Title: Cool Wall - 2- Comic books Post by: bsfins on March 03, 2010, 11:38:19 am The Voting on the Hybrid electric car are Pretty cool, and Un Cool tied with 4 votes,Seriously uncool has 3 votes...(Cool 2, Super cool 1). I feel like the tie breaker (because it happens to work out here) Who had more Super cool votes,or Seriously un cool votes....So that makes the Hybrid Electric Car.....UN- COOL
Un-Cool Hybrid electric car Subject Number 2 Comic Books Is reading, collecting, being a fanboy of comics, comic books make you into the the Big bang theory guys? Has Hollywood, taking the comic books and churning them into block busters made Comics Cool? What do you say to Comic books? are they cool? Title: Re: Cool Wall - 2- Comic books Post by: Buddhagirl on March 03, 2010, 11:53:31 am I think you should add another choice that is just "meh". I honestly have no feeling either way on comic books.
Title: Re: Cool Wall - 2- Comic books Post by: bsfins on March 03, 2010, 11:56:49 am I'm the same way.....I have no feelings about Comic books....But if someone says..."Hey I'm a big comics book guy" is it cool? un cool?
Title: Re: Cool Wall - 2- Comic books Post by: Dave Gray on March 03, 2010, 12:01:15 pm Is pretty cool MORE than cool?

Title: Re: Cool Wall - 2- Comic books Post by: Sunstroke on March 03, 2010, 12:19:42 pm I went with "pretty cool" on this one...because comic books ARE pretty damned cool. They also spawn some of the best movies, so that should be taken into consideration. ;D Title: Re: Cool Wall - 2- Comic books Post by: Dave Gray on March 03, 2010, 12:22:30 pm I have started to really enjoy comics. I voted Super Cool, though they are probably not "cool" so much as an interesting medium. What I've found with comics is that most non-readers only think of Superman, Batman, etc -- but there are real stories and dramas and all kinds of other stuff that uses that medium to tell stories. Actually, most of my favorite stuff right now isn't "capes and cowls".

I think I would still be "meh" on it. Hmm... Title: Re: Cool Wall - 2- Comic books Post by: Phishfan on March 03, 2010, 01:30:43 pm To understand if comic books are cool in any way, all you have to do is drive to the closest comic book convention and view the people who attend. You don't even have to pay the entrance fee, juust stand at the door and watch and listen.
Title: Re: Cool Wall - 2- Comic books Post by: Sunstroke on March 03, 2010, 01:34:39 pm ^^^ You could say that about "almost any" convention out there...regardless of theme. Conventions draw the extreme among the followers of the theme. Also... "Cool" is the blue ribbon baby among "relative terms." Title: Re: Cool Wall - 2- Comic books Post by: Dave Gray on March 03, 2010, 02:00:04 pm I don't think it's fair to judge something solely by its hardest-core fans.
Trust me, I've been to some Dolphins functions with the biggest geeks I've ever met. That's not to say the Dolphins are un-cool. You don't even have to pay the entrance fee, juust stand at the door and watch and listen. HMMMM where to begin. I collect comics nad I have for the better part of twenty years. I have also been to ComiCon in San Diego which is the place for all things comic related. While you do see some hard core geeks at comicon, there are also some really cool people. I met Seth Green at his Robot Chicken booth and various other celebrities throught the weekend. I also saw some very attractive women dressed up as their favorite cartoon/movie/comic characters etc. I would equate the fans at Comicon to the hardcore football fans who dress up in extravagent regalia to show their loyalty to their team while attending games. Trust me, I've been to some Dolphins functions with the biggest geeks I've ever met. That's not to say the Dolphins are un-cool. Does the fact only geeks do it make it uncool? I wouldn't think so. Then you could only judge something by the fact only the popular people would do. I know people who are hooked on the Walking Dead comics ( as well as his other wrtitings) now and have never read a comic previously. These people have never been to a Comic-con and would seem like the in crowd to most. This just means to me that comics must be cool even though most of us have not been exposed to it. Chances are most of us could get hooked if we gave it a try so I'd say yes. Title: Re: Cool Wall - 2- Comic books Post by: Buddhagirl on March 06, 2012, 06:33:19 pm Me too. It drove conversation and was interesting to see different opinions.
