WOOOOOO

on a personal note, it isn't one minute too soon .. i can't stand john madden, i think his commentary is obvious and his insight is shallow and inane.

he's boring and repetitive and i would rather watch ian eagle and solomon wilcots than another john madden broadcast

that is all

Woo frickin HOO!

I'm sure people will call it the end of an era and all that BS.  I'm glad.  Buh bye.

Or maybe he's just waiting to un-retire like his boyfriend.

John Madden is a good color analyst. My favorites are Troy Aikman and Daryl Johnston, but John Madden is definitely good. Solomon Wilcots is a hack (and so is Steve Tasker - jesus chirst those guys are painful)

The reason John Madden is a good COLOR analyst is because he does exactly that - add COLOR to the broadcast. Steve Tasker, Wilcots, and several others try so hard to be "professional" that they come off sounding nervous, demeaning, and like they are talking down to you.

Even Dick Vitale (whom I hate) is better than Solomon Wilcotts.

Thanks for the years of service John!

Sorry guys.  I have to disagree here.  This is a sad day as one of the best in the business decides to call it a career.

He'll probably spend his days travelling in the Madden Bus to football games as a fan.

I am happy to see John retire...it was getting painful listening to him talk on air the last few seasons.

Happy trails to the man who made the Turducken famous... May your bus always run smooth and may there always be an all you can eat buffet just a few miles up the highway.

For all of his flaws, I like Madden.  He's the devil you know, at the very least.

GREAT. I hope everyone is still happy and cheering "Wooooo!!" that madden is retired.

Well, you thought Madden was painful...get ready for this clown.

You see (pointing to incomprehendable scribles on a telepromter) first he went to the left, then he shifted to the right than he spun around looking for a turducken, this froze the defensive line allowing Collingsworth to slip thru the empty hole.

That is why Brett Favre is the greatest QB to have ever played the game.

========

Anyone think that maybe Madden will follow in his idols footsteps and unretire in a couple of months?

Looks like he might end up in the Raiders front office.

I like Madden, just not the favortism he showed in the past as far as giving his love affairs the same amount of criticism as other players.  If some guy like Brett Favre throws into triple coverage he was 'trying to make a play' or 'squeezing the ball in there cause he has shown the ability to do that', some other guy it would be termed as an awful play or one he should have thrown away.

I didnt mind Madden until he started going wild with the pen. Just keep the pen away from here. WHen he started diagraming the Oakland Hills fires during a 49ers game, I wanted to choke him.

This was an obvious case of cause-and-effect.

Brett Favre retired, for real this time.  Without Favre, Madden had no reason to continue broadcasting.  There was just nothing left in it for him.
