Title: A Colts loss should = Jim Caldwell being fired
Post by: jtex316 on January 11, 2010, 03:31:47 pm
The first real decision by rookie Colts HC Jim Caldwell has been disastrous. Pull your starters in the 3rd quarter and blow a 16-0 season. This is really the only thing he's done so far, because everyone knows that this is still Tony Dungy's team that Caldwell has been riding (The "George Siefert" effect).

So, he decides to rest starters so that they will be 100% for this post-season run, which starts on Saturday. If the Colts come out flat, out of sync, and wind up losing the game, Caldwell - despite going 14-2 and starting 14-0 - should be fired instantly. This is a monumental call - and for every action, there's an equal and opposite reaction. Cancelling a 16-0 possible season for a opening round playoff loss should spell the end for Caldwell, and, maybe bring Bill Cowher out of retirement (how can he say no to THIS job if it's available?)

His players have played well for him, regardless of whether they win or not.  I don't think you upset that chemistry, no matter who you have waiting in the wings.

Cowher wouldn't take the job, regardless how much money they threw at him. Cowher is a control freak. Indy has a guy who is arguably the best GM in the game. The two could not co-exist.
