1st half of the season is fairly stacked.  I hope Sparano doesn't have the team starting slow like last year.

On a positive note, it could be a setup to a great run for the playoffs.  It makes it extra nice that we finish with the Pats, which could be a deciding game.

Realistic hopes for this season are 9-7 to 11-5.  Hopefully we can win some games early unlike the last two years.

At New England in January?  F!

@ NE in Jan, @ Jets in Dec are the two weather affected road games.

First two games on the road, and then two night games so heat should not be too much of a factor for home games, it could still be hot for Jets or NE at MIA but it won't be in the sun as if it was an afternoon game.

At a quick glance, being somewhat skeptical, I'm looking at 8-9 wins.  ...so if we steal a game of two, we can have 10-11 wins.  ...sounds about right.

Cincy on Halloween.  That blows my road trip dream for this season.  FML

By this schedule we'll be lucky to break 7 wins.  I foresee a point where the Dolphins are 1-7. :(

I think the NFL screws us for the 2nd straight year.  2 away games off the bat (MIN - 2009 NFC title game) and then at home against two 2009 playoff teams.

last year they had us with 3 straight games against 2008 playoff teams.

for pete's sake we were 7-9 last year.  I'll use the PIT Stillers as an example of biasness since I live in Central PA and I hate the focking Stillers and their obnoxious fans.

the winning pct (2009 records) of this year's Phins opponents is .500 (128-128).  compare that with PIT (who went 9-7) whose 2010 schedule has them playing against a winning pct of .492 (126-130)

come on man! the league always give preference to the teams that sell around the league and the Stillers are a great example of that.  hell, they came off a 2008 SB season and they still had a shitty schedule last year.

I think it's possible to go 6-2 (maybe 7-1) at home and then split the away games, a 10-6 or 11-5 season is in the realm of possibility.

Scheduling has been determined by divisions for quite some time now. You can't use the tired excuse of the NFL favoring teams anymore. We have six games automatically determined by our division opponents. We have another four games against an entire division from the NFC (our entire division also plays them). We have four games against an entire division from the AFC (what do you know the rest of our division also plays them). That only leaves two more games to figure out and those are against teams who compare to our finish last year. There is no room for bias with that method.

The Dolphin's opponents were set long ago, and is done by a set formula, there is no bias or preferential treatment by the league.  The only thing released yesterday was what order the games will be played.  You have to play the Patriots twice, the Jets twice, Min etc.  I am not really sure what the big deal is in playing a bunch of good teams in a row then a bunch of non playoff teams in a row vs. mixing it up a bit more.

There was one way in which the Dolphin's did not make out well.  First home game during daylight isn't until Oct 24 when the sun beating down on the away team's bench and the Dolphin's being in the shade will be less of an issue than it is in early Sept.  However, the Dolphins have two potential cold away games against divisional rivals.  However, you can blame some of that on the scheduling challenges presented by the fact that the Marlins have home games on Sunday week 1 and 3 making scheduling the Dolphins more challenging during the early part of the season.

In another way the Dolphins made out pretty good.  THREE prime time games, two of them at home.  That is a lot for a sub .500 team that hasn't won a playoff game in a decade.

The other thing is the one Monday game the Dolphins have is before their bye week.  So despite having prime time games the Dolphins have no uneven short weeks.  Dolphins do have a short week before the Bears...but the Bears have the same short week.  Compare that to the Jets who have 3 Sunday games following Monday night games.

I believe Stephen Ross was lobbying for more 4:15pm games this season.  the cold weather games in the late season don't bother me.  I believe that's an age old myth about warmer teams playing the cold, snow late in the season.  I'm sure everyone has players on their teams that played college ball in the northeast/midwest during the late october and november months.  it's the team's personnel and how bad you want the game that determines those wins....both teams are playing in the crap weather.

It is true both teams have player that have played college ball in cold weather.  And both teams play in the same crap. The cold weather is only one factor.

But it is a factor.  The body does accumulate to the temperature.  It is why the same February weather in Orlando will have the natives wearing a sweater and complaining about the cold and the tourist from up north running around in tank tops and shorts.  I have had friends that were not bothered by cold weather who then moved south for two or three years than returned and were miserable the first winter back.  I even find that the same weather in March or April will have me outside in shorts will have me wearing a sweatshirt in Sept cause in Sept my body is use to being hot in March it is use to being cold and has adjusted.  Also a northern team can practice outdoor in bad weather or practice indoors to get ready to play a dome team.  Unless Mia has a football field size meat locker the Dolphins can't practice in -10F weather.

^^^ That crap is mental and not physical. I have been in Florida for 10 years now and haven't had any changes to how I perceive hot or cold at all.

^^^ some of it is actual physiological changes to the body.  some of it is physiological.   but even if most of it is mental so what?  if one team is okay or mildly bothered and the other team has players who are miserable it is still a factor.

Oh and about your personal experience...you move to Florida from where?  West Virginia or North Dakota?  While WV has "winter", a very bad WV winter by Nothern standards is a very mild winter.

Yes I moved from WV. And I have yet to see any conditions where football has been played that I haven't experienced myself so the climate difference between a WV winter and one in New England may have a gap for a years analysis but as far as the limited amount of time a Miami Dolphin team would be in town it is minimal.

The bottom line is that if you are a Championship caliber football team, it shouldn't matter whether its cold or hot. you bring your "A" game.

Dolphins fans have become wusses and want 4:15pm games to hide from the sun. What's happening to people these days? SOFT! For crying out loud, you live in South Florida!

When the Dolphins played in the OB in the 60's and 70's NO ONE complained about watching a game in 90 degree heat. We were happy that we had a great football team.  You had grandmas and grandpas which were 80 years old at the game screaming their lungs out.

Fans complain because of the heat. They don't want their cell phones to melt while they are talking stocks instead of watching the action. If you don't like the 1pm start time, don't go to the game. Watch it on DirecTV or something.

Who gives a &*&*that Miami has to go to Gillette Stadium for the finale. If the Dolphins are good as advertised, they should have the division tucked away by the 13th week. The heat at 1PM USE to be a factor but athletes are so well conditioned, the heat factor for a game doesn't carry the weight it once did. The same can be said for a team playing in cold weather.

The only way that Miami is going to be a championship team is to play well on the road and beat good teams on the road. Plain and simple. Win the games wherever they are played.
