Title: Oronde Gadsden's great catch against the Raiders...
Post by: run_to_win on December 18, 2008, 10:51:54 pm
Gadsden's spectacular catch where the ball was thrown over his head to a waiting Charles Woodson but Gadsden was able to leap up, reach back and snag the ball one handed.

Was it in the 2000 Divisional playoff game at Oakland (1/6/01) or the following season at Miami (9/23/01).

Thanks.

It was #21 Eric Allen.  Woodson is #21 at Green Bay but wore #24 with the Raiders.

Yeah, I liked Gadsen a lot. Not much speed, but big, athletic, and catcher mitt sized hands.

Anyone remember which game this Chambers' TD catch was from?

I got it, rtw.  It was Opening Day (is that even appropriate terminology for football???  I know they like to call it "NFL Kickoff Weekend" or whatever ever since they had that first Thursday night game back in 2002) of 2003, our first game ever against the Texans.   As I recall, two of Miami's defensive players (Jay Williams and Larry Chester, maybe???) were supposedly talking trash to some Texans during warmups, telling them they'd "see them after practice".  At the time, Miami had won 11 Opening Day games in a row, not losing one since '91 against our arch-nemesis (at the time) the Buffalo Bills.

Anyways, yeah, that catch from my boy Chambers was from that game.  I still think it's one of the best catches I ever saw live in my life, though admittedly, it doesn't look *as impressive* in that clip you've got there, rtw.

Thanks DF.  I had a properly dated still photo of the catch - I just hadn't put 2 and 2 together yet.  I try to store/organize my Dolphin/NFL photos by date where possible.

It wasn't an issue anyway as my fancy new HD digital picture frame doesn't recognize the animated .gifs.  It has 1 Gig of memory ("4000 photos") so now I need to find ~3300 more Dolphin photos - preferably from pre-2000.

I've already scoured the internet using google.  Any ideas?  It's pretty cool to actually see all the pictures that I've saved on my hard drive over the years.   I suppose if I can't find 3300 more Dolphin/NFL star pictures then I could always hit up sunstroke for a small part of his gay-midget porn collection.

Next question ... the frame will recognize/play video, but only avi format.  All my videos are wmv (Windows Movie Maker).  Any suggestions for quick and easy conversion programs?

I was at this game live with Dave Gray and B-Fein. I vividly remember predicting a Texans upset - and I almost predicted the score exactly.

I rule.

Well, Joe, with your blatant disdain for the Dolphins, I don't think anyone would find it that surprising that you picked the Dolphins to lose, Opening Day winning streak or not.
