That's just posturing bullcrap, in my opinion.  The only reason that the people in the Middle East will even see it is because the news stations are talking about it 24-7.

The guy is doing this for attention and everyone is giving it to him.

Free speech means protecting the free speech of idiots, too.  The news stations should just let the guy do his thing, ignore it, and report on real news.

I'm much more bothered by politicians (or pundits) that think they are celebrities: Sharpton, Glenn Beck, Palin, Rush, etc -- stirring up controversy where none would otherwise exist.

Well, that too.  I would add Obama to that list, but that would make me a racist.

No, it wouldn't make you racist (unless your reason for not wanting to hear about him is because of his race), it would, however, make you incredibly ignorant. 

The single most important responsibility of the press is to keep the electorate informed of workings of the government.   Obama is the head of the executive branch and holds the single most important office in our democracy.  Would you like the press to stop reporting on Supreme Court decisions and the working of the congress as well?

I think it's perfectly acceptable for politicians to go on mainstream television, particularly the president, who is responsible for relaying messages to the American people.  Bush did the same thing, and every president after him will, as well.
