Title: Maine is rooting for the J-E-T-S JETS! JETS! JETS! This weekend. Post by: MaineDolFan on January 22, 2010, 09:55:53 am You read that correctly. I am not joking.
I hope Rex Ryan and the Jets go into Indy and punch Indy right in the mouth. "One shot! One shot, kid!" Indy's cluster fuck bush league move of benching their starters with a 5 point lead in the 3rd quarter in week 14 is what let this group of loud mouths in the playoffs in the first place. What goes around, comes around Polian! You let 'em in. Now they will let you out. Maybe next year you'll play the game the way it's designed - to win. Fire up some Fire Man Ed...or whatever the hell his name is. Say it with me! (http://precioustimeny.com/firemaned.jpg) J-E-T-S... JETS! JETS! JETS!!!! Fuck the Jets...and then fuck the Jets fans. They deserve nothing but abject misery and disappointment. To the two people tossing the personal barbs out there... I've erased the offensive posts, please don't use this thread for insults, or I'll need to lock it up. edited for paper mache disciplining... Title: Re: Maine is rooting for the J-E-T-S JETS! JETS! Did I say I want them to win the Super Bowl? No. I want them to beat the Colts. I didn't realize that there was a sudden love for that former divisional foe in Miami? And then I want Drew Brees to embarrass NY in front of the world. Title: Re: Maine is rooting for the J-E-T-S JETS! JETS! JETS! This weekend. Post by: Phishfan on January 22, 2010, 01:40:52 pm I want them to beat the Colts. I didn't realize that there was a sudden love for that former divisional foe in Miami? BINGO!My 2 favorite teams are the Dolphins and whoever is playing the Jets. The Dolphins don't play this sunday. GO COLTS! Title: Re: Maine is rooting for the J-E-T-S JETS! JETS! JETS! This weekend. The way I see it, if they happen to win this weekend, it gives them a possibility of winning the Super Bowl. So no way, no how do I want them even sniffing victory this weekend. Title: Re: Maine is rooting for the J-E-T-S JETS! JETS! JETS! This weekend. Post by: TonyB0D on January 22, 2010, 02:53:51 pm if the jets beat the colts, they are DEFINITELY winning the superbowl.

If the Jets beat the Colts and play the Vikings in the Superbowl, they lose. The Jets only offense is the run, and no one can run on the Vikes. If the Jets beat the Colts and play the Saints, then there is a possibility they could win the Superbowl, but still highly unlikely. But that won't happen because the Colts are going to stomp those stinkin' ass Jets. Title: Re: Maine is rooting for the J-E-T-S JETS! JETS! JETS! This weekend. Title: Re: Maine is rooting for the J-E-T-S JETS! JETS! JETS! This weekend. Post by: Spider-Dan on January 22, 2010, 05:02:31 pm If the Jets beat the Colts and play the Vikings in the Superbowl, they lose. The Jets only offense is the run, and no one can run on the Vikes. This is more than compensated for by the fact that it's entirely possible for NYJ to play MIN, have exactly 0 net offensive yards, and still put 20 points on the board. If Brett Favre threw 6 INTs, it wouldn't be the first time he's done it in a playoff game. Now, as to the matter of the Colts: 1) What lesson is Indy supposed to have learned here? By tanking against the Jets, the single team most likely to beat them (SD, the last team to beat them in a game that mattered) was eliminated from the playoffs. If IND had played NYJ for real, they'd probably by hosting the Chargers right now. 2) As a MIA fan, I don't want teams to learn a "lesson" about sitting players when they have a chance to go undefeated. I'm glad that Indy laid down for their last two games. And I hope that other teams in the future have the same attitude. As I've said many times, one of the major obstacles to going undefeated is being willing to brave the media backlash if one of your star players gets injured in a "meaningless" game. Jim Caldwell wasn't willing to do it, and that works just fine for me. Title: Re: Maine is rooting for the J-E-T-S JETS! JETS! JETS! This weekend. Post by: ethurst22a on January 22, 2010, 05:55:19 pm I usually take the playoffs and the Super Bowl off. The regular season is what I like best until the corporate moguls take over the Super Bowl. I'm a Dolphins supporter but the Jets have a better upside than Miami.
But, I'm with Maine. I'm rooting for the Jets. I'm not FAN-atic but a casual observer. I feel like the Jets have made more moves than the Dolphins, who have the second highest bloated payroll in the NFL and the organization is ego tripping like it has six Super Bowl trophies, bringing in celebrities and all this other stuff and the Jets have bypassed Miami. If you have made the correct personnel moves and somehow get into the playoffs, then you deserve your props and whether people like it or not, the Jets won 7 out of 8 down the stretch while Miami stumbled badly down the stretch playing without a sense of urgency against Buffalo, Tennessee, Houston and Pittsburgh. So lets compare, HONESTLY, the Jets to the Dolphins... Young Quarterback (Rookie) that can throw touch passes (Sanchez)? Check A solid offensive line with one of the most underrated centers (Nick Mangold) in the game? Check. A potential star at running back (Shonn Greene). Check. A potential Pro Bowl Tight End in the making (Dustin Keller). Check A number one threat down the field (Braylon Edwards). Check A middle linebacker who makes plays (Bart Scott), an all world cornerback (Revis) who can shut receivers down AND tackle and a safety that struggled but has picked it up latety (Kerry Rhodes). and lets not forget Leon Washington, who is hurt but doesn't flop down to the ground on kickoffs or punts. What do the Dolphins have? A Quarterback that cannot consistently throw touch passes to save his life. A payroll which is the second highest in the NFL. No downfield threat for a receiver. Marginal tight ends that borderline on pedestrian. Safeties that continually get beat in the middle of the field. A running back that's a number two draft choice that is dynamite when healthy but can't stay healthy (R.Brown). Old and slow linebackers. And a defensive scheme (3-4) that Parcells will not changed based on the talent that's available. A 150 million dollar a year line with a center who can't stay healthy. And lets not forget Fergie, J-Lo and the Williams sisters. I've been a Dolphins fan for over 40 years but I'll give credit where credit is due. Miami has the gall to go this celebrity route when the team really isn't that good. The fans of Miami deserve better. The Jets using their facilities during Super Bowl week will wake Miami fans up. That will be really funny if the Jets win and are walking around using those nice facilities in Davie. Year three of the Dolphins rebuilding plan will say a lot about this regime. But it appears to me that the Jets are going to be loaded and hell to deal with in years to come. Title: Re: Maine is rooting for the J-E-T-S JETS! JETS! JETS! This weekend. Post by: TonyB0D on January 22, 2010, 06:12:19 pm the jets are a joke who walked into this playoff spot. they were dead last in the passing offense this year. if it wasn't for 2 teams laying down, 3 missed FG's, and the worst playoff call i've seen in the past decade, they would be sitting at home too.

Miami had the same chances so there is no excuse. You could say that the Jets should have beat Miami twice but they didn't. It's called "luck" and the Jets are taking advantage of that "luck". The Dolphins didn't when they had the opportunity to snatch the division away from the Patriots. Title: Re: Maine is rooting for the J-E-T-S JETS! JETS! JETS! This weekend. They are considered second class citizens, and the "red-headed stepchild " to the Giants here.

Title: Re: Maine is rooting for the J-E-T-S JETS! JETS! JETS! This weekend. Post by: dolfan13 on January 24, 2010, 10:39:56 am the jets' little cinderella story is going to end ugly today.
it serves as a good lesson to everyone though about the realities of the nfl tournament. you make it, you have a legitimate shot to go all the way. the goal shouldn't be to build a team that has to have everything fall just right for them to get in every once in a decade. the goal should be to build a team that can consistently get in. you need a team with an offense that can put up serious points. salguero had a good column in the herald earlier this week... you don't want to model a team after the jets for today's nfl. the teams that are going to be consistently successful year after year, look more like the great passing teams. the rules are so slanted towards the offense, its almost not even fair. look at the numbers qb's and receivers are putting up nowadays. having a good running game doesn't matter. this is on the verge of arena football... seriously, the dolphins held the ball against the colts for what was it, 45 minutes and still lost.
