Title: Live Blog vs. Colts
Post by: dolphins4life on September 21, 2009, 08:09:49 pm
Well this is the first Monday Night game the Dolphins have played in more than one year.  The last time they did that, they played an ugly game against the Steelers that remained scoreless until the final minute, when Jeff Reed hit a chippie field goal to win it for the Steelers.

The Dolphins have changed dramatically since then.  Now they face the always tough Indianapolis Colts.  Peyton Manning will look to have success against the suspect Dolphin secondary.

Hopefully Fasano remembered his stickum tonight.  And we will see how much of the wildcat will be used.  BTW, Ginn was open on that pass White threw to him last week vs. Atlanta.

Here we go!!!!!!!!!

GO DOLPHINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been listening to T-Pain's version of the Miami Dolphins on loop for like 30 minutes now...I'm pumped.

As Joe from Family Guy would say....

LET'S DO IT!  ROCK AND ROLL!

GO DOLPHINS!!!!!

Really?  Happy Birthday.  Then again, nobody remembered my birthday last Monday either

Great way to start the game  LOL

That was pretty pathetic

ouch.

That's a bad start... Clark uncovered. One poor tackle (Gibril Wilson) and he's gone. Colts up by 7.

one whole fucking play and the colts score? Defense, hello???

Two straight wildcat plays give us a first down

Title: Re: Live Blog vs. Colts
Post by: fyo on September 21, 2009, 08:49:21 pm
I think one safe conclusion after this whole NFL weekend is: The Wild Cat is not dead. Not even close.

I've never seen so many teams run Wild Cat type plays - and often.

Wild Cat Touchdown!

Really Nice play by Cobbs on a screen a few plays earlier.

They just forced a punt, Now THEY'VE got the momentum.

Why did the Colts dump Hunter Smith?

Ginn makes a nice grab after running a crisp route

But, wow, that ball is in the air for a long time on sideline throws. Even ones that only go < 10 yards downfield.

nice try fasano

Title: Re: Live Blog vs. Colts
Post by: dolphins4life on September 21, 2009, 09:14:19 pm
Ronnie looking like a beast.

Pennington overshoots Fasano.  He had a TD there if he threw it lower.

Wonder what Tepop thinks of Ronnie's performance so far

Title: Re: Live Blog vs. Colts
Post by: dolphins4life on September 21, 2009, 09:15:28 pm
Ginn blew that one

Carpenter gives them the lead with an FG.  Nice job kicking on the dirt

Title: Re: Live Blog vs. Colts
Post by: fyo on September 21, 2009, 09:15:52 pm
Pennington NEEDLESSLY overthrows first Fasano and then Ginn, for would've been touchdowns.

Instead we settle for 3.

Damnit, that's not what you're here to do, Penny.

Title: Re: Live Blog vs. Colts
Post by: StL FinFan on September 21, 2009, 09:16:05 pm
Then overthrows Ginn.  Ah well at least we got 3.

Title: Re: Live Blog vs. Colts
Post by: raptorsfan29 on September 21, 2009, 09:16:56 pm
yeah, penny overthrows fasano, but it's ginn fault he didn't catch that, personal bias alert.

If pennys throws were a little shorter both would have been caught for a TD.

Title: Re: Live Blog vs. Colts
Post by: fyo on September 21, 2009, 09:17:30 pm
Ginn blew that one

WTF? You need to move closer to your TV, dude. He was going full-speed out of the endzone. No way can he NOT slow down a bit. And the ball was OUT of the endzone. He had his man beat by several yards, but Penny just overthrew it.

Fasano's was closer to a drop, yet you call that an overthrow. Ridiculous.

Not hard to overthrow Fasano. He's not exactly a fast mover...

The Ginn overthrow was from inside the 30. Even Pennington can throw the ball 40 yards ;)

Nice tackle by Bell.

Title: Re: Live Blog vs. Colts
Post by: fyo on September 21, 2009, 09:33:15 pm
Nice tackle by Bell.

Who was covering the drag route behind Bell and Clark? (Probably Reggie Wayne running it). He got beat and had to grab a good handful of jersey. Lucky on the no-call there.

Title: Re: Live Blog vs. Colts
Post by: Orlando Rays on September 21, 2009, 09:33:29 pm
The Colts thus far have had little luck hammering toward the end zone. It's big play or bust.

Title: Re: Live Blog vs. Colts
Post by: fyo on September 21, 2009, 09:38:55 pm
Bad throw by Pennington to a double-covered Ginn. I get really scared every time Pennington lobs the ball up there.

I thought Ginn could have dove for it.  I've seen him make some incredible catches, more impressive ones than that one would have been if he caught it.

Fasano was open for an in-instride pass, yet Penny sailed it.

I thought Ginn could have dove for it.  I've seen him make some incredible catches, more impressive ones than that one would have been if he caught it.

Then he would've been 5 yards out of the endzone... He had to break down as he got to the back of the end zone...

OH Nate Jones just missed an INT!

SO VERY CLOSE TO A PICK!!!

A nice three-and-out there, followed by a terrible punt.  >:D

Gotta take the points in a close game.

Title: Re: Live Blog vs. Colts
Post by: fyo on September 21, 2009, 09:57:52 pm
I like how they're managing to keep the Colts' offense off the field. Really long drives, eating time, wearing down the defense and keeping our own D fresh - critical against Peyton's no-huddle.

Title: Re: Live Blog vs. Colts

Crowder gone in coverage. Looking really bad at times tonight.

Gotta take the points in a close game.

it's not like it was 4th and 10, it was one yard, polite made that play earlier in the game in a one yard situation.

Title: Re: Live Blog vs. Colts
Post by: fyo on September 21, 2009, 10:01:07 pm
Nope. That ball came out. They'll reverse it.

He just didn't get the ball tucked in; was still holding it with the tips of his fingers, making it an easy target. Even the ground alone would probably have knocked it out.

Title: Re: Live Blog vs. Colts
Post by: StL FinFan on September 21, 2009, 10:01:17 pm
I needed that catch by Wayne for my fantasy team but real team needs trump fantasy team needs.

Not a pick, it squeezed out. But still a very lovely defensive play.

Adam with a lucky kick to tie it at the half.

Damn. I wanted them to go for it on 4th and 1 for the very reason .......NOT to let Peyton have the Ball.   >:(

Still........considering the way the first 12 seconds went of the game, I'm not complaining.  ;)

If we fail, it will probably be 13-10 Colts, it could be 17-10 Colts.

If we succeed, it could still be 10-10.

It's the risk you take.

Title: Re: Live Blog vs. Colts
Post by: fyo on September 21, 2009, 10:15:04 pm
Not a good defensive showing there at the end - allowing a 3rd and 15 conversion, turned 3rd and 10 by an encroachment penalty on McDaniel. Can't jump the gun on a 3rd and long, that's just stupid. And can't allow a corner / out route to get the ball and go out of bounds. Any tackle in bounds would have had a good chance of ending the half.

What a sweet play by Manning, just going down as Porter was about to hit him. Untouched (really bad blocking mistake). I have no idea how he knew Porter was about to blind-side him. Gotta respect that "instinct" or whatever you want to call it.

Ronnie Brown isn't having a very good time out there right now. A really good start - first 8 carries or so. The last 8... not so hot.

And as I'm writing this, Brown gets a 14-yard wild cat run.

RW has really looked powerful out there, getting a few extra yards on every single carry.

Talk about someone looking good: Cobbs.

No, that would imply Peyton freezing, doing nothing. What happened was Porter had a straight run at him from the blind side. Peyton never looking, but RIGHT when Porter was about to pummel him, he pulled in the ball and dropped. Result: sack. Yeah, but no risk of the ball popping out and no risk of quarterback injury. Clever play.

I would have liked to have seen the Phins run some no huddle in the 3rd quarter. The Colts D is tired as it is, and some no huddle would have had their D looking for some oxygen.

I'm not a Ginn-basher (I quite like him), but he did almost single-handedly cost us this drive by missing an easy catch on 2nd and 10. If the Colts hadn't jumped off-sides, that would've been a 3 and out (probably).

One thing I've noticed tonight is that he's a little slow in pulling the ball in to his body. He almost dropped a sideline pass earlier. He got a first down on it, but he might've had a chance to turn it up field had he caught the ball cleanly and pulled it in.

I think Henning gets just a little too conservative when he's in field goal range.

This is pissing me off. The Dolphins D has dominated today, without blitzing. Now they big-blitz and get beat badly.

HORRIBLE clock management there. 40 seconds wasted and still you had to call a time out?!

Added: And Pennington failed to get it off before the 2-minute warning, effectively wasting another timeout.

Ginn had 11 catches, but dropped the chance to win the game, and dropped another TD pass earlier. Can you say a guy with 11 catches is shame of the game? Maybe so.

A sad and awful loss, pass defense looked like hell. Awful clock management at the end, shame on Penny.

Ah, Shitfuck.

this defense is full of pussys.  manning had 300 yards throwing only 23 times.  they are just fucking awful.  crowder is useless, porter is useless. taylor appears to be invisible.  what the fuck are they good for.

OK, I'm going to go ahead and call for Henne now.

Here's why: They're not asking Pennington to do anything anyway, so you might as well have Henne under center. Pennington has cost a shit-load of plays today. Maybe Ginn should've held on to the ball in the endzone, but he had his man beat by multiple yards (again) and had to stop COMPLETELY to get the ball, effectively making it a jump ball and the defender got his hand in there (and maybe pushed a bit before the ball got there, but nothing that'll get called).

Almost every single throw by Pennington - certainly EVERYTHING outside the numbers or more than 10 yards down-field - has been a horribly slow lob. He looked better last week, but if this is what he can do, he needs to sit down and let Henne do the job.

NFL players make the passes that Ginn dropped tonight. Hard to hammer him too much considering he did have a good game, but the difference between wins and losses are usually just the length of a fingertip in the NFL and we saw that firsthand.

Title: Re: Live Blog vs. Colts
Post by: fyo on September 21, 2009, 11:40:42 pm
Ginn had two passes that could've - and probably should've - been caught. The first one was just bad by Ginn, the second one... the one in the endzone... Pennington's slo-mo pass made that a really tough catch instead of an easy one. Sure, I wish he made the tough catch, but I can't help but place the majority of the blame on Pennington.

Does Henne play defense.  If not, it doesn't matter.

EVERYONE SHUT UP ABOUT GINN!!!! IF EVERYONE ELSE ON THE TEAM PLAYED HALF AS WELL AS HE DID, THE DOLPHINS WIN!!!!  THE GUY WAS MAKING CATCHES AND EXTENDING DRIVES ALL OVER THE FIELD.

11 catches, 108 yards.

He did his part for the team

its what we thought with this defense. they effectively have 2 strong safeties playing in the secondary. neither of which can cover very well.

Get rid of Crowder, Porter, Ginn, and Bess. Save a lot of money and send us fans to therapy over the STUPIDITY of the players and coaches.
What the hell, 3rd and 7 Wildcat in the 4th quarter when you just converted 3 third downs with pass plays??? What the hell were they thinking??? Without Chad under center it is a free-for-all for the defensive line and dbacks. (Before someone jumps my stuff, I know that RB has thrown from the Wildcat, but in the 4th quarter on a game winning drive??? Not likely) >:(

Porter had a sack and almost every play in the first half , manning ended up on his ass. Problem is that Manning can throw falling down as well.  :P

Bess!!?  For what he gets paid he contributes WELL over his expections. He is out best reciver IMO. Rarely drops it , always coming through and a a decent special Teams flyer to boot.

Bess: 3 catches 29 yards

Ginn: 11 catches 108 yards,

yet Bess is our best receiver  ???

WTF!!!!   Seriously...WHAT THE FUCK!!!!  Ginn had a good game..until it mattered!!  Any WR on our team makes that catch in the endzone...BOTH OF THEM HE MISSED!  Fasano, you suck buddy.  Defense?  I'm not even going there.  The corners played really good, but the safeties and middle LBs played like shit.  We had that game and pissed it away.  Every major stat we owned and we still lose?  I'm so fucking pissed right now.

Bess plays Special teams. Bess never drops a pass, AND Bess makes barely League Mininum. Need I remind you how much Ginn eats up our salary Cap year after year. Dropping passes at his level is just unacceptable.

Got to go with you on this.  300 yds on 23 attempts?!?!  that's pathetic from the DEF.  I know the DBs are young and we have some new players back there, but come on!  That FG at the end of the 1st half came back and bit us in the ass

check out this loser.  he even looks like a dork when he wins

Thats an excellent point. Bess will do it week in and week out. Ginn will show up and go back into his shell for another six games or so.

Right? WTF do you want from bess? the guy didn't co$t a draft pick(he was a walk on) , he has a measly contract and he Plays his heart out.  ???

Porter can still bring it. Payton was on his ass alot , problem is he can throw it from his knees no problem.

Ginn needs to take a pay cut if he doesn't step it up next year.

We are stuck with Crowder. Hopefully he will put down the joy stick and start watching some game film.
