Title: The best lunch combo option.
Post by: Dave Gray on February 18, 2010, 03:21:26 pm
I had lunch at Panera Bread today, so this was on the brain, but the concept applies to most every quick lunch-type place.

Discuss.

I was torn between "1/2 sandwich and cup of soup" and "large soup in bread bowl," but the answer I was really looking for was "full sandwich, bowl of soup, cobb salad and a couple of cannolis for dessert."

I think that Hoodie is correct.  The standard of 1/2 sandwich and soup can't lose.  ...but sometimes, if I want to go a little lighter, I'll go with sandwich and salad.

Can I get a burger and fries?(perhaps Onion rings? Jalapeno Poppers? Maybe a foot long Chili cheese coney? Large Iced tea.

I admit,when I go out out to eat for lunch,I usually get a chicken sandwhich,and maybe a side Coleslaw,Fries, baked potato,baked beans,onion rings ...Sandwhich and a side...

1/2 a sandwich isn't enough for me, even with the soup. I need a full one.

I'm a soup and salad type of girl, or my favorite- salad and baked potato.

In Miami, Hoodie would NEVER order the soup. Up here where the temps often only have one digit...absolutely.

/back on track

Soup in a bread bowl can't be beat.

I love Panara - I go with the tomato/mozzarella panini and french onion soup

Soup and Salad is the way to go.  The sandwiches at Panera are overrated.

Nothing like the soup in a bread bowl.

^^^ I've had a really weird eating schedule the last year or so... During the week, I am awake at 7:30 AM, but don't eat anything most days until after work around 5 PM. The only time I break that is if BoSoxGirl sends Fau to work with some cookies or brownies or something. I eat a standard-sized meal around 5-5:30 PM, and then I follow up around 8 PM with a light meal or snack (like a ham/cheese sandwich, small cobb salad or single slice of french bread pizza), maybe a couple of small snacks (2 cookie type) between then and midnight. Crash around 2:30ish...

The more I hear about Panera Bread, the more I want to actually eat there one of these times. I get a large coffee from there most mornings on the way to work, but have never sat down for a meal.

^^^^

I eat breakfast because to take my ADHD medication, I have to have food in me or I else I get sick.

I have 15 meals a week in my plan at Northeastern, so I eat 2 a day.

If I work out, I eat a meaty dinner afterwards at like 4:15 or so

If I don't, I eat whatever I feel like.

Northeastern makes great food.  I like their stir fry chicken, mixed with rice.   For soup, clam chowder is the best.

Of course, I have a HUGE sweet tooth.  I love butter-based vanilla frosting on chocolate cake, or uno's deep dish sundaes.  I also like blondies and brownies.

I LOVE to talk about food.

Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.  Get the bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich and a cinnamon crunch bagel to go with that coffee for breakfast.  For lunch or dinner, try your fav soup in a bread bowl.  I loved this salmon salad that had red onions and roasted peppers in it, but they took it off the menu.

I may have to bake you cookies Just for the shout out :)

If you go for breakfast, the best is the asiago bagel with the sun dried tomato cream cheese...it's like a breakfast pizza of awesome.

The fuji apple salad and the Bacon Turkey Bravo is the best lunch option.

I just had to replace my keyboard, which shorted out due to uncontrollable drool-drippage... That sounds so damned good that I might need to rethink my whole no-breakfast position.

Sun dried tomato cream cheese...mercy, I believe I could eat a tub of that with nothing but a large spoon for accompaniment.

The tuna salad sandwich is great at Panera as well. They put a mustard on it, which may not sound good (mustard and tuna), but it tastes amazing! They also have a great portobello mushroom sandwich.
