Yeah, and it's REALLY unlikely that you'll flip heads 10 times in a row, but once you've done the first 9, you're still 50/50 for the last one.

I don't just mean statistically. 

I think that by the time you play a third time, it's likely that your opponent will adjust to beat you.  Meanwhile, you don't really adjust to beat a team that you've beaten twice.

The problem is the Eagles don't have long drives, they win on long plays. (And thats been all season long.) And the Cowboys have shut down Desean Jackson in both games, and he's the main "big play threat" on the Eagles.

That's quite an unsubstantiated claim. I don't know that there have been enough cases where teams have met a third time to be able to say either way. If your theory holds water, the probability of team A beating team B a second time should be greater than beating them a third.

Personally, I think it's more likely to be the other way around, in that some teams/coaches just seem to have another's "number" (whether do to match-ups or whatever).

There's also going to be a home field effect pushing it in "my" direction, since if team A beats team B twice in a season, they are probably going to be hosting that third meeting.

It's unlikely that teams will meet 3 times in a season to begin with because they have to be from the same division, where one team was swept.  It's probably unlikely that a team makes the playoffs, after getting swept by a division rival that also makes the playoffs.

The stat on the third game:

19 times in NFL history has a team met the third time in the playoffs after losing the first two.

12 of those games, the winning team won the third game as well.

I'm with fyo on this one...when I see Team A consistently beat Team B, and the wins aren't categorized as "fluke" type wins, then I think it usually means that individual player matchups (and sometimes even coaching matchups) between the two squads are skewed heavily in Team A's favor. Sure, Team B's coaches may find a way to adjust certain sets, play calls (and play call sequences), etc... to minimize those individual player matchup advantages, but those advantages are still there at the base when those two teams face each other.

If Warner goes out for any reason the Cards are sunk. Lineart is the worst excuse for a would be NFL QB I have ever seen. In games where the Cards were winning big they would pull Warner and Matt would come in throw his turnovers and they would have to bring Warner back into the game. His play last week was as horrendous as it has been all season. I think the Lineart experience will come to an abrupt end this off season. Matt Sucks!!!!!

Bengals 27  Jets 17-  Mark "Dirty" Sanchez may be a great NFL QB one day, but not this day.  The Bengals defense will key on Thomas Jones and force Sanches to throw and the results will not be pretty.  The Bengals rested their starters last week, and got spanked.  I'm sure the Jets running up the score like they did will be fresh in the Bengals minds. 

Eagles 28  Cowboys 24-  I know I'm going against the tide here, especially with the Cowboys having better matchups.  It's a well known fact that the Cowboys have a reputation for choking in the playoffs, and this game will be no exception.  If the Cowboys lose, Wade Phillips should be let go. 

Ravens 21  Pats 17-  With Wes Welker gone, the Ravens defensive backs can double team Randy Moss while the front seven pins their ears back and goes after Tom Brady.  Ray Rice and Willis McGahee will pound New England's defense. 

Green Bay 41  Arizona 38-  In this classic barn burner, Green Bay comes out on top.  Their defense is a little bit better, plus Arizona is minus Anquan Boldin. 

Cinci -- Santa gave the Jet two gifts, but he is done.

NE - Edelman gets the game ball.

Eagles - Romo goes to Mexico without Jessica this year.

AZ - Not sure why. 

Jets-Bengals - The Bengals Offense Stinks up the joint,The Same Bengal team that Beat the Lions 23-13,Squeaked by Cleveland 23-20,and 16-7 and Lost to the Raiders..Only scored 23 points against the LIONS..The team that made Brady Quinn look like a real boy!

Eagles -Cowboys - I'm not sure what Romo shows up,It will be a close game...within 7 points

Ravens  - Patriots -I really don't know,I feel Like Billy boy will have a few things up his sleeve for the Ravens...

Packers - Cardinals - I like Green Bay's Defense better,Cardinals Defense one Game looks great,then the next week not so much....If Rodgers can stay off the turf,less then 6 times..I think GB will win this one....

 i think we can all take a mulligan on the packers-cardinals game, since most of us were on the fence about this one anyway..... the rest of the games were picked with a little more conviction.  i went 2-1 not counting the above stated game, of course. i will take my lumps for the jet game, which i still think was a fluke. yes, i have no faith in the jets. never had. never will. the real jets will show up , trust me. and all the bullshit hype behind a 9-7 team , with alot of luck (backing into the playoffs) ., and a little momentum , will subside.  go home , jets. please.

Speak for yourself - I called a wild shootout in favor of the Cardinals! I said 39-38 Cards - both teams exceeded shoot-out expectations going 51-45!

The surprise game has to the Patriots, guys. Could the Ravens have beaten them? Of course. But they got absolutely killed in the 1st quarter. NO one saw that coming in that fashion.

well, that's why i said "most of us" , and not "all of us" , because the majority ,(not all) were on the fence about this game.  ;) u made a good call though.



not to me. i knew the ravens would come out  swinging with brady gimping, and welker out. and they did not disappoint. the ravens smelled blood and went for the jugular just like i said.
