Title: Unsung Heros of 2009 and do they fit into the future? Post by: dolphins4life on January 09, 2009, 12:17:33 am Sorry if this has already been posted. The dumbest poster on the forums has been VERY busy lately.
FB Lousaka Polite and RB Patrick Cobbs get my votes. Polite was a solid blocking FB and I'd like to see how many of his runs gave us first downs. He had at least 3 in the playoff game alone. Cobbs was what Lorenzo Booker was supposed to be, only better. Plus, he was a key special teams player. Are these guys free agents? If they are, do we have the dough resign them? Especially Cobbs. Title: Re: Unsung Heros of 2009 and do they fit into the future? Post by: Dave Gray on January 09, 2009, 12:20:26 am I don't see us getting rid of Cobbs. Sparano seems to like him a lot, and he's probably not the kind of player that would benefit from leaving. He's able to contribute here, and is on the coaches good side.
Polite is a good player, too, for a very limited selection of plays. I don't see him demanding a big paycheck or leaving either. Title: Re: Unsung Heros of 2009 and do they fit into the future? Title: Re: Unsung Heros of 2009 and do they fit into the future? Post by: YoFuggedaboutit on January 09, 2009, 06:55:57 am I'll have to give it to Nathan Jones as well. While he wasn't the best cover guy, he disrupted a lot of plays when performing a safety blitz, and came up with several QB sacks.

We need to resign him, desperately. Title: Re: Unsung Heros of 2009 and do they fit into the future? Post by: YoFuggedaboutit on January 09, 2009, 08:40:11 pm Yeremiah Bell has been sick all season and rarely talked about. We need to resign him, desperately. That would be perfect. He's getting up there in age, but he's got at least three good years left in him. If we draft Nic Harris, or another stud safety, he can mentor that guy. Title: Re: Unsung Heros of 2009 and do they fit into the future? Post by: NADS on January 12, 2009, 12:05:10 am Bell should be a Pro Bowler behind Polamalu as far as I'm concerned. Cobbs is a great role player and so is Polite. Nathan Jones did well but the fact that we use him a lot as a pass rusher concerns me. Was Jason Allen hurt the last few games? I thought he did pretty well this year. Alleman filled in nicely. I guess the entire O-line goes unheralded though.
