Title: Chad Henne holding the ball to long?
Post by: Fred Finstoned on August 24, 2009, 11:25:10 pm
I was at the two games and it seems to me Henne holds the ball about a second or two to long.He throws a nice ball and its got zip but, he just seems to be looking a little to long before he lets it fly! He is kind of slow handing off?

Another Dan Marino?  Marino had a quick release, but he was VERY slow handing off.

I understand the concept but I wouldn't use the phrasing "Another Dan Marino" anytime soon.

Honestly, I tend to look for stuff like this and really didn't see anything abnormal.  Also, this last game he was playing with backups and it really seems to make the timing of things appear off just by the nature of the matchups/players on the field.

have to concur with Doc-Phin.  His timing is probably off.  Will see if he passes the metronome test when I see him in action again.

I'd have to say that after watching him in action for three games, he's made some progress from his rookie season but is clearly not ready to take over as starting QB.

He passed the metronome test easily, I think what you're seeing is that 1. his timing is off, 2. he's rusty (evidenced by him stepping up in the wrong spots) and 3. he hasn't gotten it into is head yet when he needs to throw the ball away.

Man it sure is hard to see Tommy write about Henne without seeing the words "flashes of brilliance".

BUMP

After the Falcons game, I'd have to say that PENNINGTON is the one holding the ball too friggin long.  On his fumble and another sack, if he throws instead of tucking the ball back down, those plays don't happen.
