Title: Goodell takes paycut Post by: SCFinfan on February 25, 2009, 01:23:17 pm http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3933228
Roger Goodell has apparently taken a 20% paycut on his salary of 11 million. I didn't read the specifics of how that money will now be spent, but if its a move by Goodell to conserve jobs, I applaud him... Title: Re: Goodell takes paycut Post by: Phishfan on February 25, 2009, 01:28:17 pm $11M he should have taken a paycut. I don't think his job is worth that much. Then again I am appalled by sports salaries in general given our current economic state.

It'd be nice to go to a game for $30 instead of $100.
Title: Re: Goodell takes paycut Post by: Phishfan on February 25, 2009, 04:21:20 pm ^^^ I'm with you. I compared ticket prices to the housing market in a thread a while back. Eventually the salary and ticket price bubble is going to burst. They can't keep raising prices like they have or no one will be going to games eventually.

Used to be the big Companies were the ones who could afford to buy the Tickets. Now they are not buying big blocks of Tickets to pass off to clients anymore. Team owners are taking a hit in the ass. Heinziga made a Fortune out of buying Low and selling High. He did the same with the Dolphins. Ross won't turn a profit like Old Wayne did. Things will slow down big time. The overhead for Dolphins Stadium will nickel and dime him to death. Look for the Team to possibly go Public.......... |
