Dream on Bill.  We are tired of medicore teams made up of unproven youngsters, washed up veterean and Albert Pujoles.  Even our loyalty isn't that blind.  Last season was the first season I remember that I did not attend a game, except when I was not living here.  We are fed up.

Pujols is like Bonds in that the team doesn't make an effort to get better as long as they have their attraction. The only reason Pujols doesn't win every MVP award is because he is so good, he makes 42 HR/120 RBI and a 1.099 OPS seem pedestrian. Throw in a Gold Glove too while we're at it.

As long as they have him, they will always be right around the Wild Card, so the owner isn't going to do much to improve the team, like say sign a Manny Ramirez or even an Adam Dunn.

Does anyone else not think a chance to PURCHASE tickets to the MLB all-star game is not very much enticement for paying for season tickets with this economy. I forgot to throw is that it is apparently also a team that has not done much to improve itself this offseason (I don't pay attention to baseball until it is actually a penant race so I don't know for sure).

If I'm not mistaken, Cardinals fans have had World Series Winning pileups ten times, second only to the Yankees.  You could call them spoiled as well  ;D

It means that if you have season tickets you have first shot at All Star Game tickets.  The same applies to playoff tickets.

I get that, but his quote was stated as if he believes that is enough to keep the Cardinals from seeing a decrease in season ticket sales. Maybe it's just me but the all-star game is not much enticement by itself with the way the economy is going. This guy either has blinders or is overly optimistic if you ask me.

That's what I am saying. :)

The rumor that I heard (I think they were talking about it on Dan Patrick radio) Pujols was trying to get the Cards to make an offer to Manny  (one year deal,Manny was supposedly open to the idea ???)...errr something that scares the holy living bejesus out of me as a Cubs fan....

I got a feeling the Springfield Cards are going to have a hard time drawing a crowd here this year.Erasmus James was taken to AAA,and possibly to the big club.... :-\

Sure you would, as long as he is playing like he did with the Dodgers.  Good Manny is easy to love.  Bad Manny is JD Drew x 1,000,000.  Not only does he slack off he does it out of spite.  At least with Drew he's a good guy that is just soft.  Manny is spoiled. 

Cards + Manny + one year deal is something I would consider if I owned the Cards.

If they got Manny,Recession,what recession....People would Pay tyo watch Pujols,and Manny knock it out of the park...or get Lots,and Lots of free passes to first base..... :D

Can you even imagine those two, back to back?  They would make Manny / Ortiz look like Jerry Remy and Dave Stapelton.

Manny is best on a one year deal with an incentive based option for a 2nd. Maine is right, a motivated Manny is unstoppable. The guy is just a freak and one of the best pure hitters EVER. Not just for our generation, but right up there with the Ted Williams and Joe DiMaggio crowd. Just using Adjusted OPS+ as a marker, he is tied with Joe D at 155 for his career, and ahead of guys like Frank Robinson, Honus Wagner and even A-Rod.

But when he is mad at you, he is a child who takes plays and at bats off. Give him a 4 year deal and watch as he destroys your team. Give him a 1 year deal, and watch as he leads your team to the playoffs.....all the while bitching about how he deserves a 5 year deal.

I'd love to see the Yankees give Manny a one year or two year deal. 

I'd prefer they didn't. Manny and the NY media don't mix, not to mention Joe Girardi. Of course, Teixeira/A-Rod/Manny would be ridiculous, but recent history has shown the Yankees don't have championship success when plugging in incompatible all-stars into a lineup.

Pitching staff is a different story.....I hope.
