(I'm Sorry for...A. if this sounds like a I'm a Mr grumpy pants  B.If I mentioned these people before C. If I'm hijacking the thread)

1.) People who dial my phone number by mistake and say Who's this? Where's So and so? Then hit redial, dial the number again then ask me, What number did I call? Then dial it again, and hang up as soon as I pick up the phone.....

2.) People that have the need to walk around endlessly talking on their phone, texting, or checking their facebook status....You people run right into me,when I'm trying to avoid you,and then give me dirty looks...

3.) People that insist on walking down the middle of an aisle at the store with their shopping cart/trolley/pram then leave it blocking the entire aisle, because you want to sit there and read the entire label.

4.) (I'm sorry but the next two tend to be women things) Walking in of the said store, grab you chopping cart, trolley, pram, right in the middle of the second automatic door of the breeze way STOP.Start rummaging through your purse for a cell phone, shopping list,to make a decision on where you want to go first.

5.) (I have to throw old people in this one too) Walking out of said store, same automatic doors,Stop in the middle of them again to pull your keys, cell phone, look at your receipt. The Worse...Stand there and look amazed...It's raining...What do I do?

6.) Reality T.V. stars that think they're something

Are you seriously expecting highly motivated, well prepared students in an intro business course at a community college with open enrollment?

I am not knocking community colleges, they are wonderful programs that often have better teachers than the universities, but the level of academic preparedness and motivation particularly in the day school is lower than the average high school.  If you are expecting otherwise you ought teach elsewhere, such as a grad school.

I am actually curious as to the reason for hating of France.  Is the reason for this because they believed the UN reports that there was no WMD in Iraqi and rejected the blatantly falsified reports generated by the Bush administration?

You hit it right on the head, Hoodie.  Half of all the high school students in this area attend Gulf Coast Community College, although only a small percentage of them actually finish.  A lot of them have trouble with proper punctuation and other grammatical errors when they write their papers.  Makes me wonder how on earth they got high school diplomas.

I make it very clear at the beginning of my classes that these are COLLEGE LEVEL courses for COLLEGE CREDIT.  You are expected to use the knowledge you acquired in high school and are here to learn to think for yourself.

I think you are expecting too much.  Keep in mind that for the most part the top high school students don't attend GCCC.  They go straight to a four year college, the ones that are not prepared to handle a "real" college default to your school.  I am not saying you must lower your standards for grading, but don't hate the mediocre students because they are mediocre.  If they had the skill set to get into Harvard they would not be in your classroom.  But also keep in mind you are teaching business, not grammar.  You should not hold back a student who learns the concepts of your class (business) but arrived having lacked something else (grammar).  The purpose of your college is to give not so great students a second chance, don't hate them for not being top students.  Top students is NOT your customer base.

The entire Country of France

I'm all about hating and disliking things - this thread is right up my alley.

I'm just curious about this one. France has one of the world's highest literacy rates (e.g. they are smart),  have one of the world's highest environmentally-conscious ratings (e.g. they are healthy), and are the world's top tourist country destination (e.g. people like them).

There's also a bazillion years of history, culture, and art that comes from France.

Why hate France? It's not like they are North Korea or Iraq or something...

Nah...French hating really came into its own when the French Intelligence agencies concluded the US was full of shit regarding Iraqi WMD and congress passed a law renamed fried potatoes to "freedom fries".

A sunstroke they have a spine.  They didn't kowtow to the US regarding the phony Iraqi WMD.

Well the question becomes did they not really believe that Iraq had WMD's or did they just not think there was enough evidence of them for the US to act on it yet.  I tend to think it was the latter and in hindsight, they probably were right to want a little more evidence.  It's been suggested that Saddam wanted us to believe he had WMD's when in fact he didn't.  That doesn't necessarily mean we fabricated the whole thing, just that we should have been more diligent about using facts rather than speculation.

And the attitude that the French lacked a backbone goes back far further than Iraq, it goes all the way back to World War II, it was just rekindled with Iraq.

The french got overwhelmed in WWII by a vastly superior german army.  It was the British and Neville Chamberlain that had no spine, it was not the french that were pushing for the appeasement of Hitler.  The French miscalculated and were prepared for trench warfare, not tanks.

The French were right to oppose the invasion of Iraq.  Folks seem unwilling to accept this.

The problem is, a lot of my students DO have the skill to excel in school.  They just don't have the will.  They think mom and dad or someone else will take care of everything for them.  Hence, I wrote what I did.

The French were right to oppose the invasion of Iraq.  Folks seem unwilling to accept this.
Which we couldn't have possibly known prior to the invasion of Iraq.  Had we found WMD's and destroyed them, they would have looked like fools.  So while I'm happy that it worked out like they thought it would, you also have to realize that we would have been taking a big chance if we did nothing. The fact that they were right doesn't change the fact that we wouldn't have known they were right unless we went in and made sure of it.  I respected their position at the time, but I don't disagree with our actions, not then and not now.  I don't have a problem with the French, but we all need to realize that it's because of the US' actions that we know they were right.

TLDR: It's better to have gone in and been wrong, then not to have gone in and been right.  Don't you agree?

Not at all.  The US didn't misinterpret intelligence data.  The US made blatant fabrications and lied to UN.  The US falsified evidence to make their case that there was WMD.  This is no different than Gleiwitz incident and Operation Himmler.

I base most of my dislikes on sheer annoyance factor.

LOL I am glad to see that I have everyone talking about my dislike of the French. Generally every French person I have ever met has really annoyed the piss out of me. Because of this I have no desire to ever visit France and like Stroke said they do seem to lack any spinal fortitude. Hoodie I don't even know what the hell you are talking about but you are way off base on your assessment of my dislike for the French but you get a gold star on your efforts my friend.

I got to ask. I understand most people's response whether I agree or not but Tim McGraw? I don't get it.

Again this is more of an annoyance than anything. I used to like Tim but I can not think of one song he has made in the last 10 years that has not just bugged the ever living shit out of me. I like Country music.....well I like anything pre 2000 that was country. Todays Country is really just Pop anymore. I am more into the 60's-80's country but in his early years Tim had some good songs. Now I can not seem to escape his trash and he is always on the radio out here. I am glad I have XM but when I am unable to listen to it, it seems his trash is always on the radio.

Because Az lives in the desert, and doesn't care where the green grass grows...He doesn't like it, he doesn't love it,and doesn't want more of it.... ;D :D

That was pretty good B made me chuckle.  ;D

Because they believed less reliable intelligence that there were WMD's.  Saddam wanted his enemies to believe he had WMD's and he believed the US wouldn't attack without positive physical evidence which he knew they would never get because they didn't exist.  Saddam could have simply let investigators do their job unimpeded and they would have known for sure that Saddam didn't have WMD's, but he didn't.  Why?  He bluffed.  Pure and simple.  What he didn't figure was that Bush would call him on his bluff.  He figured Bush would fold without UN backing.

So you would rather still have Saddam in Iraq with the threat of WMD's still in play not knowing whether he could start a nuclear war at any moment?  I don't think even the French would rather have that.

There was this obnoxious POS named Tommy that used to post up here before he had his ass summarily booted out for the general betterment of the board. While I don't share the same level of enthusiasm for his demise here as you do, I otherwise agree.  The boy didn't have one original thought in his head.  He would go to another board, see something clever and then come here and try to pass it off as his own.  Or he would take something here and pass it off as his own on another board.  Actually...he still does.

The funny part about all that?  He actually thought / thinks he gets away with it.

As a pretty good friend of Tommy's, I feel compelled to respond to both of you and tell you that you both could not be more wrong.

I've gotten to know Tommy via AIM for a long time and he is a good person.

If "Stealing" posts off a message board qualifies you as a bad person, that's some pretty high standards.  It's not stealing.   Message boards are not governed by any rules.  I've used other people's ideas on message boards before.

"Gets away with it?"  In order to get away with something, you have to do something wrong.  And there's nothing wrong with borrowing somebody else's idea on an INTERNET MESSAGE BOARD!!

It's stated best right here:

There is totally something wrong with copying another person's post word for word and that particular post was copied on at least one other board, which is why I reported it.  I get along reasonably well with Tommy, but plagiarism in any from is wrong, regardless of where it's done.

I'm afraid clicking on that link isn't possible for me...there is absolutely nothing at phinzrage that I'm interested in.

And as far as "borrowing someone's idea" goes...Tommy didn't "borrow ideas," he copied other people's words, and tried, repeatedly, to pass them off as his own. I understand that you have some sort of medical condition that sort of skews your take on reality, so allow me to clue you in on this one... plagiarism is wrong. In most forms, it's not only wrong, it's illegal. Wrap your bean around that one and step back up to the "support an unethical schmuck" podium and give it another go...

Tommy is, was, and short of intense psychiatric counseling, always will be an unethical, unoriginal slimy excuse for a human being.

Someone recently told me he has a bitchin' boat though...

It's not plagarism.  Period.  Internet Message boards are not governed by those ridiculous laws that I have to cope with at school.   Anything you post is free domain.  And if you take that much pride in what you post on a message board, I'd say you got problems.

And the only reason he copies your posts is to get a rise out of you.  In response to the way you personally attack him.

I've been on this board for awhile now, and the way you throw insults at him,
unprovoked, is not only extremely uncalled for and classless, but childish.

I've held back saying anything for fear of getting banned, but I feel somebody needs to point this out.

To treat ANYBODY the way you've treated him is what is unethical.

"slimy excuse for a human being?"  because of copying internet posts?  That statement right there is what is messed up, not my mind.

Get a clue...and a dictionary.

There's a reason that you are the ONLY person defending the aforementioned Buttmunch's cut and paste policies...because you're so far lost in Wrongville on this issue that you may never find your way home.

How am I wrong?

If it's plagarism, why aren't you taking any legal action against him?  And my main point is, that isn't anything close to making somebody a bad person.

And also, I spoke up because you've taken your personal attacks toward me in recent weeks, with your digs about the fact that I enjoy singing karaoke and your comment in my thread about my attempts to interact with women and my "crazy noggin".

That's why I was so down about losing to you in fantasy.  I thought you were going to post an attack on me and my karaoke in gloating over your victory.  I was wrong, there, I will admit.

If you copy and paste someone else's words without citing your source, it most definitely is plagiarism.  Everything on message boards is most certainly not free domain for anyone to pass off as their own.  That is unethical and against those "ridiculous laws".   Just because action is not taken does not make it ok.

Ain't nothing wrong with scaryoke now! Its a sociology experiment every time. I like to do it too, but I haven't been out to a scaryoke bar in damn, 2 years. Need to get out there again!

At this point, I'll assume you've gotten used to being wrong and it's not such a big deal for you any more. You were probably down because you were hoping to talk smack to me...you know, in the really-real world that you only occasionally visit.

Also...please point to one comment from me in "recent weeks" that had anything to do with your karaoke. I've never really listened to more than 10-15 seconds of anything you've sung, as 10-15 seconds of the first one was pretty much all I needed to hear before I filed it under "Please, Lord, don't ever make me listen to that again!"

P.S. Please don't start chats with me when you see me on FB. Aside from explaining fantasy league rules to you when you're too lazy to actually read the rules, I really don't have much interest in light banter with ya...

Anything I missed?

OK, here

^^^ There ya go, gettin' all silly again. ;)

You have 3 players active in the Thursday nighter...I have 1. We'll "really" have a good idea who's going to win at about 11:00 PM Sunday night, when Hines Ward for you and Mike Wallace for me put the final stats in the boxscore.

Side note on this matchup: I have two key starters on bye (Aaron Rodgers, Greg Jennings), while you come in at full strength...yet ESPN's "not-very-reliable" projections have me favored by 27.

So, enjoy whatever lead you may get on Thursday night, 4Lifer... Heck, invite some friends over on Friday night for a victory celebration/karaoke-fest even. They won't check up on you afterward, so they'll never actually know that you ended up getting your butt kicked by 30-something at the end.

;D

Quite a few, actually

- I'm not used to being wrong.

- I was not hoping to talk smack to you.  IT'S FANTASY FOOTBALL!!!!  No skill involved!!!!

- You've taken several attacks at me for my karaoke singing, as I show above

- I do live in the "really-real" world.  If I didn't, I'd get into car accidents every day, smack into trees when I'm walking, and have a lot of other crazy things happen to me.

- I "started that "chat" to ask you to read my PM, not because I was looking to start an interesting conversation with you.

Look, I can't tell if you really think I'm a whackjob, or if you are just joking, but if you are serious, let me tell you explicitly that I'm not.

I posted in this thread because I did not like your completely inaccurate portrayal of Tommy, who is quite a friendly person.  I think most people would do the same if somebody said similar things about one of their friends.

Tommy attacked a lot of people and used to go off on crazy tangents, and then would complain when someone made the remotest joke about him. I got an official warning because he complained about an underware joke I made.
The man was an online bully who went off on extremely angry and profanity laced rants. We all have our moments where we will lose it and post something uncool, but he had volumes of such posts.

As to the plagiarism concept. Here are a couple thoughts.
http://www.free-legal-document.com/copyright-laws-internet.html Goes into more detail on how to protect your work.
But here is the part that most pertains to you arguement with Stroke and STL
Work published on the Internet, be it content, graphics, forum posts or whatever may be publicly accessible but that does not mean it is in the public domain.

"Generally speaking, copyrighted work enters the public domain (owned by the public) roughly 50 to 70 years after the death of the creator, unless the holder of the copyright in a work declares it "in the public domain" before that.

All copyrighted work on the Web (unless declared otherwise) is therefore protected by copyright laws and internet content may not be reproduced without explicit authorization from the copyright owner"

I'm going to lock this thread, because I don't think it's productive.  However, I will use it to get the last word in:

1) Stealing someone else's work and passing it off as your own, without credit, is the definition of plagiarism.  Whether or not it's illegal is irrelevant.  It's not like I'm looking to press charges.  It's just douchey and about the lamest thing you can do.

2) Let's take it easy on Tommy.  It's not productive to shit-talk a guy who isn't here to defend himself, although I have a sneaking suspicion that he's feeding dolphins4life some of his lines.

3) Stroke's comments towards dolphins4life regarding his karaoke: "Heck, invite some friends over on Friday night for a victory celebration/karaoke-fest even." don't even come close to the realm of being a personal attack.  If you post your own original work here and people think it sucks (which up until now they didn't), that's on you.  I think that everyone has been supportive of your videos -- but not because they have to be.

Lastly, Phinzrage is a cool site and people like it.  Don't make this about them.  They have cooperated with me about this and other things.
