January 2002 was the last time a playoff game was played in Miami.  Also the last time the Dolphins made the playoffs.  In that game, the Dolphins got a early 3-0 lead against the Ravens after recovering a fumble on the opening kickoff.  However, those were the only points they would muster that day, as Terry Allen rolled to over 100 yards rushing and the Ravens took advantage of 3 Dolphins turnovers to win 20-3.

Now, things are completely different for both of these franchises.  Miami has Chad Pennington at quarterback against a rookie, Joe Flacco.  Miami features a two-pronged rushing attack of Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams, and an opportunitistic, playmaking, and sack happy defense.

Baltimore's defense is fierce and they stopped the Wildcat in the first meeting.


Here we go.... THE DOLPHINS, THE RAVENS. THE NFL PLAYOFFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

However today goes, I am happy regardless. We have surpassed my expectations regardless.

Chad makes a rare mistake and now Murdermore got the ball at the 50. We have to get our running game going to open up the passing game for Chad. That, and our lines have to pick up, defensive AND offensive.

We've held our own so far, but I think it's obvious the Ravens have been the better team so far.

So far, the dolphins are being manhandled. Pennington doesn't look sharp, and things look grim. I am hopeful for a second half turnaround, but the Ravens just seem too tough on defense.

With only two receivers, and the Ravens tough run defense, I don't see how the Dolphins can score points.

It was just a shitty throw by Penny and a great play by Ed Reed. The refs are not at fault for that one.

And the defense really isn't playing badly. Other than the first drive to the one, the offense has been stuck in neutral.

The Dolphin defense is playing pretty well, having only given up six points.

Unfortunately, the dolphin offense is losing to the raven defense 7 to 3.

Good play by the defense not to give up any points after the third pick. They are keeping it reasonably close for now.

Is anyone surprised that the Raven's d-line is manhandling our 2nd and 3rd string guards and undersized center?

It's been a fun season everyone. There is reason for optimism next year, with another good draft and a few smart free agent pick ups. But just too many turnovers today, and the defense finally broke.

Sad to see their great run come to an end, but Cinderella's coach just turned back into a pumpkin. What a fun, fun season, a shame it had to end with a 5 turnover game. Credit to the Ravens for their win today.

BTW I was rooting for the Dolphins in this game. 

Then it applys to every football fan in the world who is not a Patriots fan because the rest of us were cheering for the Giants.

   I think anyone that enjoys an honest game that isn't dominated by cheaters were rooting for the Giants.

Actually there were a few Jets, Cowboys, and Redskins fans who hate the Giants more.

Well it sucks we got our asses beat...great season by the phins though...I'm proud of them this year...our defense is again something to be proud of, and once we get our secondary completed, will be a top tier team...I'm back on the wagon of Penny always being a stinking Jet....whose ready for Henne next year?

I have a very good friend that I work with that's a Giants fan, and the office is sometimes a horrible HORRIBLE place because its packed with Cowboys fans.... When it comes to NFC teams, the Cowboys are probably my most disliked. Which brings great stress to a good number of friendships i have, because apparently a lot of folks like them.  Since I had a few of their players spread throughout my fantasy teams I squelched my dislike for them, but was very happy to see them eliminated from the playoffs.

Really? Even the ones that weren't even a sperm sample yet  in 1972 had a stake in that game?

anyone catch the comment on how he saw mcclain at the NFL combine when he was coach of the Phins?  and said how he liked him, except he got scooped up in the 4th round?

here's the Phins first 3 rounds of picks that year, while Cam the Sham was marveling at LeRon:

1. Ted Ginn Jr. (marginal at best, will never be a play-maker, but can be used for short plays)
2. John Beck (will never see the field as a Phins starter, 26 yrs of age and almost out of the league)
3. Samson Satele (pretty good pick-up, starting Center, though has a way to go to put up there with previous C for the Phins)
4. Lorenzo Booker (I don't even have to type anything here.....sux)
5. Paul Soliai (has a total of 3 tackles this year)

Cam is actually a very good offensive coordinator, who did a nice job in San Diego and a good job with a rookie  QB this year in Baltimore. However, he is a classic example of the Peter Principle, in that he got promoted up to the level of his incompetence, and turned out to be a bad head coach. The Ravens, to their credit, picked him after last year's Miami debacle, and gave him the job he is capable of doing.

He'll probably have a good career as an OC in the Pros for years to come, though he will probably not get another shot as a head coach. Still, he is a decent guy who will help his team as an OC and make a good living for himself. He's just a shitty head coach, as well as  a poor judge of talent. But as an OC, he's good one, and credit him for landing on his feet after last year.

I do agree with your assessment, he is a good OC, it's just a shame that he put us on centre stage in 2007 and we went 1-15.

I do think his judgement of talent should be called into question though.

We need Tebow.. he was made for the wildcat.. (not lining up as a qb)

Tebow is an under rated passer...he has a cannon...he was made for the wildact...and a Tebow could add huge wrinkles to that formation...but if he comes out this year (which I doubt) we won't get a chance at him...too many other needs besides QB...we have that covered already

What a GREAT season! No way I expected to win the AFC East and make the playoffs.  I was a little miffed leaving the stadium but by the time I got on the Turnpike North I let it all go and realized we are no longer the #32  Team in the NFL. We made the Top 10 and the Tuna ain't finished yet!

Standing ovation for the Team, the coaching staff , and the administration. Hell of a season , looking forward to the draft and signing some DEFENSE and special Teams players.  8)
