Title: Steelers=Dirty
Post by: janetmschulte on February 01, 2009, 10:28:23 pm
It's not new news, but the Steelers are such a dirty team. That play tonight with #92 was ridiculous! I think the whole organization just breeds poor sportsmanship. I think it's a bunch of garbage. That is all.

I have to agree that play by James Harrison was dirty.  That play cost him the MVP award tonight.  He should've been thrown out of the game for that.

Just good football, they threw the flag.   I do not think it cost him the MVP.   Its hard for a defensive player to win the MVP especially when the game comes down to the last drive & Holmes put on a show.

Goodwell and his goons will revist that play in the future by Harrison. he should have been thrown out.....hopefully he will be suspended for at least 1 game check next season.

That said........I think they are a GREAT defense. The defensive side of the ball is what i live for and no team does it better. Don't let 1 bad play like Harrisions discredit all they did this season. The Hit against the Ravens RB by Clark 2 weeks ago was one of the best hits I've ever seen.  THATS The NFL at its best.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the Harrison play simply a shove in the chest?

If correct, then they have never thrown anyone out for a shove before.

I thought he threw a punch and was surprised he did not get tossed.  Maybe the other player was more involved in the tussle than was shown on tv?

I'd say something got said when the player got up is what caused the shove.

Everyone loves to remember how Harrison japped that dude in the back repeatedly on national television in the game yesterday. Why isn't anyone bringing up the Cardinals having THREE personal fouls on ONE Pittsburgh drive?

Because they were called and were not severe enough to warrant being ejected.

Not to mention one was was imagined.  The roughing the passer was weak.

I didn't like the Steelers' cockyness and taunting throughout the game.  That was pretty lame.  Oh well -- at least it was a good game.

Shove? Guy was lying on the ground and he punched him in the back......thats dirty for the WWCF let alone the NFL.  He's better then that. No need for it when your that good.

Hey.........I have no problem with them writing the chack as long as they can ca$h it. Thats attitude bro. Just look what Porters has done for us this season. We need a few more Mean SOB's like that along the line and it goes a long way.

The Giants beat "cocky" Porter (last season) and beat the new SB Champs this season in their house, shutting their mouth. Just FYI.

Was I the only one who saw the "nut-punch"?

Didn't the Giants also lose to the Browns?

The last one on Wilson was bs. He stumbled coming through the line and was off balance when he ran into the holder. He did not barrel into the holder at full speed which would have justified that call.

I think he could have stopped or slowed himself, but thought he could get away with it.

In saying that.  It was not that bad.

He stumbled, no one pushed him.  He should be in control.  If you lose control of your car and crash into somone else, it is still your fault.

In all fairness ... who in the heck has ever seen that called?  I've seen a few games in my day and have never seen that called before.

That was the first time I'd ever heard that call that I can remember. At the Super Bowl party I was at, after that we started saying things like "Personal foul...The Arizona quarterback completed a pass. That's a 10 yard penalty and loss of down."

I have to admit, I think there was whole lot more than what was being show, there were a few times where they mentioned "some scuffling,Pushing and shoving after the play" yet never had the camera show it..Peter King mentioned in his monday morning QB..
b. How can a Cardinal (it was hard to tell whom) throw a haymaker on the first play of the second quarter and not only not get thrown out but not get penalized? That's a punch the umpire, Roy Ellison, absolutely cannot miss.

Could the "Harrison no call" been a make up call?
about 3/4 down the page is where I referenced....

I was at a party where I was one of two people pulling for the Steelers.  The only play anyone complained about was the roughing the passer, which few if any are denying that was a bad call.
