Title: 2011 Team Needs Post by: MikeO on October 24, 2010, 10:35:09 pm Well this season is over. Yes, before Halloween its over folks. 3rd place in this division is an impossible hill to climb considering we already lost to both teams ahead of us at home. And the AFC WildCard picture with Baltimore, Houston, and the Jets/Pats division loser is also impossible. 0-3 at home. All 3 losses inside the AFC. It's over, the season is over.
So, IF there is even a season next year (or even an offseason aside from a draft) our 3 main needs..... 1) RB-- Brown stinks and Ricky is old. Get rid of both and get some speed at RB 2) TE---Fasano is nice but not great by any means. More weapons on offense 3) CB--Jason Allen sucks and Sean Smith is a 2nd round bust. We need someone opposite Vonate. Too many times we give up 3rd and 8 or 3rd and 12 because we have crappy CB's on the field Title: Re: 2011 Team Needs Post by: Dave Gray on October 24, 2010, 11:00:34 pm I think it's too early to start evaluating this kind of stuff. Who knows what we'll feel about Henne and others by the year end?
I do agree that we'll need to address running back, though. Ricky is likely done, because of age, and Ronnie is ineffective, not to mention that this has become a RBBC league. Title: Re: 2011 Team Needs Post by: Tenshot13 on October 24, 2010, 11:01:19 pm Have you even seen the rest of our schedule? I'll even be realistic by my standards and give an evaluation on each game.
8 Oct 31 MIA @ CIN I'm high on Tampa this year, but if they can beat them we can. 9 Nov 07 MIA @ BAL Hate to say this, but this is probably a close loss like the Steelers game, but that doesn't mean we cant win it. 10 Nov 14 TEN @ MIA I give this one about 50/50 11 Nov 18 CHI @ MIA I think we can rape Cutler, so I say a win 12 Nov 28 MIA @ OAK The Raider shouldn't be overlooked, but it should be a win. 13 Dec 05 CLE @ MIA Should be a win 14 Dec 12 MIA @ NYJ We played them tough at home...we're undefeated on the road, so I give this one a 50/50 shot. 15 Dec 19 BUF @ MIA Should be win 16 Dec 26 DET @ MIA Another team not to overlook, but should be a win 17 Jan 02 MIA @ NE We shut them down offensively and our ST has improved since the first game. Another 50/50 shot. If you ask me, at best we could finish, from an optimistic view, we could finish 12-4 (This is if we win all the games I said we should, and win all the 50/50 games I mentioned...I included a loss to BALT in this) and at worst IMO from a pessimistic view we finish 9-7 (that's winning all the games I think we can win and losing all the 50/50 games I mentioned). I think we can fall somewhere in the middle of that and finish 10-6 or 11-5. Then again, I'm a huge homer :D As far as what we need for next year... 1)RB--we won't keep Ronnie after this year...we need to draft his replacement 2)NT--I like how Solai has been playing this year, but we need another NT to rotate with him...I like Solai as a backup, but we need a stud for a starter. 3)CB--I'm not ready to give up on Smith yet...he's still young, plus Jason Allen has been more than serviceable as the #2 CB this year. Depth would be great at the position (Sapp...really? that guy sucks), for an opportunity for a young CB to take over in the future. Title: Re: 2011 Team Needs Post by: MikeO on October 24, 2010, 11:17:17 pm Benny Sapp was a starter on Minny last year a team that was inches away from a Super Bowl and one of the better defenses the NFL has seen in the last 10 years. Don't be knocking Benny Sapp. As a 3rd CB he is more than fine.
But Smith and Allen SUCK more and more each week. Today Jason Allen was awful. We need a #2 CB in the worst way. And I don't care what our schedule is, the Jets and Pats aren't gonna lose that much to where we can catch them. And if we tie them they will own tiebreakers anyway probably. This year, Jason Allen, so far, is a good CB....the past doesn't matter, ask Joey Porter. Pro Bowl LB who has SUCKED for the past 2 years. Title: Re: 2011 Team Needs Post by: Tenshot13 on October 24, 2010, 11:53:50 pm I'm not going to post NE schedule and do what I did for MIA, but looking it over (don't be lazy...look it up yourself), NE has a tough road ahead of them...INDY...NYJ again...GB...PITT...MIA at the end of the year...they could have a 9-7 record as well, but I see them more at 10-6...the Jets have an easier schedule, so I see them winning the division or at the very least winning the wild card. By the way, BALT has a more brutal schedule ahead of them...PITT again, HOU again, NO, ATL, MIA....They could very well miss the playoffs, and that would suck for them b/c I think they have one of the most talented teams in the NFL. Hey man, it's not even half way there and it's not over until it's over.
Title: Re: 2011 Team Needs Post by: dolfan13 on October 24, 2010, 11:58:47 pm it's looking like 10 wins won't even get you a wildcard in the afc this year.
they'll have to get wins with cin, ten, chi, oak, cle, buf, & det, no room for error in these games. they then will have to win 1 against either bal, ne, or nyj. that will give them 11 wins and a wildcard. Title: Re: 2011 Team Needs Post by: Tenshot13 on October 25, 2010, 12:04:05 am it's looking like 10 wins won't even get you a wildcard in the afc this year. We just outplayed the best team IMO in the NFL and lost by a bullshit call. I think we can hang with any of those teams. SO SAYS THE ETERNAL OPTIMIST!!! :Dthey'll have to get wins with cin, ten, chi, oak, cle, buf, & det, no room for error in these games. they then will have to win 1 against either bal, ne, or nyj. that will give them 11 wins and a wildcard. Pro Bowl LB who has SUCKED for the past 2 years. Oh please, Jason Allen got beat for a 53 yard TD today. Then gave up a 3rd and 9 to some WR on Pitt nobody has even heard of before. Allen has been god awful this year. Farve gave him 2 gifts in one game. Everyone now thinks he is deion sanders. Please, open your eyes people Title: Re: 2011 Team Needs Post by: MikeO on October 25, 2010, 12:06:10 am it's looking like 10 wins won't even get you a wildcard in the afc this year. they'll have to get wins with cin, ten, chi, oak, cle, buf, & det, no room for error in these games. they then will have to win 1 against either bal, ne, or nyj. that will give them 11 wins and a wildcard. Miami is toast this year. In the AFC they don't stand a shot in hell. Tiebreakers all working against us. 2 division losses, we lose tiebreakers inside the AFC. Now 3 losses inside the AFC already. Just not gonna happen. Title: Re: 2011 Team Needs Post by: MikeO on October 25, 2010, 12:08:44 am We just outplayed the best team IMO in the NFL and lost by a bullshit call. Now, without reading anything else in this thread, we need: A speed receiver Tight end Another running back (youth and speed) a defensive lineman offensive lineman Title: Re: 2011 Team Needs Post by: badger6 on October 25, 2010, 05:17:01 am We do need a RB for next year as the biggest need as far as I can see it. But we should be able to keep one of the current ones. I would keep Ricky over Ronnie at this point. That's if he decides to stick around however.
Title: Re: 2011 Team Needs Post by: Frimp on October 25, 2010, 09:11:39 am We need another one because both of their futures with the team is very uncertain. If they come back, great. But we should be grooming another one.
Title: Re: 2011 Team Needs Post by: masterfins on October 25, 2010, 11:31:57 am Wow, pessimism at it's best, why not throw out 2011 and skip ahead to 2012?? Tenshot makes a good analysis of our schedule ahead; from the start of training camp this was never predicted to be a 13 or 14 win team, or even a 12 win team for that matter. It certainly would be nice to have one or two more wins at this point, but I think the Fins can still get to ten wins and make the playoffs. I don't see any extremely dominant teams in the AFC this year, and there are a lot of heartbreaking losses ahead for other teams in the AFC. Who would have thought the Raiders would put up 59 pts???
