Title: Network Help
Post by: Pats2006 on February 20, 2010, 12:04:21 am
I have a Lynksys wireless router, a HP Desktop running Vista, and 2 lifebook laptops running WinXP (wireless). I want to network them together just to file share and maybe printing. The problem is with Vista seeing XP. I can see the desktop on the network but I can not see the laptops on the desktop. I set all computers named WORKGROUP and checked all firewalls?  With Vista I turned on file and I still can locate the laptops.

I got a virus on my desktop computer and had to wipe it out and reinstall Vista. Before I reinstalled Vista I sent files from my desktop to one of the laptops, so i know it can be done.

Any one know a way to fix this? I been looking online but cant seem to fix it?

Are you not seeing them under "My Network Places" in XP? I have a Vista desktop, Brian has a Vista Desktop, I have a XP laptop, XP netbook and Brian has a Win 7 laptop (man we have a lot of computers in this freaking house) and all can move from one to another under network places and the shared folder. Each computer has one so I can put stuff in this computer's shared folder and access it from others.
