I still liked the peanut farmer from Ga. 

His recent foreign policy trips have me changing my mind. 

I am not thrilled with his recent foreign policy trips.  But he is a very decent honest man. 

Jimmy Carter may not have been the greatest president this country ever had, but he is the greatest man to have ever been this countries president.   

  I like McCain over Obama.  I know more about him.  I know he supports me working for myself instead of me working for the Gov.  Plus, I do not want a full Dem control.

I've posted twice that I was voting ( voted ) for Barr.  How much more indication do you need?

   He was horrible.  He has set this country back with his reign.

GW isn't the only person at fault for where we are today. It's a culmination of many bad decisions by both parties.  Remember he was re-elected so his popularity wasn't always this bad and still wouldn't be now if the housing market not crashed.

I can agree to this.  I simply do not like being told the things he is telling.  He wants even more Gov & that stand directly in the way of what I believe.

  I do have a question.  I continue to hear Obama say that the rich people who work & want to spend their money the way they choose are simply being selfish.  How are the people sitting around not working & waiting for a check from Obama not being selfish?

I believe in a progressive tax system.
I believe in a secular government and oppose religion creeping into school and government.
I am pro choice.
I support gay rights and gay marriage.
I believe in a push to protect our environment and reduce man's contribution to global warming.
I oppose short term solutions to long term problems (offshore drilling, as opposed to green energy).
I support a culture of intellectualism.
I believe in increased diplomacy.
I reject the withering of rights in the name of terrorism.
I support increased regulation in industries that have the ability to single-handedly topple our economy.
I believe in stem cell research.
I believe in a respect for science.
I believe in providing universal health care, preferably through government issued insurance.
I feel that openly criticizing your government is as patriotic as supporting it.
I support the legalization and taxation of "vices": drugs, prostitution, gambling, rather than puritanical laws trying to stop it.


That's off the top of my head.

FYI on how I stand on this.

I wanted to come back and say I did vote after work.  No line, I waltzed right in and out. 

I congratulate President Elect Obama and hope that he can help fix our broken economy.  We all need to stand behind him, whether we voted for him or not.
