The Dolphins Make Me Cry.com - Forums

Anybody down in South Florida have any info on Jim Mandich being ill?  Saw something where he has been hospitalized but I have no idea what the problem is.  The Dolphins announcer and 1972 perfect team member has always been a favorite of mine.  Hopefully it is nothing too serious.

I saw something in an article about the radio stations changing but it didn't say what was wrong with him. I too really like him.

Mad dog has done his last radio show and will no longer call dolphin games. I'll just leave it at that.

Do you know anything or don't you?

I know plenty, but I respect his privacy. Like I said the days off listening to mad dog on the afternoon drive and on dolphin games are over. He's pretty sick. He just got home this past weekend.   I'm sure he will make a statement regarding his health and his future pretty soon, but he's done.

I can respect that........but maybe you shouldn't have said anything then?

That's too bad.  Mandich annoyed me at first, but once I got to know his personality a little bit, I enjoyed him on the radio as both a color guy and an analyst.  I even wrote him a few times.  He's definitely part of the dolphins family and my thoughts go out to him.

I hope he gets through whatever is ailing him.

I like Mandich, but rarely listened to the games on the radio. I usually heard him on radio shows talking about the Phins, and his passion for the aqua and orange was apparent every time he opened his mouth.

^^ That annoyed me at first, how he'd go so excited that he'd scream over the play and you couldn't tell what was going on.  But, it just became clear that he loved the Dolphins like I did, so how could I not appreciate that.  It's not as great when you're listening live, but going back and seeing highlights of him screaming is funny and heartwarming...really brings me back.

i have written him a few times as well and he has always responded. i hope he gets better soon and is back on the air.

I enjoy listening to him quite a bit. Hopefully he gets well soon.

As much as I'd hate to see Mad Dog no longer doing the Fins games or having his radio show, I'm much more concerned about his health.  If he does in fact have a health issue, I hope that it isn't anything life threatening.  In addition to being a very entertaining personality and part of the legendary 1972 team, he seems like a genuinely quality person. 

I wish you the best Jim. Hopefully the phins can come through with a Superbowl for you soon.
