Congrats to Utah for winning the undisputed national championship.

Utah 31, Alabama 17.  It couldn't have happened to a nicer opponent.  Miami and LSU fans the world around send up a single cheer.

The BCS is a joke, but this isn't new.  I hope the AP votes Utah #1.

Another MWC/WAC team goes unbeaten and isn't even considered for the national title.  I agree, the BCS is a joke and a playoff system needs to be implemented sooner rather than later.

Utah fans definitely have something to complain about.

If Texas wins next week, there will be a lot of anti-BCS screaming. It seems like an annual event at this point.

And with the way things have gone down the past two years, it is definitely justified.

I was happy to see Utah hand Nick an ass whupping.

I have to admit that it was sweet to see Nick walking off the field looking as pissed off as he did.What about Utah going into what was essentially a home game for 'Bama and whipping their ass!I think that the Utes do have a legit right to at least a split national title.

Bama was pretty much set up to win this game so nobody would bitch about the BCS system if Utah had the one loss...Oops!

  All year long I couldn't believe how many people were riding the Alabama bandwagon, especially knowing deep down how truly OVERRATED they were.  Last night, the Crimson Lied got exposed and got their asses handed to them by a SUPERIOR Utah team.

Alabama just didn't play a tough schedule. It wasn't a very weak one, but it certainly didn't merit being ranked over Utah. This game showed why.

I didnt see the game, but reading this thread makes me smile for 2 reasons...Prick Saban losing the bowl game, and yet another BCS fuck up.  ;D

To hell with the economy or foreign relations.  Obama better get this lack of playoffs fixed or his administration will be a failure. 

He has appointed most of his cabinet, when is he going to appoint a football fixit czar?

Not really as Texas is expected to crush Ohio State. If OU wins I think it should be split, but if Florida wins then Utah should get the NC as they crushed a team Florida couldn't.

i was at miami when the canes played bama in the sugar bowl in 1992... went to the game and miami had a stacked squad. playing bama in that dome is unreal, and gives home field advantage a whole new meaning.

before the utes lined up, i thought against the tide, in that stadium, boy they are going to get a severe ass beating. that is a very impressive win, and utah is quite deserving of a national championship.

however, the system they are a part of has chosen two other teams to play in its undisputed national championship game. its a real shitty system, unique only to div 1 (or fbs whatever the hell they call it) ncaa football. every other competitive sport logically awards a champion according to some kind of playoff tournament. go figure....

Food for thought......if we had a playoff we would still have arguments about what if so and so wasn't injured,etc.And college football would basically be like college basketball---the regular season would mean dick,only the tournament counts.Is the BCS flawed?Of course it is,but it is all we have.

Depends on how many teams get in. 

Reason why the regular season doesn't mean much in basketball is 65 teams get in.  If 8 teams got the regular season would be very important for basketball. 

Pro-football, pro- baseball all have playoffs do their season mean dick?  No. 

However, with pro-basketball and pro-hockey the regular season means dick because half the teams make the playoffs.   

That is why I support an 8 team football playoffs not a 32 team playoff. 

Keep in mind if you have an 8 team football playoffs it is going to be 0,1, or 2 loss teams only.  Not teams that went 6-6. 

Even with an 8 team playoff,we would have argument.Example,suppose Florida is crushing everyone they play,they play their first playoff game and lose their starting QB and WR to injury,and maybe a defensive guy or two gets banged up.Then they get beat by Utah in a close game........

Why would that mean crap?

If the Steelers lose next week because Big Ben is out does it invalidate the SB? 

If a player gets hurt in the playoffs and lose, that is part of the game.

Landlocked: People will always say "what if" about key injuries, but at least the games get played.

Every major sport has a playoff.  If some Spurs fan says, "San Antonio should have really been the NBA champs last year, but Ginobili got injured," do you think anyone else gives a damn?  Injuries (specifically, durability) are part of the sport.  Winning a poll is not.

So I guess the NFL regular season also means dick, then?  I mean, just ask New England or Dallas.

The argument that having an actual postseason tournament is some sort of bad thing is absurd.  Every other major team sport has a playoff.  Is the regular season worthless in every other sport?

You are the one who made the statement about the NFL playoffs and the SB as compared to a non exsistant college one. My question was not hyperbole, but in direct response to your statement.

I didn't make any statements; I asked two questions.  The questions were:

The rather obvious answers to those questions are:

1) we don't spend any time arguing over who the champions of the NFL are (because that is unequivocally determined by the playoffs)
2) we don't spend any time arguing over who the champions of NCAA college basketball are (because that is unequivocally determined by the tournament)

Hence, the claim that college football playoff would still leave us with just as much debate is absurd.
