Title: WWJV on Facebook
Post by: Dave Gray on February 17, 2010, 02:35:42 pm
Shameless self-promotion:

I got tired of putting my movie/game review updates as my Facebook status, because I thought that it was over-saturating to those that weren't interested.  Instead, I created a page on Facebook for that specific purpose.  If you're interested, you can add the page and get updates that way.

I had to re-create the page, because I screwed something up.  If you added yourself, you'll have to do it again.  Sorry.

I have a question...

How do you find Facebook to be helpful in an internet marketing sense?

It depends on what it's for.

It works best for community driven businesses or things that have a strong brand loyalty factor.

For example, a local restaurant is good.  People who are "fans" likely have other people on their friends list who know of the restaurant and get exposure to it through Facebook.  Also, the restaurants (if they're updating) can put specials or live band info or whatever else to bring in repeat customers.

For community stuff like TDMMC or WWJV it works well, too.  A lot of people probably don't check this site every day but want to be aware of what's going on, in general.  I guarantee that if we put up a new Ring of Dishonor and mention it on the Facebook page, that people will come check it out.

Lastly, Facebook has its own search function.  If someone types in Miami Dolphins in the Facebook search, they may find the TDMMC link and check it out, bringing them to the site they'd have otherwise never found.
