Title: National championship stinker Post by: Denver_Bronco on January 07, 2010, 10:45:25 pm What an atrocious game. McCoy gets hurt on the first drive, and Texas, which would most likely have been up 14-0, only winds up with 6pts. on their first 2 drives. I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that had McCoy not been hurt that Texas would have won this game.
Alabama sucks and is clearly over-rated. Congrats Boise State, national champions. Title: Re: National championship stinker Post by: Denver_Bronco on January 07, 2010, 10:47:15 pm By the way McCoy, you are a pussy. I remember Byron Leftwich playing on a friggen' broken leg in a game not even half as important games as this one.

I quit watching. Saban is playing so conservative because he can. It would have been a different game with McCoy but Bama would still have won. There is no way Bama plays like they played the first half if they were worried about Texas getting some points. If McCoy was in the game Texas at worst is up 10-0, but I am thinking 14-0 in all likely-hood. Alabama would have been forced to abandon the run somewhat and start moving the ball down-field. Texas was pummeling Alabama's line every time they dropped back to pass early. This game would have been different. Title: Re: National championship stinker Post by: Sunstroke on January 07, 2010, 10:53:12 pm I think if Colt hadn't gone down at the start, this definitely would have been a better game than the blowout that it's turning out to be. Don't get me wrong...I have Alabama at 32 confidence points in the finale, so these are breaks I can appreciate, but I can't help thinking what a better championship game 'Bama-Boise State would have been. Joint champions, Boise State and Alabama...and the BCS can kiss my stinkdot. Title: Re: National championship stinker Post by: CF DolFan on January 07, 2010, 10:55:10 pm If McCoy was in the game Texas at worst is up 10-0, but I am thinking 14-0 in all likely-hood. It usually takes a quarter or so for teams to settle down and start playing. How many times have teams scored on there first possession only to tank it from there? Title: Re: National championship stinker Post by: raptorsfan29 on January 07, 2010, 11:26:23 pm I am still watching, Texas only down by 11 and has the ball with 11 minutes left.
Title: Re: National championship stinker Post by: raptorsfan29 on January 07, 2010, 11:37:02 pm 24-21 Alabama with 6 minutes left,
Title: Re: National championship stinker Post by: Denver_Bronco on January 07, 2010, 11:39:23 pm LMFAO! This only proves even more how over-rated Alabama is.
Title: Re: National championship stinker Post by: bsmooth on January 07, 2010, 11:40:01 pm Shipley is killing Bama, makes you wonder just how good McCoy is without a stud receiver? Shipley is making the backup qb look good.
Title: Re: National championship stinker Post by: Denver_Bronco on January 07, 2010, 11:43:51 pm Getting the ball back! Come on, miracle!
Title: Re: National championship stinker Post by: Denver_Bronco on January 07, 2010, 11:46:20 pm This idiot I work with called me and left a voice message that he put $2,200 on Bama -4 pts. I would kill right now to be watching him shitting his pants. I'll be perfectly happy if Texas loses by 3. :D How hilarious to lose that bet with Colt McCoy not even on the field....
Title: Re: National championship stinker Post by: Denver_Bronco on January 07, 2010, 11:49:30 pm Well, that takes care of that.
Drive home safely....... ::) Title: Re: National championship stinker Post by: bsmooth on January 08, 2010, 12:03:20 am Who's MVP Shipley or Ingram?
Title: Re: National championship stinker Post by: Denver_Bronco on January 08, 2010, 12:06:54 am Who's MVP Shipley or Ingram? Colt McCoy is Alabama's MVP...LOLI guess I would go with Ingram. Winning team. Title: Re: National championship stinker Post by: bsmooth on January 08, 2010, 12:12:08 am Colt McCoy is Alabama's MVP...LOL I guess I would go with Ingram. Winning team. I am thinking maybe Arenas with his two picks Title: Re: National championship stinker Post by: YoFuggedaboutit on January 08, 2010, 01:20:24 am I swear, in that first half, Garrett Gilbert looked he was gonna shit his pants, that's how scared he was.
He grew up some in the second half and almost pulled it out. He got a fine education tonight in football on the big stage. Having Shipley helped a lot Title: Re: National championship stinker Post by: CF DolFan on January 08, 2010, 09:08:11 am I still say Alabama played down to Texas. Mentally they knew they had this as soon as Colt went down. While it would have been funny if Alabama lost to them with a back-up ... that wouldn't happen in 99 of 100 games.

I don't think that was there original game plan. Title: Re: National championship stinker Post by: AZ Fins Fan 55 on January 08, 2010, 11:53:48 am It pains me to see Nick $atan succeed. I wish Colt would have stayed healthy!!!!!
Title: Re: National championship stinker Post by: Dave Gray on January 08, 2010, 01:31:15 pm You can't say what would've happen if Colt played. It would've been a different game. Alabama played only as aggressive as they had to.
Title: Re: National championship stinker Post by: YoFuggedaboutit on January 08, 2010, 02:18:08 pm I am thinking maybe Arenas with his two picks I'd love to see the Dolphins get him. He's a local product. Title: Re: National championship stinker Post by: gocowboys31 on January 08, 2010, 03:58:58 pm I feel bad for McCoy, but I feel great for the SEC. That's four in a row!!
Title: Re: National championship stinker Post by: bsmooth on January 08, 2010, 04:52:17 pm I feel bad for McCoy, but I feel great for the SEC. That's four in a row!! Too bad the powers that be kept them away from TCU or BSU. Title: Re: National championship stinker Post by: Dave Gray on January 08, 2010, 05:39:41 pm Too bad the powers that be kept them away from TCU or BSU. While I do think that TCU or BSU deserves a shot to play in a playoff system, I think that they'd likely get not only beaten, but severely destroyed by Alabama, Florida, Texas, etc. Title: Re: National championship stinker Post by: bsmooth on January 08, 2010, 10:52:12 pm While I do think that TCU or BSU deserves a shot to play in a playoff system, I think that they'd likely get not only beaten, but severely destroyed by Alabama, Florida, Texas, etc. TCU beat six ranked teams that won their bowls. BSU has a history of spanking highly touted BCS schools in bowls. Cincy did not belong in their bowl, but it is foolish to think that either of these two non BCS schools could not keep up and even beat the "big boys". Did you read the assinine comments by the BCS as to why playoffs are bad. It will lead to more injuries. When you have 40 bowls, you have 80 teams playing in them. I'm sure TCU is a decent team, but they just can't hang with an elite conference like the SEC. ...but again, that's why you need a playoff. Last year Bama played a dam good game against Florida in the SEC championship and then got spanked by a non BCS school in its bowl game. The SEC has good teams, but when they and the rest of the BCS schools dodge regular season games against very good non BCS teams and play such powerhouses as Troy, Louisanna Tech, etc, and then are saved from having to face these undefeated teams in bowls by the BCS selection committee, then they do not have a legitimate claim that they are the best conference in the country. Title: Re: National championship stinker Post by: BigDaddyFin on January 09, 2010, 04:16:08 am I have some severely mixed feelings about Alabama winning the BCS.
First off, on the negative side, I despise Nick Saban. The guy is such a dipshit not just for what he did to the Dolphins but in the way he handles himself. Second off, Alabama has a rich tradition in the history of College Football because of Paul Bryant. Bryant, along with Bud Wilkinson and Knute Rockne are the gold standard by which all college coaches are measured, and I hate to see Nick Saban's name even associated with Bear Bryant. Third, I have nothing against Alabama's players or fans. I'm not going to wish ill will on a whole bunch of people like that just because of Nick Saban, and those kids won the game. and in a related note on the BCS, it exists for one reason, the almighty dollar. Major Colleges get paid massive amounts of cash by going to a bowl game, even if it's divided up among the teams in their conference. They also get a shitload from the TV contracts. Academia cares about one thing and one thing only, money. That's why there are 40+ bowls. It has nothing to do with injuries or exams. The fact that there are so many bowl games devalues the bowls themselves. The fact that under a playoff system, fewer games would be played, therefore, fewer injuries would be suffered by players, and fewer teams would have to worry about taking exams during bowl season. It's fine that the colleges and the NCAA want to make money, but to sit there and banter about this like they give a shit about the players or their grades damages what little credibility they have and makes their very presence in society laughable. |
