Title: 3 teams firing O-Coordinators a week before the season?
Post by: bsfins on September 04, 2009, 12:57:14 pm
WTF the week before the season starts 3 teams fire their O Coordinators,a week before the season...Because their offenses didn't play well in the preseason (in my Allen Iverson Voice) Preseason? We're Talking Preseason!...

The Bills Fired their O coordinator Alex Van Pelt (former Bill QB) is the new O-Coordinator....Chan Gailey out in KC. ,Jadinsky (sp?) in T.B. It's not like you can change the playbook...Do you think this Sort of Dooms these teams for the year?

The NFL is a copycat league.

GM and owner of three superbowl rings Scott Pioli fired his OC a week before the season began, so two other teams figured it must a brilliant move and did so as well.

If either of these three team make the playoffs this year there will be at least a dozen firings of assistant coaches during the last week of the preseason next year.

Turk Schonert got the Ax in Buffalo so Ralph Wilson wouldn't have a revolt on his hands.  All the Bills fans here were placated by the signing of TO.  I don't know why.  He hasn't practiced all preseason.  They're not going anywhere even if he plays.  The Bills fans have been reminded why they are still pissed they kept Jauron because their first team offense only scored 3 points in 15 possessions in the preseason.  Someone had to be the fall guy.

The firings in Tampa and Kansas City matter a lot less because those are both brand new coaching staffs and haven't played a meaningful game yet.  In one case the guy got fired because they wanted to give the play calling duties to another candidate and make him the quarterbacks coach, he said no way and walked.
