Can someone fill me in?  I don't follow college all that much, so I don't know players all that well, but we seemed to kind of be narrowing in to what the Dolphins needs are in the draft.  With trades and acquisitions, is that getting any more narrowed?

Since we have a pretty high pick, it's probably fairly easy to predict the top few guys.  Does there seem to be a consensus of a handful of likely picks from fans and experts alike?

The downside, it doesn't mention the latest hub bub about us trading Smiley to possibly draft an Olineman the trifecta "rumored" to be  be infatuated with...

NT Dan Williams...everything else is a smokescreen.

Jason Pierre-Paul, Dan Williams, Dez Bryant (eh), Brandon Graham, Sergio Kindle (boo) and Earl Thomas ... those are the only names I've heard us drafting lately.  I would bet a large sum of money that we draft JPP or Dan Williams.

ideal draft day:  1st round Dez Bryant....2nd round: terrance cody

^^^ Nooooo on Dez Bryant...you only draft a WR in the front half of the first round if they are a special talent, and Dez, while good, isn't a special WR.

If we don't go NT in rd 1, I wouldn't have a problem at all with Cody in rd 2.

I am starting to see more and more mocks moving Dan Williams up in rd 1, to the point where I wonder if he'll be gone by Miami's pick. If I were to do a top-4 players I'd like to see Miami consider in round one, by "take this one if available, if not, the next one" order.

1) NT Dan Williams
2) DE Jason Pierre-Paul
3) FS Earl Thomas
4) DE Brandon Graham

I doubt Terrance Cody will be available in round 2.  I could be wrong...

I would like to see the Dolphins go after Golden Tate or Rolando McClain over Dez Bryant.

Does this exclude the possibility of trading it?  My hunch is we're shopping our #1.

^^^ it's what i'm feeling too... this team has sooo many holes to fill with starters, and its a pretty deep draft pool. trade down and pick up some more picks. unless eric berry miraculously falls to #12.

having seen a lot of earl thomas play though for the horns, the guy just makes plays all over the field. last year when he was running back yet another pick for a td, i was thinking at that point he could probably start for the fins as a free safety. i wouldn't mind seeing him in aqua and orange...

I wouldn't go first round on a receiver either.  Any chance that Golden Tate would drop to the second round?  Can't put my finger on it, but something about that guy just says "solid NFL receiver".  And I hate Notre Dame so it pains me to say that.   ;D

Gotta say, 'Stroke, Pierre-Paul kind of scares me.  Isn't he really new to high-level football?  I'm usually wary of the physical freaks that get by on athletic ability on a lower level, because in the pros, everyone's a physical freak.  I could be wrong, of course.

I agree with you in some cases, and Pierre-Paul sort of scares me a little as well. Sometimes you just have to take a chance on a physical freak from a smaller school if you think that freak will develop into, say, a DeMarcus Ware type (also had very little (2 years) starting experience at small school (Troy)). Bottom line is that if the coaches and GM think he can play in the NFL, I am inclined to disregard the experience and go for that talent. You can teach fundamentals and technique more easily than you can teach "bigger/faster." ;D

I question calling USF a small football school. The Big East is a BCS conference afterall.

True...but I still see them in that light. Give them a couple more years in the Big East and I'll be able to call them "a major" with a straight face.

...especially if they keep churning out NFL talent. ;D
