Title: Byebye Shanny! Post by: TonyB0D on December 30, 2008, 07:25:51 pm the epic meltdown continues....
Title: Re: Byebye Shanny! Post by: Denver_Bronco on December 30, 2008, 07:42:34 pm At least he drafted Jay Cutler. I can thank him for that for the next decade. A great coach, he just got stale for America's team and they decided to make a change. No big deal. It could be worse and like Miami have a different head coach every season.
Title: Re: Byebye Shanny! Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on December 30, 2008, 07:51:25 pm Don't say bye bye too quickly.
Of everyone fired this week. Shanny has the best chance of land another job quickly. And who know he might be coming to the AFCE. Title: Re: Byebye Shanny! You are really taking this postseason well. You gotta remember though, Miami had two coaches between 1966 and 1995. You should thank Shanny that he sucked balls in Oakland or LA, whichever it was at the time, which permitted his signing with the Broncos. You never know, you might roll through 7 coaches in the next 5 years. Good luck. Title: Re: Byebye Shanny! Post by: DZA on December 30, 2008, 08:48:23 pm This is a shocker.... Shanny!! wow after 14 season. Think he will end up coaching the college game

He got lucky and got a Superbowl off the Back of a lucky 6th round Pick of a runningback. I can't see why he lasted this long. Most coaches who are around that long leave when they want to. A Kick in the ass after 14 years..........Rationalize it any way you want. The Donkos suck!! :D Title: Re: Byebye Shanny! New England "got lucky" drafting Tom Brady in the millionth round and winning numerous titles.....Lets start going through every team in the history of the NFL who won a title and I will find you a 'reason' they 'got lucky' to win. Title: Re: Byebye Shanny! Post by: Brian Fein on December 30, 2008, 11:24:00 pm Denver - trying to be serious here...
Was this move something that the fans have been asking for? What's the general sentiment among the Broncos' fan-base? I mean, we all wanted Wannstedt gone, was is the same feeling toward Shanahan? I mean he's been there forever, and I personally didn't think he was on the hot seat. Is this move a huge surprise to Broncos' fans? Title: Re: Byebye Shanny! Post by: Dave Gray on December 31, 2008, 01:18:44 am I'm really surprised, like Brian. I didn't know Shanahan was in Jeopardy. He always seemed like a very competent coach. Is this a snap judgment, or has it been in the works for a while?

At least we admit we used to suck! The last 10 years were a dark period in a otherwise Great 43 years of Football. Listening to you rationalize and make excuses for your team is wearing thin. The Donkos SUCK. SUCK SUCK BLOW BITE EATME. And with a new coach they will suck for some time. Maybe even a decade worth of suckiness! Deal with it. Title: Re: Byebye Shanny! Pittsburgh and Miami have done horrible with their new coaches. I see your point..... ::) Title: Re: Byebye Shanny! Post by: SportsChick on December 31, 2008, 08:14:29 am I got in the car after running to my mom's last night to hear this news and was shocked. I didn't even know he was on the hot seat
Title: Re: Byebye Shanny! Post by: jtex316 on December 31, 2008, 08:21:49 am His track record in the last 10 years isn't what you would call "highly successful", but you're smoking crack if you believe Shannahan is not a competent, professional football coach. You don't get "lucky" and win back to back super bowls (and terell davis sucks - HE was the one who was lucky behind a great O-Line and TE, not the other way around).
Shanahan can coach anywhere he wants to. Dallas should consider firing Phillips and acquiring Shanny - he would know what to do with those offensive weapons on that squad. Title: Re: Byebye Shanny! Post by: Denver_Bronco on December 31, 2008, 11:40:54 am Denver - trying to be serious here... I can't tell you for sure because I live in NY, but from what I've seen written and online the fans were about 60/40 on firing him. I know Bowlen and Shanny were pretty much butt-buddies so for Bowlen to ax him it would have to come from the fan reaction to appease them. There was never any ultimatium issued by Bowlen, to begin or end the year, or anytime in between. Was this move something that the fans have been asking for? Post by: Defense54 on December 31, 2008, 01:45:09 pm Pittsburgh and Miami have done horrible with their new coaches. I see your point..... ::) That's because both Teams inherited a Nucleus of decent players on both sides of the ball. Can't say that For the Donkos. Your Defense is close to the worst in the NFL and there is only so much you can do in 1 draft season. Title: Re: Byebye Shanny! I heard its because Bowlen wanted to change it up and pitch for a change and Shanny didn't like the ball/leather strap in the mouth thingy(he didn't leave any room after the last set of fake teeth) so He was sent packing...........literally. :D Title: Re: Byebye Shanny! Your Defense is close to the worst in the NFL and there is only so much you can do in 1 draft season. Surely you aren't talking about the nucleus of offensive players. Cutler, Marshall, Eddie Royal and Ryan Torain are the best under-25 quartet in the ENTIRE NFL. Defensively all they need is help on the interior of the D-Line. Jarvis Moss and Elvis Dumerville are legit and having Chump Bailey and Dre Bly on the corners is way above average for a secondary when you have an actual pass rush. Back away from the crack pipe slowly........ Title: Re: Byebye Shanny! Post by: Defense54 on December 31, 2008, 04:00:42 pm Surely you aren't talking about the nucleus of offensive players. Back away from the crack pipe slowly........ Yeah.........we had the Best Running game with Ricky Williams once (almost 2000 Yds) and we didn't make the Playoffs either. We also had one of the most prolific Passers of all time in #13 and that didn't get us squat either. Like my name implies..........you need DEFENSE. A Great Defense will beat a Great offense every day of the week bro. Your Team is a shambles. You can't win anything if you score 40 points and give up 41. Champ Baily can't do it all just like JT couldn't do it all for us. If you get a decent new Head coach (BIG if) he will Trade Baily for draft picks and start a new. You are 3 years out from anything decent on defense. Lets see what your offense looks like then when they all start screaming for a new contract. Your done for the next few years. Deal with it or START smoking the pipe bro. :D Title: Re: Byebye Shanny! Yea, he shouldn't have any problem finding a new job. How many chances should a guy get, though? The next will be his third team. Norv Turner should be relegated to O-coordinator for life and Bum should get another shot before Wade. Shanny didn't get fired because the offense was bad--D is what got him sacked. It would also be a great move for them to fire their ass clown coach and hire my sister to run the team. Shanny could get something done there. Title: Re: Byebye Shanny! Post by: BigDaddyFin on January 03, 2009, 11:47:30 pm He's too good a coach not to land somewhere, but he won't likely land with the Jets or Buffalo because they don't want to pay for a head coach. He may land in Cleveland I heard, also it's entirely possible that he'll go back to being an offensive coordinator somewhere.
