I felt like most of the main stream media,felt Tebow would go in the 3rd round,maaybe some team may take a flyer on him late second round.....I see a few writers (Peter King in His MMQB this morning) have him now going in the first round? Is this media hype,publicity machine full steam ahead...or is it real?

This isn't an arguement about how good is Tim Tebow....I just have a hard time seeing him jumping 2 rounds because of his combine,and pro day....

I see him as the player that slips and ESPN has that awkward shot of him over and over.

I think that 3rd round is probably appropriate.  I just think that the guy is a lighting-rod of negativity for your franchise to take with a "meaningful pick", unless you're the Jags.  What I mean by that is that I think that almost any fan base will not be too happy about the pick.  It's pretty common sentiment that the guy isn't a serious QB choice for any NFL team.

I don't think he'll last past the middle of the second round. If you look at ANALYSTS and PERSONNEL PEOPLE (as opposed to, say, Chad Henne) said after his Pro Day, the endorsements were pretty clear. Everyone came away impressed with the improvements to his throwing motion, drop and grip. Maybe just as importantly, Tebow demonstrates his willingness and ability to work hard. With his physical talents, intelligence and effort, he'll be a solid player -- even if he doesn't make it at quarterback.

A lot will come down to how he does in individual workouts, of course. He has a good handful of workouts already scheduled (including one with the Patriots) and if he can avoid reverting to his previous bad habits during those, he could help himself a great deal.


Among Joe Schmoe and Dave Gray, sure, but pretty much every "real expert" I've heard says the opposite.

Dave, I don't think he'll be there for the awkward shot - those are guys who are thought to be high first round picks. I don't know of anyone who has thought that Tebow is going to go that high.

I have seen ESPN do that in some of their homes. They don't necessarily need to be in NYC for that camera shot.

I can give you that he's a hard worker.  He definitely has the right character and his attitude is exactly what you want out of a college player -- a guy who wants to come in, learn, and get better.  But the guy isn't smart.  Everything I've heard is that he's a few crayons short in the box and his Wonderlic score blows.  (Not that you can't be dumb and still good at football.)

You said it yourself -- he may be good, but not at QB.  I don't think any teams want to risk using a high pick on a player that's going to be completely switching to a different skill-set.  I also question whether teams want to take a gamble on a guy who learned a new throwing motion over the last few months.

As somewhat of a Gator fan, I see Tebow for what he is -- a college type player with physical attributes and heart.  However, those attributes don't matter nearly as much in the pros, because everyone else is as big and fast as you are, so you can't just outmatch them physically.  It comes down to passing, and Tebow has never been above average in this area.

It looks like a similar situation to what Eric Crouch was a few years back -- a great athlete for college, but not a great QB in the NFL.

They really only do that shot on guys who are invited and given a table for their family at the draft, the sure-fire 1st rounders. Tebow probably won't even take the time to be at the draft in April...there are still so many third world foreskins out there in dire need of being snipped in the Lord's name.

Yeah, but the reason I didn't use Russell as an example is because he was drafted highly to become a franchise QB, while Crouch was taken later as an experiment.  I see Tebow having a similar fate.

I see him as a 3rd rounder also.  He is still a question mark as far as NFL skills go.

Wasn't it reported that the NFL invited him to New York for the draft,but he turned them down...

I'm a believer that third round makes sense,but I'm a nobody,and the NFL doesn't always make sense...Someone could love him that much,to take him higher..(In my Judy Tenuta voice) It Could happen....

I bet some idiot GM will take him in Round 1. The hype machine is running at full steam right now and some dumbass GM will blow his load on this sales pitch.

Tebow won't be in the NFL by 2013.

The Pats will take him in the second round.

I use the Eric Crouch analogy more because of who they are.  Crouch was an option QB that had a lot of success and a Heisman Trophy using his legs. 

Tebow is exactly the same guy, minus the option. 

A guy that is in the draft at QB and just learned how to throw two weeks ago, a guy who has taken like 3 snaps from under center, isn't the guy I want leading my team.

I don't think the Pats are going to draft him. I think the Pats are trying to make it appear as though they want to draft him

middle of second thru middle of third. 

Best place for Tebow is Miami, it runs his type of offense.
