Our Oline and Dline needs a Huge dose of attitude. Its worth a penalty or two if it causes a few players to flinch all through the game. The prima donna positions (QB, Receiver, RB) need to STFU. But in the trenches they need to be angry , intimidating , and most of all RESPECTED. I could care less how much he pays out. Thats his problem. Lets hope we can lure him in........

But Incognito is a SERIOUS head case. He makes Brandon Marshall look like a choir boy with his college and pro antics.

The Dolphins need to swing a deal for Marshall. That would leave one hole for the offense which is at TE unless Kory Sperry shows something in camp. I'm not enamored with Fasano.

Parcells can probably deal with Incognito but not Marshall?

The Dolphins already have the 150 million dollar line. They need a receiver.

He may be Nuts .......but in that good (name your favorite football flick) kind of way. he's like that character that Forest Whitaker (as Charles Jefferson ) played in Fast Times at Ridgemount high. He's not a cancer in the Lockeroom. Working and training is never a problem.  He's a fucking Lightening Rod for the rest of the team. I want that kind of attitude and complete disrespect for the opposing team. Thats the edge we have been missing. Nice guys finish last in this league.  >:D

This offense can't afford to take on 15 yard unsportsmanlike penalties. 

I would rather have "attitude" on defense than offense.   

If anyone can control this guy its Parcells. And even if we get a 15 yarder here or there, if he can get us some time to chuck a few 15 yarders as well I'm all for it. Holding penalties drive me Nuts. Knocking someone on their ass penalties is worth the price IMO for the dividends it pays off in attitude. can you imagine Ginn stepping out of bounds instead of taking a hit while this guy is around?

I don't see how this would change Ginn.  Is Incognito gonna get into Ginn's face?  Beat him up?  Tackle during practice? Yeah, that is really gonna build team chemistry.  Particularly if Ginn stepped out of bounds instead of turning down field on a 3-long situation setup by a penalty caused by Incognito. 

Nor is Incognito going to intimidated anyone.  Defensive players hit and like to be hit.  It is offensive players such as QBs or WRs that can be rattled.  Richie isn't gonna scare a defensive lineman.  A hard hitting defensive player that will make a QB hesitate or WR run out of bounds might be worth a penalty now and then.  But not on offense. 

of course he's not gonna beat Ginn up. But I think a guy like him who just defended that pass Rush might say on the bench......WTF? You could have made that first down!? Don't cut and run! I think a guy like him can effect the entire Offense. I can count on both hands were Ricky and Ronnie were "this" close to breaking one if only for 1 more block.

I say sign him on the strength of his name.  I can see the headlines now:

You are mistaking "good offensive lineman" for "dirty offensive lineman."

If Incognito were actually good, then yes, we could talk about Ronnie or Ricky getting "one more block."  But for Incognito, it would be more likely that Ronnie/Ricky gets free because of a hold or chop block or leg whip, and then the play gets called back (this is why he's one of the most penalized players in the league; he's not smart enough to be able to get away with it).

Signing a dirty player to send a message is one thing.  Signing an incompetent dirty player (who gets caught all the time) is pointless.

BTW on just want to go on records as saying I hope the Dolphins sign him.  Should be fun watching Henne dealing with 3 and 25 on a regular basis. 

No doubt his temper has hurt him. Besides his fines he only made just over $1 million.  If he can be signed cheap, at 26 yrs old I think his upside is well worth his badside. He's got to be tired of the fines and paultry signing bonus's compared to those around him.

Incognito got kicked off the worst team in the league.  If that does not speak volumes about his character, or lack thereof, I don't know what does.  He is a punk.  He fought with his coaches, his team, and his fans.  He will not change.  You guys are nuts.

Spin his release however you want.  I live here amongst Rams fans and the St. Louis media.  The Colts can have him.  He alienates everyone around him.  He blamed the fans for the poor performance of the team.  He picked fights with people in the stands when they booed him after that.  Rams fans were not sorry to see him go.  Once he starts being penalized for piling on, late hits and head butting, fans of his new team will hate him too.

You've already invested 150 million dollars into your offensive line, which to me is the strength of the team which was shown when offensive linemen starting getting hurt. The Dolphins O-line didn't miss a beat. Carey picked up his game at the end of the year and Joe Berger (center) was a pleasant surprise when Grove got hurt.

The only reason I can see Miami coming after Incognito is that he comes cheap.

If Incognito is a head case which is well documented, why can't we go after Brandon Marshall? I would make that move in a heartbeat even if it takes trading down out of the first round. Marshall is just 25 years old.

Marshall's crime in Denver was being at the wrong place at the wrong time. From what I hear by those who have personally had interactions with him, he is a nice guy but freaked out over the Williams incident.

The last time I looked, Brandon Marshall hasn't gone into the stands to beat fans up. Incognito has. Marshall has not played dirty. Incognito has. Incognito attacked Rams management and fans verbally (ala Joey Porter). Everyone in Denver knows that Josh McDaniels is a clown and handled his players wrong (Tony Scheffler, Eddie Royal and Peyton Hillis) and picked Marshall as a scapegoat.

Yet, when it came down to the last option, Marshall won games for them last year and set an NFL record in a game with receptions. Simply put...McDaniels was an idiot with the way he handled players and assistants (Mike Nolan).

This character trip that the Dolphins are on is just bogus. They are a step behind the Jets and New England gets to reload this year. There is no way that Miami will go to the playoffs with that receiving squad they have unless they know something about Patrick Turner or Mark Duper or Mark Clayton find the fountain of youth and suit up.

Our offense would have worked in the 1980's and early 1990's. You have to have quick strike capability and we don't have it from the receiving corps.  Think about it. Brian Hartline is the only vertical threat that we have and that's because he can run patterns and can get away from people. And lets not talk about Ted Ginn Jr.

You make the deal for Marshall and lock him up for three years, get someone on the other side of him and now, you've got the potential to have a one play scoring drive and can strike from anywhere on the field.

If the Jets, which is reported, swing a deal for Marshall, pencil them in for the AFC Championship. We'll see Marshall alright...running past Dolphin defensive backs into the end zone.

Incognito is probably the coolest name in the NFL, but no, I do not want him on this team.


I mentioned this in another thread, but I'll give you some reasons why we don't trade for Brandon Marshall.

*This is widely considered the deepest draft ever, due to the possibility of a rookie wage scale after this year, thus a number of underclassmen making themselves eligible for the draft.  We want as many draft picks as we can get.  Next year's draft class is supposed to be very weak, so that when we go after free agents.

*Next year's free agent class is widely considered the best ever, due to all the restricted free agents becoming unrestricted free agents next year.  I'm sure there will be multiple superstar WR's in that class, if we haven't figured out our WR position by then.

We still have some glaring holes that, believe it or not, are more important than a WR.  Although Marshall is an exceptional WR, and probably considered in the top 3, playmaking WR's are a dime-a-dozen, and are almost as bad as RBs when it comes to the revolving door.  We need long term answers to the NT, OLB, and FS positions before worrying about WR.  I wouldn't be upset trading a 2nd round pick for Marshall, but I wouldn't be all for it either, but it looks like anything less than a 1st rounder is a no-go.

The Colts are just a few parts away from a championship team. They have one of the BEST offenses in the NFL.  Why would they mess with such a cancer? because he starts every game and works his ass off. Just needs to work on the off button. MUCH harder to work on the ON button.  ;) If he can be had cheap, his upside way out weighs the down. Gives us depth, and attitude. Something you can't have enough of in my book. The Rams were the worst team in the NFL. Guys like him get pissed loss after loss. They take it personal when getting Booed day in and day out. Last year was a big wake up call. The man is having dinner with coach and hopefully can work it out. thats my opinion and I'm sticking with it.

Anybody who is claiming the Colts are looking at him are talking out of their ass.  After being cut by the Rams he was grabbed off waivers.  He is now a Bills UFA. And even though the Bills have made no effort to resign him, the Colts can't sign him unless they lose an UFA. 

As for the Moss comparision.

A few things people forget about Moss was he was an outstanding player for the Vikings, then he got into a toxic environment and became a problem child.  While the Rams aren't a winning team they are not the toxic situation of the black hole.  Incongnito has never shown any willingness to behave. 

Also the Dolphin's aren't the 2007 NEP.  The captain of the NE offense is a three time superbowl winning QB.  At the start of the 2007 camp several players could look Moss in the eye and say, "we know what it takes to be a championship team and I have three rings to prove it.  You are part of a team.  Do your part and behave"  Who fuck can say that to Incongito on the Dolphin's roster?   Do the Dolphins even have a player who has been to the superbowl?    Chad Henne is not Tom Brady.  And while Sparono is a decent coach, he hasn't earned the respect Belichick has earned.

Even if he did clean it up , he would have to eat shit for a while before he got any penalties to go his way. I still think if he could be had for a bargain , we should do it. If the penalties start coming, he gets benched. But imagine if he starts keeping it together?  Oline talent like that is hard to find. I don't have any problem with having a bit of dirty player attitude on an O-line...you want at least some of that. That said, I don't want to throw an incognito bandaid at the position, I want to draft a young side of beef and teach him how to be barbecue (the best a side of beef can hope for).

Absolutely agree. But......I figure we have only so many draft picks , and so many other pressing Needs. We addressed the Oline in the draft pretty heavily the past few drafts. I'd like to see an Anchor Nose Tackle , and a Stud reciever , some more depth at Safty and someone to challenge the shit out of lazy Crowder. An experienced Lineman who can play several posistions, at a cheap price because of past Transgressions that are a Parcells speciality to fix.......I'd say go for it! Dinner came and went with Coach, He worked out  today, Lets hope he kicked the shit out of some pads.

1 year deal with incentives if he starts. Bargain money for a guy who can play 3 posistions on an Oline lacking serious depth. He gets stupid,  no loss.  Our Offense just got better. AND MEANER.  >:D

I'm not real familar with Incognito's body of work.  Is the guy just a thug or is he actually a good lineman?  Would he provide an upgrade at the position for the Fins?

Over Donald Thomas at RG? Yes, he's an upgrade. Over Justin Smiley at LG? Not even close.

Again, I just hope he doesn't piss on the Miami's locker room cheerios this season.

Thing about Incognito is he has started ALL 47 games he's played in. Not injury prone. In that reguard he's a huge asset , and considering he can play all over the place he makes a nice security Blanket if not a outright starter........for peanuts.  Guy plays to the whistle every play, his problem is that he keeps going after its blown.  ::) I think its that Midlife crisis time for him to start straightening up. Especially if he wants anything more then a 1 yr contract ever again.

he's a very good player, he's just a little nutso ala turley.  reading some of the quotes frm from the articles, he seems to know he screwed up and have genuine remorse.  we will see whether or not it's hot air.

You will be able to draft his replacement with a top 5 pick in the 2011 draft.

If Your against him I KNOW it was a good move now. I am not one of those.....before the move I have one opinion and then afterwards changes it to suit the situation with my team or an opposing team.  I was one of the very few on this board who thought hiring Parcells was a smart move before it happened and was disappointed when the Dolphins hired him.  When Pennington was released from the Jets I wanted the Pats to sign him to back up Brady (in hindsight Cassel was better than I thought he would be) and thought he was a very good add to the Dolphins, thus didn't want him to be a Dolphin.  Even more recently when Ferguson was a FA I said it would be smart for a team to sign him....and then week 8 see what the injury situation would look like. 

Incognito was a bad move for the Dolphins.  He isn't gonna behave and even if does he is a marked man.  Anything close to a foul and the Dolphins are getting a flag and losing 15 yards.  This is a great day for the rest of the AFCE.

Lets be fair. This guy has played on one of the worst teams in the NFL for 4 losing seasons.  His biggest fine came in a game where they lost 47-7 to the Ravens. That defense is not made of Little Angels and its got to get frustrating losing over and over and over again. So he lost it and it co$t him.  The man is a competitor. I see better times for the Dolphins and for Mr Incognito.

No point in making the bet if "winning" yields nothing. 

Plus the bet you are offering isn't very well defined.  And is open for interperation at the end of the season.  I would rather make a bet regarding who will end the season with more wins...Dolphins or Patriots.   Much more easily defined. 

BTW if he spends the season on the bench, it will probably be because he didn't behave in pre-season and/or practices.  Hardly a contributing member of the team then.
