Title: T.Owens to the Bills Post by: bsfins on March 07, 2009, 06:46:57 pm According to CBSsportline....Buffalo has signed Team obliterator (and I don't mean Tommy! ;) )
http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/11471029 (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/11471029) According to Profootball weekly it's a 1 year deal worth 6.5 million... http://www.profootballweekly.com/PFW/NFL/AFC/AFC+East/Buffalo/Features/2009/holbrook030709.htm (http://www.profootballweekly.com/PFW/NFL/AFC/AFC+East/Buffalo/Features/2009/holbrook030709.htm) Title: Re: T.Owens to the Bills Post by: Frimp on March 07, 2009, 06:50:42 pm This is gonna be awesome. ;D
Title: Re: T.Owens to the Bills Post by: JoblessJayFiedler on March 07, 2009, 07:30:05 pm I can't imagine the guy in a Bills uniform. Surely he'll be a cancer to the team this season and most likely end up in the free agent market again.
Title: Re: T.Owens to the Bills Post by: doctord56 on March 07, 2009, 09:28:08 pm I think it reflects the Bills desperation, given their total collapse last year. T.O. is still a dangerous receiver, and he'll make some big plays and catch some TD's the Bills otherwise wouldn't get. But he's such a prima donna and drama queen, that in the end his antics will lead to distraction and chaos in the locker room, and the Bills in the end will be the worse for it.
Title: Re: T.Owens to the Bills Post by: YoFuggedaboutit on March 07, 2009, 09:35:37 pm Oh man, I can only imagine the tongue lashing Trent Edwards is gonna get from him. He's nowhere near the caliber of QB's TO has played with.
According to CBSsportline....Buffalo has signed Team obliterator (and I don't mean Tommy! ;) ) I would NEVER sign with the Bills, or Jets or Pats for that matter, if I was an NFL player. Title: Re: T.Owens to the Bills Post by: Denver_Bronco on March 07, 2009, 09:41:17 pm Every team is making moves, but you in that division. I'd be concerned if I were you.
Title: Re: T.Owens to the Bills Post by: dolphins4life on March 08, 2009, 12:47:31 am If T.O. puts up similar numbers to what he's put up in Dallas, SF, and Philly, $6.5 million is a bargain
Title: Re: T.Owens to the Bills Post by: Thundergod on March 08, 2009, 09:41:06 am May the Bills implode within this very year.
Title: Re: T.Owens to the Bills Post by: CF DolFan on March 08, 2009, 11:02:27 am TO will be fine for the first year ... he always is. Since this is a one year contract I really don't think it's al that bad for the Bills.
Title: Re: T.Owens to the Bills Post by: stinkfish on March 08, 2009, 12:54:03 pm T.O. must have been desperate. How are the Phins going to cover this guy?
Title: Re: T.Owens to the Bills Post by: DZA on March 08, 2009, 01:05:48 pm Cant wait to see the Fins, Im so representing the Fins when i go to that Buffalo game now. Their Fans are going to Hate me , Cant wait !!
Gotta make a sign "T.O has B.O. " Title: Re: T.Owens to the Bills Post by: Sunstroke on March 08, 2009, 01:07:30 pm T.O. must have been desperate. How are the Phins going to cover this guy? If Owens' play continues to drop, the answer would be "with a linebacker." ;) Title: Re: T.Owens to the Bills Post by: Dolphin-UK on March 08, 2009, 02:11:57 pm T.O. must have been desperate. How are the Phins going to cover this guy? Erm, just put an army of photographers on the Bills sideline or press asking for a comment after every drive? Title: Re: T.Owens to the Bills Post by: Sunstroke on March 08, 2009, 02:43:58 pm Gotta make a sign "T.O has B.O. " Or if you have a slightly larger sign... "T.O's B.O ALWAYS smelled like Buffalo" Title: Re: T.Owens to the Bills Post by: MaineDolFan on March 09, 2009, 11:30:27 am This signing = trying to get fans in the stands.
Last year was the lowest attendance that Buffalo has ever had. That is all this is. And, in that regard, it's smart and money well spent. Title: Re: T.Owens to the Bills Post by: AZ Fins Fan 55 on March 09, 2009, 01:52:34 pm Yeah not real happy he is a Bill. If he helps destroy the team....great....but he could also be a dangerous player and I hate to see the Bills get anyone that can potentially help them to win games.
Title: Re: T.Owens to the Bills Post by: MaineDolFan on March 09, 2009, 02:07:06 pm Say what you will about TO - but know this:
1 - NO ONE works harder than this guy - on or off the field. 2 - Nothing stops him from taking the field. He plays no matter what. 3 - Dude wants to WIN. He goes over the middle with reckless abandon, makes great catches, doesn't shy away from contact... The thing with TO is his mouth. That's it and all. As a wide receiver? One of the best of our generation. TO and Lee Evans - combined with the running attack Buffalo has? Automatically makes them a MUCH better team. Title: Re: T.Owens to the Bills Post by: Phishfan on March 09, 2009, 03:14:07 pm The guy developed butter for fingers last year. I hope that trend continues.
Title: Re: T.Owens to the Bills Post by: MaineDolFan on March 09, 2009, 03:51:24 pm Didn't he lead the league in drops?
I thought it was great. Dallas lost to...Philly, I think. They had the 'Skins the next week and TO was running his mouth..."can't help if they don't throw to me" yada yada. Romo went out of his way to throw to the guy - I think he had an estimated 103 yards in blown recepetions and two scores due to drops. I'm with Phish - I hope that continues. The thing is that the AFC East doesn't have great defensive / secondary teams. Miami's is probably the best of a bad lot. Springs upgrades New England a little but not by much. The Jets are pretty bad in the backfield. TO saw much better man to man in the NFC East than he'll see in the AFC East. TO saw much better man to man in the NFC East than he'll see in the AFC East. I have to disagree with this, only because if you combined all the personnel from both NYJ and Miami's defensive backfield, the two best players in that group play for the Jets (S Kerry Rhodes and CB Darrelle Revis. Miami still has major needs in our D-backfield, and while resigning Yeremiah and signing Gibril Wilson helps a little, it still leaves us as short at CB big-time. Title: Re: T.Owens to the Bills Post by: fyo on March 09, 2009, 07:13:48 pm The guy developed butter for fingers last year. I hope that trend continues. According to Peter King, he's had about the same number of drops each of the last three seasons (~12). Title: Re: T.Owens to the Bills Post by: dolphins4life on March 25, 2009, 12:05:10 pm What is unnerving to me is that the stuff people were saying about T. O. coming to Buffalo, and being a disruptive influence on the team is the same stuff people were saying about Randy Moss coming to New England when the trade happened in the 2007 draft. We all know how that turned out.
Taking the Bills offense at face value, Terrell Owens and Lee Evans at wideout is a dream duo of receivers. The pressure will fall on whoever is the quarterback to get them the ball. From Miami's standpoint, if they can pressure the Bills passer the way they did in the two games this season, they should be able to handle them. The pressure will fall on whoever is the quarterback to get them the ball. From Miami's standpoint, if they can pressure the Bills passer the way they did in the two games this season, they should be able to handle them. And the Bills think they can duplicate that. I doubt it. Moss was a problem child in Oakland, but not Minn. TO was problem child everywhere. Moss wanted out of Oakland cause Oakland is a team with losing attidude and he wanted to play on a team with a winning attitude, future HOF QB, and head coach that commands respect. When he got what he wanted he behaved. Can't compare that to TO. Dallas is a better team than the Bills. Romo is a better QB than Edwards. And there is nobody on the Bills team strong enough to stand up TO. BB, Brady, Wilfork, Seau, AT among other each could look Moss in the eye and say, "here is it is about the team, shut the F up and do your job." Dick J is not going to be able to contain TO the way BB and co was able to contain Moss. On the Bills TO is the superstar. For the Pats Moss is much like Clayton, Fryar or Duper was for the Dolphins -- solid WR but the star is the QB and the leader of the team. |
