With all respect to Tommy...am I the only one that could give a rat's ass about high school players and where they sign?  I can barely keep track of the college players.

I could give two shits. The only time I paid attention was when I was doing prep sports at the Sentinel, but that's when I was paid to care.

Sorry Tommy, I gotta go with Maine on this one...don't really care...my only recruiting knowledge is that some badass LB from Georgia is signing with USF.

Keep an eye on that..... matter of fact, keep an eye on all USF's recruits.

This year will make for some interesting battles.  Word is out that FSU's improved play this year has attracted some top high school talent that they would not have landed in the past, including them plucking away a couple of recruits from UF and UM.

Stroke, any news on the Pac 10?

Ok people who don't care don't hijack the thread. Recruiting is the lifeline of any major college football team. Coaches are still scrambling to keep their classes intact or to add a few extra gems. I love NSD and if your anyone who follows football in the south, midwest, and the west coast can relate.

Tommy you want some news on USC, they could land one of the top LB's in the state of Georgia in Jarvis Jones and one of the top players in Dade County in Frankie Telfort. I'm all for Pete Carroll owning the west coast, but he's starting to migrate into the south.

I'm looking forward to all of the coverage on Wed. Canes fans what's the deal on Bryce Brown? If you spend $9.99 on his website you can find out.lol

We've got three from my Alma Matter that have committed to both the Univeristy of Florida and Miami.  I was curious if one was going to flip from the U and go to Florida. I'm looking forward to that situation anyway.

He's coming.  At least, that's what we all think.  UM's class looks strong.  Sorry about all your de-commits, there, Cowboy. ;D

No worries here. The only de-commit that im upset about losing was Greg Reid who just committed to F$U. We will finish strong. Jelani jenkins, Josh Evans, Denard robinson will be GATORS!!!!

We're also in the running for Brandon Moore DT out of alabama, Jarvis Jones out of georgia and the wildcard Trent Richardson out of pensacola. He was a solid bama committ, but he's having second thoughts. I expect him to hold for bama, but wouldn't be shocked if he changed. We'll have a top #5 class when the smoke clears.

And FSU starts off with a bang!!!  Frisco Wakeland (Texas) QB Will Secord to the NOLES!!!!  This kid has a bazooka for an arm and can run.

Brandon Jenkins just send in his letter of intent to the Noles.  6'2" 230 lbs, and a high motor at DE.  Can get bigger and stronger with a college level diet/conditioning program.  FSU is expected to rake in a stellar class of defensive linemen.

I'm keeping an eye on Andre DeBose.  He's another Percy Harvin.  While he keeps on leaning towards UF, FSU has one thing they can offer him that UF can't.... a starting WR spot his freshman year.  UF is stacked at receiver and DeBose will probably have to work his way up the depth chart.  At FSU, Greg Carr and Rod Owens graduated, Corey Surrency might not get a second year of eligibility for playing in an adult semi-pro league, and Preston Parker was kicked off the team after his latest marijuana arrest.  That leaves them with Bert Reid, Taiwan Easterling, and Louis Givens.

I would be shocked if Dubose doesn't sign with Florida.  It wouldn't kill me if he went to FSU but I'd still be very surprised based on what I know.

WHOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOO.  Greg Reid and Demonte McAllister are NOLES!!!!!!  Reid was a major coup de grace who originally committed to UF.  McAlllister is a beast of a DL.  I've seen his high school videos where he's being double teamed and he's throwing guys left and right.  Wait till Odell Haggins works his magic on this kid.

There's the Sentinel's page on NSD - there's also a searchable database link on there.

Also, here's a link to the ongoing blog

Wow.  Denard Robinson looked like a sure lock for the Gators, but they lost him and his buddy to MICHIGAN??  Rich Rodriguez is really making a play for high school kids in these parts.  He was able to sweep up a handful of them at WVU.

Care to elaborate on those guys high school accomplishments and how they'll fit in with your Tigers?

USF had a decent recruiting class.  31st overall.  Lookout for these guys in the future.

Bradley Battles, ATH  5-9   179   4 star recruit
Adaris Bellamy, RB  5-9   214   4 star recruit
Jason Pierre-Paul, DE  6-6  265  4 star recruit
Kyrhi Thornton    DT   6-3   300   4 star recruit
Jacquain Williams   LB   6-4   220   4 star recruit

Well, the smoke has cleared, except for a few stragglers.  UF racked up a top five class.  FSU swept up enough talent to continue their rise to the top.  Of the 21 guys that signed with them, 16 are from Florida.  UM got some serious talent from South Florida.  They dominate that area, regardless of how many schools try to come in there.

Sure it is the lifeline, but it is also a huge crapshoot as many supposed 5 and 4 star recruits cannot handle college. I personally want to see how they develop after a season or two.

You're absolutely right.  A lot of 5 star players are the "Big Fish in the Small Pond" and then can't handle being a "Small Fish in a Big Pond".  It is a crapshoot, but it's also based on filling needs as well.

I will say this, FSU needed to bulk up both it's lines and get a kicker with a good leg and did all that today.

Man, we took a hit today. The snake Lane kiffin stole 2 of our recruits at the end. He's going to get his ass kicked in sept by urban. Seems alot of guys who decomitted from us are afraid of competition. Jelani jenkins didn't need any promises of playing time, he wants to come compete and earn his spot. We only got 16, but 8 of those were in the ESPN 150. LSU and Bama closed great.

Looking forward to 2010.

That's the problem with being a national championship contending program.  Some guys on your radar easily slip away because they know they might not play right away.  When another coach from a lesser program promises playing time, they'll bite.  UM and FSU had the same problems in the 80's and 90's, respectively.

"Billy Bob, if you go to Florida, you'll never start.  They have so much talent that they could win the SEC with their third stringers."

How many times have you heard of other coaches saying that?

Turns out Lane Kiffin is not very familiar with NCAA rules on recruiting.
