Title: Game Balls- 49ers Post by: YoFuggedaboutit on December 14, 2008, 08:09:02 pm I could find several reasons to give a Game Ball to several players.....
Game Ball to Joey Porter for making the sack that sealed the game. When it's close and you need someone to step up and make a play, Porter came through just like he's used to. Honorable Mention to Nate Jones for 2 sacks and Charlie Anderson for a sack and harassing Sean Hill all day long. Whatever...he gets a game ball.

Parcells keeps finding us Talent from nowhere. :-* Title: Re: Game Balls- 49ers Post by: Thundergod on December 14, 2008, 08:49:18 pm Martin. Awesome grab over the defender's shoulder! ::cough cough:: Awesome.
Title: Re: Game Balls- 49ers Post by: NADS on December 14, 2008, 08:53:06 pm Really a team effort this week but Akin Ayodele had a solid game (minus the 15-yarder).

I call Shananagins on that 15 yarder....BUUUUULLLLSHIIIITTT T!!!!!! Title: Re: Game Balls- 49ers Post by: stealth3ltt on December 14, 2008, 09:15:16 pm game ball goes to defense. they let the 49ers do whatever they wanted to in between the 20's but in the red zone they haven't surrendered a touchdown in 3 games, good job

Title: Re: Game Balls- 49ers Post by: run_to_win on December 15, 2008, 01:23:24 am Game Ball to Joey Porter for making the sack that sealed the game. When it's close and you need someone to step up and make a play, Porter came through just like he's used to. I disagree. This explanation almost makes it sound like players coast until crunch time. Why not "step up" the entire game so it doesn't come down to the final drive? Three tackles and a sack, but the sack was timely so that's a game ball? Jones had 3 tackles and 2 sacks.C. Crowder 9-1 0.0 A. Ayodele 8-1 0.0 R. Hill 7-4 0.0 Y. Bell 6-1 0.0 T. Culver 6-0 0.0 W. Allen 4-1 0.0 J. Ferguson 4-0 0.0 N. Jones 3-0 2.0 J. Porter 3-0 1.0 M. Roth 3-2 1.0 As much as I want big run blocking interior linemen next April, this team really needs another pass rusher. I swear they rushed EIGHT on one 3rd and long and Hill still had time to connect to Isaac Bruce for the first down. A 3rd string QB connecting to a 36 year old receiver ... almost at will. Title: Re: Game Balls- 49ers Post by: DZA on December 15, 2008, 01:30:27 am Game ball goes to Penny and the Miami Defense
Although the D did a not so well job on Time of Possession , they were on the field too long but still manage to keep SF to 9 pts. I thought Jones did a great job but the DB blitz will bite us in the ass for more than a FG eventually. Charlie Anderson seems to be coming on as a pass rusher in the past few games. Title: Re: Game Balls- 49ers Post by: Defense54 on December 15, 2008, 07:12:56 am I call Shananagins on that 15 yarder....BUUUUULLLLSHIIIITTT T!!!!!! I didn't se it either........but I also didn't see anyone on the sidelines complain about a bad call. At least that Ref is at the dentist this morning.......... ;D Title: Re: Game Balls- 49ers Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on December 15, 2008, 09:41:44 am I disagree. Three tackles and a sack, but the sack was timely so that's a game ball? Jones had 3 tackles and 2 sacks. I didn't see the game, so I can't say who deserves a game ball. But I agree with rtw on the analysis. There seem to be an overemphasis on the 4th quarter. Not just here, but always. I don't want a QB that is great a 4th quarter final two drives comebacks. No, I want one that has the team up by 4 TDs going into the 4th quarter so the last 15 mins of the game is garbage time. I don't want a team that make the playoffs by winning the last 4 must win games of the season. I want a team that clinches the division week 15. Title: Re: Game Balls- 49ers Post by: MaineDolFan on December 15, 2008, 03:46:47 pm I'd like to give myself a game ball for staying awake during the brutally boring second half of this game. It took two cups of coffee and a walk outside during a TV timeout, but I sacked up and got the job done!
Title: Re: Game Balls- 49ers Post by: StL FinFan on December 15, 2008, 04:48:45 pm I would like to give a game ball but no single player really stood out. I would give my game ball to the defense, except they could not contain Isaac Bruce. It drove me crazy! The offense was almost non-existent in the second half with the exception of a couple runs late in the game.
David Martin made a great catch and run for a TD. Joey Porter sealed the game with the sack, but both Crowder and Ayodele had better overall games, IMO. I think I will go with Maine and award the game ball to the fans who stayed awake during this game and the previous two. Title: Re: Game Balls- 49ers Post by: Dave Gray on December 15, 2008, 05:15:56 pm That TE that I did not even know was on our team until he caught that TD....Haynon? Haydon? Whatever...he gets a game ball. I agree here. That was our only really big play, and it was a huge one. Porter did have a good play at the end of the game, but was invisible most of the day. He was getting doubled all the time, though. I would have given mine to Carpenter, had he made that kick. He was doing very well on kickoffs, and we controlled field position all game. Unfortunately, that was a huge kick. Title: Re: Game Balls- 49ers Post by: Thundergod on December 15, 2008, 08:05:02 pm ^^^
Bro! Martin's catch was huge! Hence my game ball. Haynos was wide open when noodles threw it to him. Both big, I'll give the edge to Martin though. Title: Re: Game Balls- 49ers Post by: Dave Gray on December 16, 2008, 01:59:02 am I meant Martin. ...whoever caught the 60 yard pass in coverage. I was at the game and don't remember who it was.
