Title: The Moscow Theater Siege: 7 years on Post by: dolphins4life on October 22, 2009, 12:06:23 pm This week is the seventh anniversary of the moscow theater siege. I only learned about it last year while watching Situation Critical. It was hostage standoff that lasted about 3 days. It was between the Russians and the Chechyns.

Thankfully we picked "Cinemagic" in the square instead of The Moscow Theater. It was a toss up right up until the end.

I think "botched" is arguable. They gassed the place and the effect was pretty much exactly what the experts said it would be. The thing is, all the bombs by the terrorists were dummies, so they didn't have to use the gas. Yes, the rescue was botched. Unconscious victims were dumped on their backs, there weren't enough doctors, or antidotes. 129 people died. For those of you who do not know, they are supposed to be the elite level Spetsnaz and the equivilent to Delta/Seal team 6.
