Well, here we are at 0-2, the same place our beloved Dolphins were last season.  The Fish face a tough test today against SD's potent offense, especially with their suspect secondary.  This is a critical game for the fins, as starting 0-3 all but eliminates a team from playoff contention.

Keys to this game will be:

Pressuring the QB
Fundamentals:  execute tackles, no garbage yardage
Finishing plays: when the chance comes for a TO, they gotta seize it

on offense:
Wildcat!  I expect to see a lot of it today and I predict Pat White will throw at least one pass today
R and R:  two great RBs

GO DOLPHINS!!!  I see this game looking a lot like the Colts game, only with us the winners this time, and not such shabby tackling.  Chargers have a lot of injuries coming into this game.

I understand conservative play calling, but this is just stupid play calling.  Why the running on 3rd and 5?  It's not like you're getting an easier field goal out of it.

I'm thinking Ginn was at fault there. He got tangled up with a defender at got pushed inside. He had to correct back "out" to get to the ball. I'd like to see it from the all-22 cam (or similar wide shot), but I don't think Ginn was where he should've been.

That was a REALLY bad audible by Henne. The MLB had read the slant all the way and I think we were LUCKY that ball was batted down at the line of scrimmage. Not only was Bess covered really tightly, the MLB was gunning for the INT.

I like how we started Henne off...short passes, screens, slants.  Builds his confidence up.  I'm guessing we'll see a long play action pass by the end of this.

really loved the 2 yard pass to bess that bess drops, even more appealing when it was 3rd and very long.

I couldn't give a shit about that play. It was 3rsd and 19. Our chances of converting were prety much ZIP. I was happy with any play that didn't result in a turnover.

I like Ginn, I really do. But BOTH those throws were good. Maybe not easy, but they were hard in a good way. That is, they were hard because they were placed where only the receiver could get to the ball. Ginn got both hands on both balls and failed to pull them in. That's just not acceptable.

That was one heck of a bad progression read by Henne.

Wow, I can't believe some of you.  You're asking Henne, an inexperienced QB to pretty much win the game for you.  How the hell can you say he sucks?  If we lose (which it's looking that way), how can you say season over?  It's not over until we are mathematically out of it.  This is our future playing and there will be some pains.  Have some faith dammit!

My problem, Tenshot, is that this offensive coordinator of ours is so anal retentive regarding the run, that he doesn't play to Henne's strength.  I only saw ONE SHOT taken down the field once Henne came in.  This old geezer needs to be sent packing, and yesterday couldn't be soon enough!!!!!

Well, I agree with you there almost all the way there.  I don't know about getting rid of him, but we do need more risks down field.

he is, you're the one who doesn't know what they're talking about.  he is an innovator (brought the wildcat here), and has a great balance of play calling.  it's not his fault we don't have the personel necessary to be a good football team.

Quarterbacks coach David Lee deserves the majority of credit there.

And Henning's play-calling deep in opponent territory has been... lacking.

I am saying Henne sucks to everyone who wanted him in as the starter going back to last season.  He is clearly not ready.

It is his fault that he's not playing to his QB's strengths.  Henne's got a rifle arm.  Use it.

a riffle arm is no good if you are not accurate. understandably, henne looked very uncomfortable out there. hopefully he can get get comfortable pretty soon if pennington is out for any extended period of time.

This is where we could use 619's news media reporting skills.  If Pennington's gonna be out for a while, he'll know it well before it becomes breaking news.

why oh why does this team try harder to lose than they do to win.  penny throws one bomb on the first drive of the game and because he overthrew his receiver,  they never go to it again.  either qb only seems competant at throwing to checkdown guys.  no quick slants,  no screen plays.  how can it be so hard to make a 15 yrd or more completion once in a game?????    i hope penny is back next week.   to all you Henne lovers,  a second yr qb should be better than this.   where are the receivers????  and what is wrong with this defense,  the pass defense looks lost out there. 

I don't blame Henne at all.  They kept the training wheels on him too long and he ended up making a bad pass for a pick six.  The guy never had a chance.  If Penny is out next week, I won't make an assessment on Henne until he plays a whole game.

HEY Sparano... Marvin Harrison was cut by the colts.... maybe he could teach Ginn how to play the position. (Before anyone tried to smack me with Ginn's 11 catches last week... don't.) He had a good game last week, but still does not know how to "play the position".  ??? Henne has a great arm, but he needs receivers that can catch the ball. I will be interested to see if he plays next week what his timing will be like after a week of practicing with the first team offense.

A whole game?  You can't be serious.  I didn't want him when we drafted him but I say give him plenty of time. He hasn't played in almost two years and has less than 2 quarters at NFL speed.  If you people are looking for lightning in a bottle you may never have another good young QB ever.
