Title: What was with the QB situation last game?
Post by: raptorsfan29 on September 29, 2009, 05:53:17 pm
In the game after Penny was injured and henne replaced him, apparently that meant white couldn't come in the game from then on?

Can someone explain the whole situation? Personally i didn't get how white couldn't have come in after henne replaced penny.

Henne was listed as the third string "emergency" QB. When that person plays, non of the other QBs can come back in the game. The key to the whole thing is the "emergency listing" You can either choose three active QBs or you can have two active QBs with a third emergency QB. If you use the "emergency QB" option it doesn't take a spot from the game day roster. If you list them all as active they all count against the gameday roster.

Correct.  Henne had been inactivated because they wanted to give Cameron Wake some play time.

Go figure that this situation happened so early.  It was a concern of the offseason that came to fruition.  If our wildcat wasn't so good, I would have been legitimately concerned about Henne taking hits.  I had relief knowing that if Henne had gone down, we could have run the Wildcat the rest of the day (crazy as that sounds).

Funny thing is, that's exactly what Dan Fouts said...... "The Dolphins don't have to worry about Henne getting hurt.  They can put Ronnie Brown in there and operate the Wildcat for the rest of the game"

Not completely true.  I think Pat White could have come in if (a) Henne got hurt, or (b) it was the 4th quarter.  (I'm not 100% certain about the 4th quarter part).
