Title: AFC / NFC Championship Thread! Post by: jtex316 on January 18, 2010, 02:11:39 pm Ok so I went 1-3 this weekend (Thanks Colts for my lone W). This brings me to a very mediocre 4-4 playoff record.
I can salvage it here to make it a respectable 6-4 for playoff predictions. How about you? Jets @ Colts: The Jets run of mediocre QB play and riding their defense is over. Go ahead, Darrelle Revis, cover Reggie Wayne. There's still Dallas Clark (100 catches) and Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie to deal with. Don't forget about TOM SANTI!!!! Also, the Colts just beat a team that's exactly like the Jets at home against Baltimore. Both teams feature strong running games, tough defenses, and a QB who can't throw for more than 100 yards. In fact the Colts demolished them. The Colts D is back and stopping the run. The Jets D may hold the Colts under 20, but the Colts D may shut-out the Jets in this Super Bowl III rematch! Colts - 16 Jets - 7 Vikings @ Saints: If there is a God, and if he / she / it is listening, it will cause the Vikings to lose against the "all-of-a-sudden red-hot after losing 3 straight" Saints, because for the LOVE OF JESUS FUCKING CHRIST do not let Brett Favre to advance to the Super Bowl for 2 straight weeks of media blow-jobbing. The Saints will return the favor from a decade ago when they lost to the Vikings by the same score as my prediction: Saints - 34 Vikings - 16 Title: Re: AFC / NFC Championship Thread! Post by: Guru-In-Vegas on January 18, 2010, 03:38:41 pm I went 2-2 this weekend and 1-3 in the wild card round.
3-5 thanks to the goddamn Jets pulling wins out of their asses. I'm with you on the Saints vs. Vikes prediction. For ALL of your reasons. Same with Colts Vs. Jets. The Jets have gotten super lucky with opposing teams missing their field goals. The Colts are experienced, poised and disciplined. Rex Ryan's luck runs out here. Title: Re: AFC / NFC Championship Thread! Post by: bsmooth on January 18, 2010, 05:30:27 pm Good lord I cannot imagine the insane amount of Favre man love there will be if the Vikes win.
Title: Re: AFC / NFC Championship Thread! Post by: StL FinFan on January 18, 2010, 06:05:14 pm 6-2 overall I missed GB/Cardinals last week and Jets/SD this week.
Colts and Saints this weekend. Title: Re: AFC / NFC Championship Thread! Post by: Thundergod on January 18, 2010, 06:10:46 pm Super Bowl XLIV
Vikings vs. Colts Title: Re: AFC / NFC Championship Thread! Post by: Tenshot13 on January 18, 2010, 06:15:36 pm Super Bowl XLIV
Saints vs. Colts Title: Re: AFC / NFC Championship Thread! Post by: fyo on January 18, 2010, 06:42:34 pm I'm hoping for the Colts and Vikes, although the Saints would be OK as well. As for the Jets, I hope they crawl away and die.
Title: Re: AFC / NFC Championship Thread! Post by: AZ Fins Fan 55 on January 19, 2010, 01:04:09 pm Saints & Colts in the big game!!!!!
Title: Re: AFC / NFC Championship Thread! Post by: Frimp on January 19, 2010, 01:12:23 pm Saints/Colts.
Lord help us all if its Jets/Vikings Title: Re: AFC / NFC Championship Thread! Post by: Brian Fein on January 19, 2010, 02:00:17 pm I am 1-7 in predictions.
That said: Saints vs Colts for all the marbles. Title: Re: AFC / NFC Championship Thread! Post by: Sunstroke on January 19, 2010, 02:14:32 pm Saints-Colts in the Super Bowl...and another ring on Peyton Manning's fingers. Title: Re: AFC / NFC Championship Thread! Post by: TonyB0D on January 19, 2010, 02:53:53 pm hellloooo, the NFL is scripted.
jets - 27 indy - 10 sanchez lights it up, peyton is knocked out in the first quarter. saints - 35 vikes - 37 saints start big, vikes come back. jared allen is a beast. farve wins it on the last play of the game. this will of course set up the pre-determined (since last season) matchup of favre vs. the jets in the superbowl. Title: Re: AFC / NFC Championship Thread! Post by: Dave Gray on January 19, 2010, 03:00:16 pm I agree with Saints/Colts.
Title: Re: AFC / NFC Championship Thread! Post by: Brian Fein on January 19, 2010, 03:05:51 pm ^^ If the NFL was scripted, wouldn't the Vikings be facing the Packers in the championship game?
Title: Re: AFC / NFC Championship Thread! Post by: bsfins on January 19, 2010, 03:31:40 pm The Only one I got right, the first week of the Playoffs was the Jets game....Last week in the office Pools, I took all the home teams (Being the road teams played last week) And the Jets are the only ones who f'ked that up.....So 1-3 Wilcard weekend, 3-1 Divsional weekend....I say It's Colt/Saints..The Saints Win, The Saints Win!
Title: Re: AFC / NFC Championship Thread! Post by: BigDaddyFin on January 19, 2010, 05:18:48 pm I'm 4-4 as well. I like the Colts and the Saints this week.
Peyton Manning doesn't choke like the entire Chargers offense does every year and I'm sure that New Orleans at home with their defense will stop the Brett Faver Media Whore Express. Title: Re: AFC / NFC Championship Thread! Post by: Denver_Bronco on January 19, 2010, 06:35:35 pm I'm picking the Colts and the Vikings to make sure that it's Jets vs. NO in the big game.
Title: Re: AFC / NFC Championship Thread! Post by: Thundergod on January 19, 2010, 07:16:08 pm Is everyone picking the Saints because they truly believe they are better than the Vikes? Or is it just pure hatred towards Favre and the media circus that surrounds him? Minnesota seems to be a more complete team on defense and offense. Saints are all offense. I wouldn't mind seeing N.O. go, but I wouldn't be surprised (or mind) if Minnesota takes them out.
As annoying it is with all the retirement talk each year, I'll give credit to Favre, I don't think Tarvaris Jackson takes them this far if he were still in. Title: Re: AFC / NFC Championship Thread! Post by: dolphantom on January 20, 2010, 01:19:11 am . Rex Ryan's luck runs out here. i sure as hell hope so. Title: Re: AFC / NFC Championship Thread! Post by: jtex316 on January 20, 2010, 10:31:30 am Minnesota is great - at home. They are now travelling to the Saint's dome, and their win last week makes for a gigantic home field advantage - like that first game that they played after Katrina.
It's not going to be an all-out shootout, but when Favre throws that critical INT, or when Peterson fumbles that critical carry, the Saints are going to go ahead and capitalize on that. They commit turnovers and Darren Sharper now plays for the Saints. The Saints are not "All Offense" - they held Arizona to 14 points, 7 of which came on that very first run of the game. Arizona scored freaking 51 (45 offensively) last week vs. the Packers who were supposed to have a good defense. So the Saints are better than the Vikings, and I don't trust them to go on the road with a highly charged, emotional Superdome that they have to play against. The Saints have been here before recently (lost to the Bears in '06), the Vikings have not been there recently. |
