Title: Colts Win puts pressure on Dolphins
Post by: tubba marxxx on December 19, 2008, 02:28:21 pm
Colts beating the Jaguars last night locks up the number 5 seed for them the only 2 remaining spots Miami could get in are the number 3 seed (win the division) or number 6 seed (wildcard)

Tomorrow nights game (Dallas/Baltimore) is huge for us if Miami can't win the division......point of the story LETS GO DALLAS!

Ravens week 17 game is against Jacksonville. The same Jacksonville team that thought an NFL game only had 3 quarters last night. So, we have to win the division.

Patriots won't lose so we have to win the division.

I would love to see us in the playoffs, but would absolutely go crazy if we could manage to do it over a winner takes all game against the Jets.

Damn, that would be one hell of a game!

Besides, backing into the playoffs is no way to enter the tournament with confidence.

Me too.  I'd rather not play the Ravens in the playoffs.  Odds of Ravens losing out aren't that good though and I don't know who would slip into their wildcard slot.

AFC Wild card race:

Ravens vs. Dolphins.

If the Dolphins are 11-5, they are not in the wild card race they won the division.

If both are 10-6 Ravens win out, based on head to head.

That would also be true if both were 9-7.

Ravens vs Jets.

If the Jets are 11-5, they are not in the wild card race they won the division.

If both are 10-6:

Jets loss is to Dolphins and Ravens loss is cowboys = Ravens win on conf record
Jets loss is to Sea and Ravens loss is to Jax = Jets win on conf record
other two situations - it goes to the Strength of victory tie breaker.

If both are 9-7 SOV.

Ravens vs Patriots.

If both are 11-5 - Ravens win
If both are 10-6 and Pats loss is Bills and/or the Raven's loss is cowboys - Ravens win
If both are 10-6 and Pats loss is AZ, Ravens loss is Jax - it goes to SoV which the Raves currently lead - 55-72-3   (0.423) to 53-77 (0.408)
If both are 9-7 Ravens win.

Dolphins vs Jest

Would have to be 10-6.  Winner of week 17.

Dolphins vs NE.

If the Dolphins are 11-5, they are not in the wild card race they won the division.

If both are 10-6 and Mia beat the Jets, Mia not in wild card race they won the division.

If both are 10-6 and NE beat the Bill, NE wins
If both are 10-6 and NE beat AZ, goes to SOV tie breaker which Dolphins were winning a week ago, but I have not recalculated since.

If both are 9-7 - Ravens have the wild card spot

New Jersey vs NE

If the Jets are 11-5, they are not in the wild card race they won the division.

If both are 10-6 and Jets beat the Mia, Jets not in wild card race they won the division.

If both are 10-6 and NE beat the Bill, NE on common games
If both are 10-6 and NE beat AZ, Jets on division record

If both are 9-7, Jets on division record.

Every time you say "9-5" in the above post, you actually mean "9-7."

That is all.

Ravens win,

sort of a good news bad news type deal. Good news it lowers NE's chances at a playoff spot (i am sure not all of us would shed a tear if this happened), Bad news we have to win both games coming up to make the playoffs.

If i had to chose who i would want to go the playoffs, Jets or pats, i would pick jets everytime.

Not 100% true.  If Dolphins lose to KC and the Pats lose to Bills, Dolphins probably would win the division based on SOV.  And if Pats lose both and Mia loses to KC, Mia wins division.
